I always share the gun reviews with friends. It's my favorite series for hunt info. Always gives me a good perspective and I usually run the weapon after watching. Gives me great ideas for me loadouts.
I see you trying to get ahead of the updates, but I can't help but feel the "New Army Knuckle" variant is in your future, just for the devs to spite your efforts

If you want to emphasize fire rate it’d be more appropriate to reference cycle time to avoid the reload bias
This. I was looking at the "fire rate" stat in game earlier and had no idea what it meant, since it CLEARLY does not fire at 30RPM.

The New Army was my least favourite pistol for a long while when it first came out, it felt weird and slow and a little clunky. It has grown on me a lot, it's probably my favourite pistol now next to the Spitfire. The dualies are also quite a bit of fun.
Oh and if it's any help I've found that the lead for the new army with FMJ is about the same as the Bow, which was kind of wild to me but once I learned that the lead made way more sense.

Keep in mind that the new Rate of Fire stat takes into account reload time. Making it pretty useless as nobody is constantly shooting in between reloads.
I'm pretty sure the Officer fires slightly faster than the New Army, we can't see it now because the Cycle Time stat has only one decimal

only reload when you have a bit of time, or when your completely out of ammo, because of the ejector the reload time is really fast when ur out of ammo
the thing that makes dumdum especially useful on the new army is that you'll do enough bleed damage between shots that an upper body and leg shot, or 2 lower body shots, will kill when it otherwise wouldn't
EDIT: I've since learned that because of the way Hunt rounds damage to whole numbers, two lower body shots are still a kill without dumdum

probably should've mentioned the difference between 97 (new army) and 91 (officer) damage, it's not like they are randomly picked.
97 can kill within ~22 meters with a arm shot + body shot, while 91 can't do that.
which is not a small thing.
Personal take: the New Army works well as close range defence, long range firing is best reserved for FMJ Caldwells (when talking Compact class). The pistol does have the unique distinction of the rapid ejection if empty which aides in getting you back into fighting when at close range when time is a premium and due to the nature of HOW the full eject works, partially reloading afterwards is just putting more bullets back in, no taking out.
Both ammo types have merit, FMJ holding its ground on wall-bangs is notable as if you are in buildings where things are getting squirrely then having the option to pen more surfaces help and Dum Dum helps in those rapid corner peeks and can buy you time to reload other guns, figure your next move or go for the push. Notably I would say that the New Army has more competitive custom ammos in this regard to the officer, who only has one (poison is fun but is more meme than competitive).
The damage stats mean little for these guns as at the ranges they will engage at they are at an odd place, 97 and 91 damage doesn't fall off hard enough at the ranges you will be plugging shots with these sorts of pistols commonly or optimally and since thresholds are in increments of 25 (the ranges are 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150) both pistols cover the category of heavily injured fairly well. Better than Bornheims in my opinion which have more claim to being "No Harm" than the New Army...doesn't mean dick about hitting a dude if I need 4-5 shots on target for him to get a mild graze!
Ultimately the New Army functions better within close quarters and interiors while the Officer is good when dealing with sudden encounters out in open areas or when competing in compounds where building to building shooting is going to happen across streets.
Personally, I would take the New Army with longer ranged weapons, anything that generally doesn't want to have to be called upon to be used at close range so your Winfields, Mosins and Single shot rifles. The rate of fire helps compensate at short range and the rapid double tap is useful, especially if during any scuffles you manage to land a shot from your main gun but then have to swap. The rapid reload it can offer also ensures you shouldn't be out of luck when things are getting down to the wire. Pairing it with close range weapons may seem nice but ultimately at that point it becomes a lesser option compared to shotguns or melee weapons which could do with a medium to long range weapon.
Finally, don't underestimate just running it basic ammo ether with another compact ammo primary. Ammo reserves being high can be useful for getting getting bullets down range but I advice against using these pistols in pairs; the point of such pairing is to help increase rate of fire and while it can be useful, the loss of accuracy at anything other than kissing distance is often not worth it. Pair Caldwell conversions instead as their handling even paired is actually fairly reasonable if you want dual wield. Same thoughts apply to the Officer as well if not more so as due to slower reloads with no rapid eject makes expending ammo rapidly to compensate for lack of accuracy a death knell.
But in the end all will fall to the might of the Martini-Henry and Cavalry Saber. Why it works for me is beyond me but I get far more kills with that load out than I honestly should get.

