Your examples are both without FMJ and on top of that in the example where you did good it was because you hit their heads likely within the 180m distance meaning instant kill... beyond that my other question to be how long were you using it cuz it definitely could feel to me like the first one was probably hours into you playing with the Centennial and then the second one was from like your first hour... I truly genuinely enjoy using this thing, Winfield sights with no need to lead your shot? That’s pretty good and has enough ammo for just headshots. too bad it doesn’t have poison ammo since it’s my favorite.
My SO recently got into hunt and for some reason I cannot decipher, the Centennial really clicked with her, and became what helped her really start getting better at hunt. Suddenly after some time on this gun she's landing critical headshots, finishing wounded enemies, and clutching out fights like a seasoned vet sometimes, which is even more impressive with me pulling her into higher elo matches. I just cannot figure out why its the centennial other than muzzle velocity, but other fast bullet guns (like the Lebel) didn't do it for her.
My theory is low damage output subconsciously showed she needs to get those headshots otherwise she risks losing fights, which translated well to other guns.
I thgink Centennial is honestly pretty good, but its usage isn't very much like anything else in its class. It's essentially a medium ammo rifle that needs to be played like a bolt action long ammo rifle. Levering is worthless, ironsight talent is godly. Its sheer velociy makes it an incredible gun with practice. Ammo count is... okay.
The Centennial continues Winfield's tradition of letting me down when I start to think they're worth using. Also, the scoped variant continues Winfield's other tradition of their scope's reach exceeding their grasp. It do sound good tho... And how 'bout that slate, amirite?
@@Yourantsally I won't say you're wrong. That's what's so insidious about it. I used to bounce between "The Winnie is great!" and "This gun shoots flowers and rainbows instead of bullets!". I'd get great results - until I didn't. Eventually, they always let me down. Probably because my aim isn't just bad, but inconsistently so.
Winny C marksman is awesome, though. It is part of my favourite loadout, with a cav sabre. That is mostly a cav sabre thing, but having both long-ish and mid range firepower with your melee weapon is awesome.
Well i did manage to kill 4 duos with it while being surrounded with bounty as a solo player. I dont care about the stats when im having games like that
The problem is the centennial, the problem is medium ammo period. Medium ammo needs a further damage drop off range across the board. Compact is plentiful and cheap, long is expensive and beefy, but medium is just meh. Shotguns are king close range, compact will out play anything at close range because of spam and ammo-a-plenty, long is king over range, but medium doesn’t feel like medium it feels like a weird compact hybrid because it doesn’t hit anywhere near what it feels like it should. Better pen and damage is negligible when fighting against compact spam and shotguns.
Just give it 125 damage. That's all it really needs. Maybe a few more bullets. Medium ammo isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be. Vetterli is one of the best guns in the game. The medium pistols are perfectly fine, even if they are not the very best. Springfield is fine for what it is, a cheap starter sniper. It's only Centennial that has an issue of not doing enough damage and the need to straddle a fine line between being distinctive from vetterli while also not overshdowing or being overshadowed by it.
For a repeating rifle, centennial is too slow and medium ammo is... confusing at best. I'm sure it would be my favourite gun with a chambering and levering speed buff and some changes to medium ammo. I already love the gun, not while it is in my hands.
Medium ammo is actually period accurate to the Winchester 1886. That more powerful cartridge was the reason why it became the most popular civilian rifle at the time. The slow repeating action, however, is very much not period accurate and frustrates me to no end as to why it is not on par with compact ammo Winfields. At least then it would fill it's own niche as the fast medium ammo rifle.
The Centennial really lives up to the whole saying "a Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better then a master of one". It doesn't excel in any of the areas the other two medium rifles do, but it lets you do reasonably well in just about anything. Which is to say, I love having it around so I can cover whatever hairbrained load out my friends are running and being able to support no matter when their bloodlust gets the best of them. I know there's other guns that'd do the job better but the centennial keeps me in any game.
The Centennial with fmj is my go-to affordable ranged weapon. I love the iron sights. Add levering and a terminus hand cannon and you've got a really versatile loadout! I play on console so maybe its shortcomings are less obvious there... all I know is it's the gun I can hit people at range most reliably with, and that alone makes it a favorite.
