Just finished installing my bug shield ...just to make it a lot easier, I put a small piece of cardboard along the edge of the hood ( the gap between the hood and the fender ) ...approx. 4" x 6 " ...the shield then can't go out of alignment from side to side..align the bottom edge and your in business !! .. then follow the rest of the video ! 😊
I noticed you did something, or perhaps just didn't show doing something else. There is a small white sticker on the underside of the protector. With the dark smoke/opaque ones, you can see this sticker when it's installed if not removed. It looked like it was still on the part when you installed it. Did you remove that sticker? And a further question. If you didn't remove it, how do you correct for that after it's securely stuck down?
I’m no expert on this, however my ceramic installer advised me that if I want any pinstripe or stick on logo etc. get it done before ceramics because it will not adhere to the ceramic surface
Is 3M Adhesive Promoter necessary when adhering Aeroshield deflector to paint/metal? I read somewhere where it's needed only for plastic to plastic, not metal? Does the adhesive promotor damage paint? I would use solvent and a thread to remove, but usually hood deflector are installed for life, so probably no reason to be overly concerned. I did note on instructions to leave a 1 mm reveal at the bottom edge of the hood. Is the Ford OEM Lund Aeroshield brand different than AVS ?
Great question! 3M makes different promoters for different applications. This particular promoter is used on the paint just for extra bonding strength on a surface that will see highway winds for extended periods. It will etch the clear coat, and yes, the hood shield is considered a permanent install. AVS and Lund are owned by the same company now, and they make the Aeroskin for Ford.

Just installed on my brand new Maverick XLT Hybrid following your instructions 100%. Perfect install! Thanks for the video.
Will the tape hurt the pain if you decide to take it off?

I’ve a question. Can I apply the bug shield on my recently ceramic coated truck?

Do I need to wait 24 hours before driving for a long distance?

Does this stop rock chip on windshield?
Be careful handling it. The plastic is very brittle
