Thanks for showcasing this one, Gimpy. I ordered this one before it went Kickstarter. I'm a sucker for pirate themed games. Looks like it's going to be very narrative and RPG heavy so lots of charts and die rolling. As you said, very Queen of the Skies feel.
This game has been available PNP on WGV for a year, and I played it to death when it was first released. It's a great game. Like the recently released boxed version of Corvette Command, I'm sure it's no longer for sale there. And I'm sure there have been a few tweaks here and there, but I'm sure the same gameplay loop is still intact.
@roguerifter9724 well you could get max infamy in about a week if you get lucky. Capture 5 ships in a row and you're good. That might be a touch unrealistic though
Wow look at all those charts and die roll modifiers! Not a bad looking game and seems thematic, but spending 99% of the game reading charts is just too much for me.
It’s a Joe Carter game which means very little decision making, lots of charts, and lots of dice rolling. Some people enjoy that. I’ve gotten rid of his games that I’ve owned. Just not for me. I love the theme though. Just not enough to purchase based on previous experiences.

@@timreece4278 As an open-ended sandbox game, Golden Age of Piracy has many player choices. I was told by playtesters that there are almost too many. This video only scratches the surface of what you can do in the game. 😉
@NickRusso-ik6fe recommend for certain players. Everyone isn't going to like this one. It is very chart heavy as you saw. That means that players who like Queen of the Skies, The Hunters, Silent Victory, etc are going to find something to like here. It comes down to choice. How much choice is given to the player determines how good a game like this is. For this one I would say it's good, but not great when it comes to choice. You will choose your actions for every day, but once you make that choice you follow the charts to its conclusion. In my example I chose to try and fight a enemy ship, but once I did I followed the charts until the fight was done which ended that day. I could make some smaller choices during the action, but not many. The next day I could make a new choice for a new day.

A year seems like a very short time for a game like this. Especially if you start with zero infamy.

It's a Joe Carter game so expect lots of charts and die rolling. Not for everyone, clearly, though I personally am okay with it.
@Ziplomatic007 yea it is a chart heavy game. If you aren't into charts then I would pass because every choice you make has an associated chart.