Centenial always let me down whenever I use it (because leveling up gives me one). The muzzle velocity is nice, but then you have to lose a bunch of MV from FMJ. The sights are almost the same as the regular winfield ones, only to be more chunky. It got a nice ammo buff, only to still be the gun with the least ammo. It has a scope, only for it to be a sniper scope. I have no idea why crytek used to make this thing like 300 huntdollard and have like 15 bullets total.
I need more Home vids! I've gone through almost your whole library of stuff! A man can only re-watch the gun guides so many times... 3 times... I've watched them all 3 times.

Superfecundation: "Superfecundation describes a situation in which each of the eggs are fertilized by sperm from different men, leading them to have different biological fathers (making the twins half-siblings)." Yeah sounds like a fun time. good word.
I’ve been in lots of fights with it and I appreciate the relatively high damage for a fast rate of fire. Often I find people can soak up shot after shot with it, though. It’s a jack of all traits that excels at nothing.
Calamity Jane is just about the nicest looking skin in the entire game, so thats the only real reason I need to play the Centennial That the combination of its iron sights and the higher muzzle velocity seem to just mesh perfectly for me so I land at least 50% more headshots than I do with the vetterli also helps keep me solidly in team #CentennialBae #PraisedBeCentennial
I actually only started using it recently I really like it. A couple days ago I was separated from my 2 friends and got rushed by a trio. Somehow killed two of them until my friends arrived and then I killed the third one. It was a good bonding moment. Probably would've lost the fight if it wasn't for iron repeater though cuz I got to get a second shot off faster.

It is for this last reason that I look forward to your video detailing why the best loadout in the game is Silenced Winnfield Incendiary, Winnfield Vandal Deadeye Incendiary, levering, iron repeater, deadeye scopesmith, and optionally steady hand. Perpetuate with reelness, homefellow
my favourite weapon, you have to see it like a straight forward upgrade to the regular winnie, with the only downside in firerate.... just remember while playing it... it´s "just" a winnie
I play a centenial poison build in a trio and it is genuinely fun. I play with regular friends and each one of us has a role to play. With poison sniper centennial and a reliable sidearm, I deal with PVE portion as poison melts monsters and in PVP tagging enemies while our dedicated mosin/lebel user snipes them. Solo poison is useless tho, it's niche for a reason and good if you have regular buddies for team cohesion.
I used poison rounds to beat some quests where they ask you to deal poison damage. Also, silenced shorty version can deal with immolators, but that's just it. It also seems that killing pork is a bit easier, but actually yep, I won't use it if I don't get the quest
I prefer the Winfield Aperture, w/HV rounds, Iron Repeater, and Steady Aim. 600m/s muzzle velocity, rapid fire rate, and versatile between mid-long range. Take a Suppressed Nagant with HV, and you get yourself a deeper ammo pool, too!
I've been using the Springfield Marksman and Centennial Sniper FMJ a lot lately because they share basically the same muzzle velocity. The only things it's really capable of saying it does better is repeat fire at range, better retention and pen because of FMJ, and...that's really it. I view it as an upgraded Springfield Marksman, minus the upper body one tap to a 125 hunter. It's a shame too. I feel it getting 125 damage and better levering would make it competitive vs the other medium ammo guns.
It's the cheapest way to get into a sniper scope with ammo fast enough to make use of it, and with FMJ it's pretty good for wall shots since it combines penetration and fast rate of fire. I use the Vetterli though since I prefer deadeye scopes.
I've always preferred the centennial over the compact ammo winfields, mostly because your engagement range is much better. Hitting arm shots on hunters feels bad always, but hitting body shots with compact at 40-60m is about as bad. The bullet velocity is the biggest selling point for me. It's quite a bit pricier than the Vetterli, but it's much cheaper than the long ammo guns with comparable muzzle velocity. I'm not sure why poison ammo exists for guns at all at this point, so I just act like it doesn't exist as well, so I wouldn't take that as a downside, but maybe the Centennial needs another ammo type. Then again, with it's fire rate maybe that'd be too strong.