The bottom line is playstyle imo. Just the way I end up using pistols, I secure way more kills in general with the New Army. The small amount more damage, the bleed, and my tendency to only use it in short range all cumulatively make it my go-to pistol unless I have fanning.
Although gamer’s live for the highlight clips & videos these days, I for one will always appreciate the relatable, true to life content such as your struggle to get kills with what once assumed to be a game changing/breaking weapon

Personally I like to pair the N.A with the Kraig or Slate for the US Infantrymen role play. The “YANKS ARE COMING” role play, the “UNCLE SAM IS COMING FOR YOU” kit, the “SEMPER FI” loudout.
Gonna comment this before watching, but the fact that it has such a slow bullet velocity means you can predict a repeek, just pop a shot at where their head was one second ago and one second later you'll hear that nice crunch! Or quickly find out you're playing in a five star lobby.
I can still never get over the fact that with FMJ the new army has the longest headshot range of any single slot pistol that isn't long ammo.
Its biggest benefit over the officer is that it can take FMJ/dumdum and it does more damage, but you need to stay in close range due to its bad velocity where the special ammo won't help much. Officer has it beaten in slightly longer ranges since it has +1 round and it'll actually hit your target. The spitfire is a better medium range option too since it does better damage than either. The army could use a buff.
Also I wouldn't recommend taking rapid fire pistol pairs; regular conversion or scottfield pairs have a lot better accuracy and they fire almost just as fast.
Everyone sleeps on the dum dum for the new army, it’s my favourite, a lot of the compact pistols tend to not always kill in 2 shots if you add some range or hit a limb, with the bleed you can hit someone once, they bleed a bit while you maybe miss a few more shots, and by the time you hit him again it’s lethal that you otherwise wouldn’t have had with if you were using no special or FMJ. Doltch dum dum anyone!?

The only issue with it is I can’t wall bang with dum dum. Compact dum dum is good while your unlocking fmj but by no means does a little bleed damage outweigh wall bangs for me.
@@2hot34 I usually have a main weapon for pen. If you see someone who’s not in cover the bleed comes in clutch. But I agree no pen sucks

My favorite sidearm to use without traits.
The New Army is my go-to sidearm. I clown on people in CQB with it. It's the pistol that lets me equalize up-close fights in solo and clutch 3v1s. It's my follow-up gun for popping off followups after clipping someone with a sparks. For some reason I can't handle the NagOff. Something about its recoil pattern is jumpy and it doesn't recover in a comfortable way for me. The New Army shoots and recovers so smoothly, and with the new shooting range I'm excited to learn to lead with it correctly at a decent range.
I was a nagant officer chad for so long. Once I tried the new army tho I’ve never gone back. Once you get used to it, it’s a perfect side arm to a rifle.

I think the New Army alongside Officer and Spitfire, are currently the best secondary to take. Semi-Auto function makes them generally better then the single action revolvers in most cases, stats aren't negligible comparative to said single actions, pairs really well with the Scoped Rifle Variants and Shotguns due to still maintaining apt range and high fire rate allowing the primary to be on the extremes in terms of strengths and weakness, and lastly they're cheaper then the Bornheim and alot cheaper then the Dolch.
New Army is an A class weapon compared to the S class options that are the Officer and Scottfield, in that its slower velocity and only 2 variants helps offset its higher rpm, where the Officer lets you compete in short to mid range combat and the Scottfield has the Swift and Spitfire variants that both give greater potential in dual wielding and high rpm high damage.
To put it in perspective a good airsoft gun shoots at 300 to 400 m/s, while the new army fmj is at 200
Airsoft shoots plastic bbs tho. Put a metal bearing in that and try to shoot 300fps
the new army with special ammo has a bullet velocity of less than 2/3 the speed of sound. Some piston powered planes made during WWII could outrun the bullet.
I've heard (but wasn't there so can't verify) that the army originally had lower recoil but was too good during testing.
When I got Sgt. Bridgewater on DLC I hated the New Army pistol but loved the Specter.
Love your vids! Do wish you would include the cycle time along with the updated RPM as it can be quite important especially with these short range spammy weapons. Like dualies have low RPM due to reload but very high fire rate.

That being said, duelling these is actually one of the nastiest strategies, especially with FMJ
Spread is surprisingly smaller than you'd expect, while FMJ makes it very useful for panic spraying in a wooden environment

I have a sickness. Pretty much every time I take the New Army, I just end up yelling at it like the beginning. Shots that feel good never hit and shots that look horribly off somehow manage to hit. Yet, for some reason, I keep taking it.

