  • What socks are the best for skating? - I had this question too often, so here is an extended answer to all of you.
    If you have good skates that fit you correctly, socks will always be useless and you're better off skating without socks. I also recommend everybody to heat or aquamould their skates before going for socks.
    However, if you still feel a need to wear socks inside your skating boots, here's what you should keep in mind! Even thickness and support, full feet coverage, the thinner the better.
    Before putting on casual socks, have a look at the barefoot booties. I'm convinced by experience that the can solve almost any issue you might have: topskate.dk/en/collections/ac...

    Thank you for this advice Mr. Victor.... I’ve tried so many types of socks from different skate shops and never found the perfect socks. I will definitely try your method out 🙏👍

    I use long socks and bunch them up in behind an anklet for extra ankle support. I want to make a guard to sit between the lace and my ankle. My laces dig right into my ankle and hurts a lot.

    Those are my favourite blister blockers! I've been using them since I found them in Europe years ago when I got blisters after a day of exploring. Glad I can finally get them where I live.

    I really don’t want or need to wear socks, but my Bont (vapors) seem to get slippery after a while & then I just start losing control of my edges etc. my booties seem to fix most of that, but they actually seem to hurt my ankles bones a bit (wtf?!). So I get slippery feel with bear feet or I get ankle pain with booties. Grrrrr. I tried just socks but my skates were too tight, so if I’m going to wear socks, I’ll have to re heat mold them which I’d rather not do.

    I was surprised to see that Alex Cujavantes wears socks or what look like socks. In the World Championships in Heerde (2018?) it looked like he wore black socks in the track events.

    Even with custom boots there might be another good reason to wear socks. The bootliner (so whatever fabric/material the inside of the boot is made of) might deteriorate quicker when you are not wearing any socks. I'm not sure why though.
    Anybody any thoughts on this?

    Thx Viktor for the video. Do you have any more tips for the cold feet problem? Maybe some heated socks? I've tried socks by Lenz but they didn't help much.

      I’d try to avoid anything that goes inside the boots, and opt for covers instead :)

    @ 2:00. Link? Is this ankle support sock thick enough to gain snug fit in boot for skinny developing ankles? I feel slight lose & struggle to get top end snug w/o losing angle flexibility

    How do you keep the boot from smelling bad if you go sock-less?

    • @cheeseheadwife
      @cheeseheadwife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I spray my athletic shoes with antiperspirant. Makes them a little less malodorous and less sweaty. My skates have a removable liner so I take that out and give it and the inside of the boot a good spritz. Works for me.

    • @cheeseheadwife
      @cheeseheadwife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also throw the liners in the wash from time to time.