The reason I play the Centennial is that there is no other gun with that velocity at that price that isn't a single shot rifle. With 180m range, that means with iron sights, just about anything I can reasonably aim at, I can probably headshot. If I don't, I have 9 more chances. Levering isn't an issue to me, I just run a Pax or Scottfield with fanning on the side, and get ammo share because of it. Much better sights than Vetterli, too. If they never lowered the price, it would be a bad buy, but at $157 it's a banger. Just play it like you would a Lebel.
Centennial is like a big neutered dog. It has this deep powerful bark, looks majestic and has scary teeth, but don't expect any actual results when it comes to fucking. But just like the dog, I still love it. P.S.: I don't actually love dogs anymore, Hunt Showdown has spawned a deep hatred towards dogs in me.
I loved this gun before standard Winnie got compact FMJ. It is kind of losing it's unique trait in that case. Delivering 123 at 80 meters on Body shots is pretty good for such an inexpensive weapon. You could just go Veterli with HV ammo instead but you gotta pay a lot more to do that (and if you go FMJ your speed drops like crazy) I think if it had good levering it would be unstoppable
Dang I was actually hoping for some info on the poison ammo. Like, is it better for taking out AI? I just wanna know why I'd choose that over a silenced nagant with compact poison ammo
it can one-hit-kill armored and immolator AI but it is not worth taking 22 poison bullets. You lose way too much damage and have no penetration. If you really want a quiet way to take down AI, sure, nagant with poison could work or the hand crossbow.
I'm not saying its viable, (I'm not "that guy" I promise) but centennail with poison ammo and poison sense along with an FMJ side arm (I like Lemat) is a ton of fun.
Well as a Winnie Centennial player myself i really enjoy playing this gun. Somehow I can stack up more kills with it than with any other gun such as lebel, mosin or berthier. I hardly ever use speciall ammo because my AIM on console is a little bit clunky so i prefer to be able to refill ammo at any point in the game without looking for special ammo box. Besides it's absolute headclicker I can roll with centennial or winnie Talon at any time and still mow down people while my buddy supports me with mosin. I also have a weird habit of running LeMat or Cladwell new army with centennial and going kinda vice versa with winnie talon so I roll with scottfield spitfire. But it's just me being weird and eternally stuck in 4 star mmr
Honestly with poison rounds being full power now, it with levering can melt through bosses quickly if you don’t have an explosive. And now at full damage the denial of healing is pretty good.
I am part of the cult of the centennial. give it FMJ and it really does well. It really could use the benefit of 125 dmg. but, the best way to use it is if you know what your enemy has and punish that. if they have long get closer and spam wars you have 2-3x their ammo. compact and shotguns keep range as you can punch holes through sheet metal at distance. bring a spitfire or a swift with fanning for close and point blank, now you have a loadout good at everything great at nothing.
lol I use poison centennial with poison crossbow, along with antidote, two vitals, and a hive bomb (although sometimes i switch this out for an ammo box). i also carry both poison and concertina trip wires. I call this my toxicity load out :)
I can agree with everything you said. However, I think the Vet iron sights are terrible so I won't use that gun. I could run the silent version of the Vet, but then we are getting into some really bad velocities.
Agreed, if all they changed was leveling so that it was either faster or more accurate (or both) then at least it would have some perks. It’s still just such a weird gun when you throw on a sniper scope though
I just vibe with the centennial. Maybe it’s the sights, maybe it’s how it feels but I just do good with it versus the other medium ammo guns. Same reason I can hit shots I don’t deserve to with the scottfield. It speaks with to me.