This channel will blow up if hunt blows up, guides are informative with your personality really adds a lot of charm, in my opinion. So like if hunt only goes up and you put ur face (or like joe bidens face if u dont wanna face reveal) in the thumbnails to appease algorithm gods then ur good. Dual wield with New Army and dum dum is pretty vicious. The bleed makes up for the possible bad RNG if you can't land many hits quick enough, but are at least lucky enough to get one on target.
the IRL new arma "Colt service 1898" was used during the american-philipino war.
fighting against the natives of the philipines the gun got a reputation for being weak as the natives who many times used
a lot of drugs and herbs to feel less pain would be shot several times and still kill the shooter before dying of their injuries.
those incidents is what caused the US to adopt .45 ACP and than M1911 pistol
I love the new army when I run snipers, or any "long range/slow fire" rifle. Such a good backup panic gun. Still prefer the Officer just because of its godlike iron sights though, especially compared to the new army's garbage sights.
Once upon a time ago I used New Army FMJ to full-shoot down a guy pushing us by second floor just by his sound. He died and his friend was like WTF while we finished him too.
Never felt as much love for another pistol as that time for my New Army.

The best use for the new army in my opinion is as a rapid fire”back the fuk up” gun, that bleed effect makes everyone rethink their push, self preservation is a beautiful thing
The velocity is a hard dealbreaker for me. The longer I play and the higher my MMR is, the more I realize that velocity is probably the most important stat. It helps with leading, but more importantly the milliseconds you buy with it are the #1 way to prevent trades and inflict aimpunch right before they pull the trigger. It will save your life.
officer also shoots faster, but sicne new formula includes full reload (which on nagant is slow because its unloads every bullet separetly) its ends up slightly slower.
And its considerable difference, around 15-20%

It's one of my favourite guns! I just love the rhythm of it. I feel like it shoots just fast enough for me to aquire a target each time between shots.
I lost a fight with a close range levering terminus SOLELY because of the muzzle velocity today because the bullet was so slow he strafed out of the way while walking at about 6 meter distance lmao so the first bullet missed and the second hit and then I died. I love the pistol but damn you feel how horrifically slow the bullets are sometimes.
My go-to shotgun build is Slate with slugs + New Army. It doesn't require fanning so its very easy to spam hunters with that build and not worry what level they are. I secure kills with it just fine because its got great follow up shot capabilities and the extra damage over an officer means more consistency.
I generally prefer dumdum at range so that I have a bit more room to breath if I get a hit. Plus, if they're out in the open, two hits will force them to stop the bleeding or die, which gives a really easy shot.
The bullet on the New Army is so slow that one time I traded with a guy about 140m away. I headshot him with a Centennial (600 m/s) while strafing, I watched him get hit and die and then proceeded to strafe right where it felt like half a second later his bullet hit me. If I had stopped strafing it would have missed.
I love these videos. I've played a lot but I'm not guys at FPS in general. The gun fights you have look like so much fun. Have you done a video on general movement? I seem to win or lose a gun fight quickly a lot of the time.
I physically felt that clip in the beginning with your fight against the reverend.

what about reloading from empty? this is the deciding factor for me most of the time, even tho its not an insane difference (even if its totally cosmetic) the reload on mag dump just looks and feels so nice, if you arent relaoding in between shots the nagant can feel a little slow

New Army deserves some love, to me FMJ alone makes it a better pick over the officer
Doesn't matter that the bullets hit harder if they don't hit. Officer HV is near hitscan, new army FMJ nearly has crossbow velocity
I've been loving the New Army dumdum ammo recently. It just feels nice to be able to spam the bleeds relatively accurately.
The new army's main advantage is the low recoil when compared to the other double-action pistols. The new army is the most precise spam a pistol can have.
The officer and spitfire both have significant sway and recoil when firing, they are better in capable hands, but the new army is much friendlier to the hands of a newcomer or someone who is not used to these high rof pistols. The custom ammo choices both are potent as well.
Probably the ONLY reason I used NA before 1.15 was access to a rapid compact weapon early. Now that you get Officer at the start, besides swift or ammo choice (dum dum usually) I never use it. Officer just beats it.

