    Sock liners are the bomb for skating. They're meant to be a layer between your foot and your thick wool hiking sock. Their purpose in life is to prevent chafing. That's exactly what I need between my foot and my skate.

    I always wear merino wool socks from brands like Fits, Smartwool, and Darn Tough. They’re super comfy and wick away sweat. I don’t get any blisters anymore after using these socks and my Moxi skates. I don’t use the thick hiking socks though. They’re usually the everyday high socks.

    Oh man, I got a set of Chaya tube socks for my aggressive skates a few months ago and I will never ever skate a sock that's not a tube sock made for skating. Night and day. I absolutely love how different it feels.

    Cycling socks are also pretty great for skating, they're just the right height, thin and work great with sweat.

    • @yetticuda
      @yetticuda 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I know this is kinda late.
      But.
      Check all your bolts after skating, may seem like over kill but you won't ever loose a frame or cuff bolt with this habit.
      Rotate your wheels like you flip your mattress. So front to back then left to right. Or left to right then front to back. I would say do rotate too much. It can cause your wheels to get a complete profile (or at lease mine do).
      Get some bearing cleaner/lube. Wd40 isn't a lube. It's a cleaner. You can wd40 them clean but use some bones bearing cream to lube them.
      I hope these little bits helped you. Keep rolling my man.

    This was an interesting video to watch. I've never had a problem with my skates rubbing my leg, but now that I'm starting to get more serious about staking and am interested in learning different types of tricks, this may help me prevent rubs in the future. I have had a problem, on the other hand, with my cowboy boots rubbing my legs, so I bought some tall socks to wear with them. I actually have permanent scaring on both legs just above the ankle because ankle socks didn't cover the pressure point there and on the side of my calf. Now I have symmetrical scaring on my legs because I wasn't smart enough to wear the correct gear. I do have one quick question. I have really flat feet meaning that I need inserts in all of my shoes to help prevent damage to my ankles and knees. Is there anything wrong with putting inserts in my skates since they don't have any arch support?

  • @MadameZelda15
    @MadameZelda15 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I use long socks. I try and make them as thin but not too thin. I don’t have an issue with my shin part, I have issues with my ankle bone. If I don’t wear socks the liner rubs on me and puts a weird pressure and it just annoys you and even hurts you. It will scrape you and cause you pain

    • @dushk0
      @dushk0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thick socks also put too much pressure on the liner and eventually destroy/soften it ruining the fit. After that 'treatment' you are pretty much stuck with thick socks in that pair. it's like heat forming for a larger foot.

    I use normal thin socks but i cut off this silly rubber band thingy that holds socks in place. I don't like this pressure because blood doesn't flow freely . Never had any issues. I have SL skates. Please explain why socks have to be higher than liners.

    • @dushk0
      @dushk0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      guess it's yhe uniformity of the fit and fear of abrasion from the top of the cuff. They don't have to be, you can go barefoot, if your skate fits well (isn't ruined by awful thick socks). I understand socks as a moisture buffer that helps keep the skates cleaner and prevents odour. Also good to keep those residual chemicals further from the feet.