I don't understand how so many people just brush away the muzzle velocity. I'm good at leading targets but there are situations where even if you're good with lead it's r&g. When people are moving erratically at range or AD spamming it becomes a bit of luck with lowered bullet velocity. Also the less you have to think about lead the quicker you can put shots on target. No matter how quick you are it definitely takes longer to line up shots when you have to account for lead. You can say I'm on the Kool aid but I think this gun Is a head clicking machine that deserves a little more respect than people give it.
its all around good best velocity and best headshot range for medium ammo with better fire rate and slightly less ammo in mag with better reload than a lebel
I like the Centennial how it is, in the past she was way too expensive, but now she is really enjoyable. Of course I'd rather use a Mosin or Lebel, but sometimes I don't want to play my everyday loadout and I take the Centennial. I also like to use the poison shots when I play with my friends, so that they can push em with shotguns or the Sparks.
I got my longest headshot ever with the centennial sniper when I was grinding the mastery for it, other than that I never could be bothered to use it the other rifles are just too reliable
22 ammo in total, 10 of them are ready to fire. 180m distance of deadly headshot (fine, actually), 600 m/s (top-3 for common ammunition). 40m distance of deadly double-tap to the chest (lover including), 20m distance of deadly double-tap in any non-leg location. Also, even base ammunition could penetrate wooden walls, FMJ doing that even better, poison ammunition killing armoured and flaming mobs with a single shot. On the top of that, it can be used for really close-range with hip-shooting with Levering trait, so... What's your problem, man? It's a good weapon. And yeah, in compare to large caliber rifles, it has better rate of fire and more ammunition... About x1,5 more, even without additional weapon the same caliber. In fact, this means, you can wipe out whole team at 150+ meters faster, then they hide behind the cover, if you're good in shooting heads. Or, you can easily win sniper duels, when every half of a second between two shots could be difference between life and death.
i can't stand using the centennial, but do bizarrely well with the centennial sniper. headshots never happened nearly as often with any other weapon, and have wiped a few servers singlehandedly with it. Oddly though, the hipfire is so good, I can't recommend using levering. Levering isn't fast enough to save you, and the hipfire is accurate without it to the point of being sble to reliably land shots in close range.
I don't hate centennial, I also don't like it, but for me the biggest issue is that it costs like 50 more than vetterli but it's more of a sidegrade (velocity at the cost of damage mainly), so there is no reason to pay basically 50% extra if the vetterli isn't really any worse
IT's also the only only other gun besides the Mosin Sniper that can make effective use of the Sniper Scopesmith Trait! One thing I always remind people about. Also The sniper feels like booty without that trait. But I get gear fear with mosin snipers, so I like to take Cent snipers when I have the trait.
This gun has a good double tap range with better rate of fire than long ammo rifles but damage is not so big. You can snipe and you can penetrate. You have more ammo than long ammo rifle, faster reload, no bullet grubber. It's a good gun for chill hunt, not for sweat lords xD You don't need a levering, if you need a close range gun - switch to sidearm. This gun for medium range and it works perfect. Expecting good levering from medium ammo rifle is like asking why your Terminus slow with iron repeater.
I'd love to see a vid on lebel 1886. I just got the game a week ago and I am hooked. I can't believe I haven't played this yet.(I was told that it is similar to tarkov which I didn't enjoy)
I don't know what crytek was smoking when they decided upon this guns stats or why they're so afraid of giving it meaningful buffs. This thing has only 1 real advantage in it's muzzle velocity, and bonus points for looking and sounding cool, but thats it. Medium ammo in general sucks, now give the weapon worse stats across the board than it's main competitor (Vetterli) aside from again the muzzle velocity. Why is a levering gun that historically had a smooth action slower than a bolt action? Doesn't make sense realistically, doesn't make sense balance wise because the vetterli also outdamages it and has more ammo. If that wasn't not enough the Vetterli also has more variants, good ones too. They could just give the Centennial a higher rate of fire than the Vetterli and give it slightly more ammo. That way your two medium ammo 3-slot options aside from the Midfield are 1: The higher damage, slower firing bolt-action, or 2: The spammy, lower damage levering gun with an ammo pool to support the playstyle. They could instead buff medium ammo so the 600m/s is meaningful for bodyshots at range, but I think the whole ammo system is flawed for making different guns share damage dropoff stats and ammo pools so I don't know if that would work.
I really like this gun more and more but it should have at least more ammo. And with much more ammo, some people would maybe play with poison ammo as well.