It either hits every shot and saves or misses all and dooms me, no in between
Actually No Harmy is SLOWER than nagant. It gets 30rpm only because of fast reload, and officer have more bullets and shoots faster. BUTT, I found it to myself. That I had a couple of times when I was shooting with officer and it took me 3 bullets to kill people, or when I landed 2 and died, and myself getting shot and living - that extra 6 damage on No Harmy can deal quite significant difference between life and death because of that hand/leg shots

I love the New Army. I’ll run it with anything, but I usually find myself pairing it with the Springfield Trapdoor (another favorite of mine).
I had no idea people didn't like this gun. I clean house consistently with this gun and think "surely its gonna get nerfed". But hey I'm down for this gun to not change lol
I just feel like that extra shot with the Nagant pistol makes it so much more viable for me personally. Wish they’d give it dum dum but that would probably be OP
If I had a nickel for every time I wiped someone out with the seventh bullet of the Nagant Officer, I’d have many nickels, but I don’t really know how many because I have several hundred hours in the game and a lot of kills with the Nagant Officer.
The new army fmj is my favorite side arm to the lemat carbine. It boost ammo pool and can be used as an emergency close quarters weapon if you miss the shotgun.

i really like the new army its a nice pistol i use it with long ammo or at least a longer ranged gun, i also use it with single shot weapons like the bomb lance and the crossbow. the irons are a little wonky but for me its a headshot magnet, the recoil pattern is very harsh but i really like the gun because its fast, and the swift is going to be absolutely broken
I think if they added a Uberti 1860 Richards Army .45 Colt 3.5” Barrel that would make things very interesting

I like the New Army as much as Bornheim. Both are incredibly good in my opinion. Whats funny about that is, those two specific guns? I used to HATE'! Because when i first played the game i didnt focus my shots and just mag dumped every player i saw and ofc i didnt hit anything because i was trying to snipe with it 💀
Tried the new army with bleed ammon because of this video. And I can say it was a great alternative to the offficer, while pairing it with the s-sparks

Didn't know this gun was so hated it's my favorite revolver. Idk I just clicked with it, vibin with the rythm of the gun in a way that I dont get with any of the other revolvers.

Personally I consider this weapon to be the best one for loadout with low fire rate rifles. It has much more stability than officer nagant, it's quite accurate and convenient while shooting. Moreover, expansions is a really good addition to the New Army
at 3-4m its irrelevant if you have 200ms or 800ms

I hated the new army at first, but now its just a head popping machine. I honestly havn't thought about the officer since the new army and the spitfire dropped
I have not played much recently and just learned that they massacred the officer, it' firerate has only 23% of what it did when I used to play. When I played a few months ago it had a fire rate of 120 and now only has 28.
Now I have no clue what gun I will use as it was a 2 shot to the chest, capable of firing 2 rounds per second and dropping an entire squad with body shots only assuming you land 6 out of 7 chest shots.
I definitely can't aim with it the sights on it don't work for me lol
While not having the N/A benefit from traits (sans Ambi) can make it feel weak, it's actually just a nice way to free up other slots for you Hunter!

Love the new army over the officer bc it feels so much more consistent to two tap with. To me running the officer just means I feel like at my best I can only get two kills if I’m put into a 1vX situation and the 7th round of the cylinder means effectively nothing. Where with the new army (and me hitting my shots) I could wipe a whole trio no headshots required

Bullet velocity and amount of bullets is most important parameters of a weapon for me
i've been using the new army after watching you use it in some vids and it's really not bad at all. The Scottfield is better but this is pretty solid
I think the new army is best as a hail Mary when my medium to long range primary weapon is out of ammo.

I can't describe how much I hate that gun.
I decided to completely finish the lore unlocks for every weapon in the game, so I've managed to pretty thoroughly try all the pistols, and so I can say without a shadow of a doubt-this is my second least favourite single slot weapon, behind only the single action nagant.
I just can NOT land a shot with this thing to save my life-it feels like I could mail them the bullet faster, or at least do better with a real hard throw.
Personally though I'm a pax boi, so it might just not fit my playstayle, which tends to go for slower more hard hitting weapons over the faster stuff.
If I really need close quarters, I'll just bring a lemat.
Nothing new was provided here. Yes, it still is a worse Nagant Officer. This is simply due to the low velocity. The lower the velocity, the farther you have to predict the enemy's movements in the future in order to land a shot. Landing your shots at distance really just comes down to luck and doesn't involve skill, or your a psychic and can predict the future. In conclusion, there's good reason why it got the nickname it did.
Also the Nagant Officer with high velocity has a predictable recoil pattern whereas the New "Harmy" doesn't. And another con of the low velocity is that it gives your opponent more time to squeeze off a shot before you hit them, increasing the chance of trading with them.

The New Army has been amazing at release already, but no one I knew liked it. I feel like it's one of those weapons you really need to practice to be good with and then it's just straight up better than the officer.
Lol, the officer will two tap smoke the new army before you even think about shooting a second bullet. Worse in every regard, it even had to get both good custom ammos just to cope.

New Army and officer are about the same. I think if you bring an scoped or one shot rifle and have no treits your strongest options are doltch, army/officer and spitfire. Doltch too expensive. Spitfire personally hate. The other two are fine