I also unironically wish it had aperture sights
It does have poison ammo
Ammo count is... okay.
Iron repeater and fmj turns this thing into the longest range two tapper for under 300 dollars and it still has a fast velocity of 480 with fmj.
The Centennial continues Winfield's tradition of letting me down when I start to think they're worth using. Also, the scoped variant continues Winfield's other tradition of their scope's reach exceeding their grasp. It do sound good tho...
And how 'bout that slate, amirite?
The regular winny is a beast and cheap, idk what you've been using.
It does have the fastest FMJ muzzle velo ingame iirc, which is nice. It's what I say when I'm simping it.
I need more Home vids! I've gone through almost your whole library of stuff! A man can only re-watch the gun guides so many times... 3 times... I've watched them all 3 times.
Your content is just the best. I’m always grinning/face palming when you’re cracking jokes. Besides the comedy, the analysis you do on these guns is spot on
Superfecundation:
"Superfecundation describes a situation in which each of the eggs are fertilized by sperm from different men, leading them to have different biological fathers (making the twins half-siblings)."
Yeah sounds like a fun time. good word.
I’ve been in lots of fights with it and I appreciate the relatively high damage for a fast rate of fire. Often I find people can soak up shot after shot with it, though. It’s a jack of all traits that excels at nothing.
It doesn't do much damage though. Vetterli and Springfield does much more damage. As well as all long ammo guns.
Calamity Jane is just about the nicest looking skin in the entire game, so thats the only real reason I need to play the Centennial
That the combination of its iron sights and the higher muzzle velocity seem to just mesh perfectly for me so I land at least 50% more headshots than I do with the vetterli also helps keep me solidly in team #CentennialBae #PraisedBeCentennial
The Cent is my favorite lever gat just because it seems to be my luckiest. I can’t count how many stupid situations it got me out of.
Hi. I enjoy your videos. I am commenting to give you emotional and financial (via algorithmic help) support. I like your jokes and I find your delivery to be both endearing and comedically effective. I always learn something new from your statistical breakdowns, and I find your editorial content to be entertaining, thought provoking and, most importantly, entirely philosophically sound, ethically pure, and morally correct.
Please can it just do 125 damage maximum, please
my favourite weapon, you have to see it like a straight forward upgrade to the regular winnie, with the only downside in firerate.... just remember while playing it... it´s "just" a winnie
I often play "legendary hunters but you have to pick stuff to your abilities", and centennial is my go-to Winfield whenever I get skills to it.
If i have one thing to say about your content, it's that your joke delivery gets me laughing at jokes I wouldn't think i normally would. Keep it up!
For all of its limitations my favorite loadout is still centennial sniper and scottfield swift 🤠
@4:30 It's amazing how much lead you can eat when you don't fill up on bread at dinner.
I loved this gun before standard Winnie got compact FMJ. It is kind of losing it's unique trait in that case. Delivering 123 at 80 meters on Body shots is pretty good for such an inexpensive weapon.
You could just go Veterli with HV ammo instead but you gotta pay a lot more to do that (and if you go FMJ your speed drops like crazy)
I think if it had good levering it would be unstoppable
Besides it's absolute headclicker
I can roll with centennial or winnie Talon at any time and still mow down people while my buddy supports me with mosin.
I made a follow up video :) lol
I don't even have hunt showdown yet but I still watch your videos when the come out
I am part of the cult of the centennial. give it FMJ and it really does well.
Cool sound is all i need
They could buff it slightly. I mean at least fix the levering. Levering is never an option when I take the centennial
Agreed, if all they changed was leveling so that it was either faster or more accurate (or both) then at least it would have some perks. It’s still just such a weird gun when you throw on a sniper scope though
@@itszaque now add the poison bullets to the sniper 🤢
I just vibe with the centennial. Maybe it’s the sights, maybe it’s how it feels but I just do good with it versus the other medium ammo guns. Same reason I can hit shots I don’t deserve to with the scottfield. It speaks with to me.
Levering on the gun is the most awkward thing I’ve experienced in Hunt. It works but it’s so damn slow
Just so you know, it's not R&G, it's RNG. As in Random Number Generator.
Cool video. Subbed! Cheers
Nonononononononononononono you're wrong you're wrong you're wrong you're wrong
The sad thing for the centennial is just that it can't compete with the karabiner, though basically nothing that isn't long ammo can.
its all around good best velocity and best headshot range for medium ammo with better fire rate and slightly less ammo in mag with better reload than a lebel
Don't sell yourself short Home that meme was solid. Hayden Panettiere also helps lol
Someday, I wanna play with your Patron, "Bayou Bussy Pounder"
Centennial Sniper is pretty good IMO, since to make that gun work it's best to go for headshots anyway. Good video dude 😎
Today I learned that the actor that played the Regenerating Cheerleader in Heroes played a cheerleader in some weird movie that you made a meme of.
I am a firm believer that the only gun poison rounds can be used with is the mosquito and nothing else
Finally! I was waiting for another one of these gun review videos
i can't stand using the centennial, but do bizarrely well with the centennial sniper. headshots never happened nearly as often with any other weapon, and have wiped a few servers singlehandedly with it. Oddly though, the hipfire is so good, I can't recommend using levering. Levering isn't fast enough to save you, and the hipfire is accurate without it to the point of being sble to reliably land shots in close range.
Thank you for covering this gun
Honestly I love the centennial if you have leveraging and it's great on bosses and up close with other hunter's
"they are Whispering poison in your ear" take your like you bastard
Remember when you had about 400 subs? I member, you've grown boyyy
On paper it's just not a standout, but it always seems to be the gun i'm using when I hit my most insane shots.
I don't hate centennial, I also don't like it, but for me the biggest issue is that it costs like 50 more than vetterli but it's more of a sidegrade (velocity at the cost of damage mainly), so there is no reason to pay basically 50% extra if the vetterli isn't really any worse
The amount of time u spend standing staticly and not being punished for it is outragous :O
this is my favorite weapon
I love these kind of videos that bring out the guns that need a little more love(pax)
This is my “so anyway I started blasting” sniper. See someone in the distance and empty your gun at em
I mean, a vetterli with 9 bullets and 600 bullet velocity for $50 more? Sign me up
Always nice to see content here
The curse of the Centennial, no matter how many times I grab that gun I never seem to kill anyone and I always die
Keep up the good work! Everytime i see a new video i have to watch it.
those jokes sounded oddly personal 🤔... but i must be imagining things, nice video!
I use the centennial because I own a Winchester 30-30 so I can pretend it’s really me out there in the swamps getting outgunned by everyone and anyone
Cant wait for you to remake this in 1.9
I thought this was going to be a explanation of the real life gun lol
This gun has a good double tap range with better rate of fire than long ammo rifles but damage is not so big. You can snipe and you can penetrate. You have more ammo than long ammo rifle, faster reload, no bullet grubber. It's a good gun for chill hunt, not for sweat lords xD
You don't need a levering, if you need a close range gun - switch to sidearm. This gun for medium range and it works perfect. Expecting good levering from medium ammo rifle is like asking why your Terminus slow with iron repeater.
Love this gun with pax .... :D hit heads like no other. 2:57 if you shoot trough wood, the bullet needs so much time to hit^^
Give us a Deadeye variant and replace poison with something else. Besides that I still love this gun
Medium ammo needs a little love across the board, centennial should atleast get a buff to 130dmg OR higher firerate
They could instead buff medium ammo so the 600m/s is meaningful for bodyshots at range, but I think the whole ammo system is flawed for making different guns share damage dropoff stats and ammo pools so I don't know if that would work.
my beloved Centennial :D legit one of my most fav rifles in Hunt
"It's not the best at anything and only the worst at some things."
Oh crap hey a video on my birthday that’s awesome!
Superfecundation was an interesting read!
Smoke the calamity Jane.. amazing
I really like this gun more and more but it should have at least more ammo.
And with much more ammo, some people would maybe play with poison ammo as well.
I was just talking how the normal winfield is superior in almost every way possible.
