  • Follow along as I install the Lund Aeroskin hood protector (bug deflector) on my 2023 Ford Maverick! This truck has been awesome but the amount of bugs hitting the windshield is crazy. I'm hoping this will help. This video, it's a detailed install to help you ensure a perfect install on your Ford Maverick. You only have one shot, as it's a peel-and-stick application, and the "stick" isn't forgiving at all!

    The smoked gloss looks good on the black truck. I have the same on my 23 Maverick in Carbonized Gray. Looked to find it in a matte finish...no luck. I purchased the smoked gloss and put a matte vinyl wrap on it as there is nothing gloss black on the truck. The matte finish will blend better on the others as all trim is matte black. The gloss just looked out of place.

      Very nice, was it hard putting a wrap on it? I tend to agree, the gloss might look a bit odd on some of the various colors of the maverick. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for your great video!! I just purchased this for my 22 Ford Bronco Sport. The tape idea is esp useful since I have a copper penny colored one so I will have to very careful that it is a perfect fit... You also made an excellent point about this in a garage however I do not have one so will have to see if a friend will let me use hers!...will be a bit nerve racking but I will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again

      Thanks for watching and glad it was helpful. Slow and steady, take your time, it will look perfect. A garage is a good idea, especially where I am, the pollen is a cloud of dust! Good luck!

    News flash...does not send bugs over the windshield......just protects from rock chips on hood.

      Thanks for watching! I can say I have noticed a decrease of the big bug splatter after 2500 miles of driving.. specifically the invasive lantern flies. It seems they hit that and don't deflect as high. Who knows. Small bugs useless. Better than nothing I suppose. Thanks for watching!!

    So does a thin piece of plastic over the front of the hood affect how many bugs get on your windshield? I can see it protecting against chips on the front of the hood, but I'm sceptical these help keep anything off the windshield. Does it help?

    • @jamzdotnet
      @jamzdotnet  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So far it only seems to deflect big bugs, like the lantern fly. It's definitely more of a hood protector vs. Bugs from driving about 1100 miles with it.

    Closing in on a year, how has it been so far? I'm looking to get one for my Maverick with my points.

      Perfect so far. Rain, snow, extreme heat, and 17000 miles of driving no issues.

    Please drive and let us know if you have hood flutter at speed.

      I have about 300 miles on it, nothing I have noticed. Mixture of high speed highway driving and back roads.

    How soon did you get your ford pass points

      I used them the next day. My sales person had me setup the app and she marked the truck sold on her end so they applied them.

    Does it get dirty between the hood and the shield over time? And how to clean it?

    • @jamzdotnet
      @jamzdotnet  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's taped down very tight. I don't think it would accumulate anything significant.

    Have you noticed a decrease in MPG? Interwebz says 1-3% decrease in fuel economy anytime you install these.

    • @jamzdotnet
      @jamzdotnet  ปีที่แล้ว

      No change. I can't imagine it would have any impact ... it's incredibly low profile.

    Can this go over ppf?

    • @jamzdotnet
      @jamzdotnet  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never had a car with PPF. However, I think it would interfere with it sticking. You have a special pad you wipe the car with and that helps the adhesive adhere. I would suspect PPF would impact that ... so you probably "could" but I bet the adhesive is not as strong. The PPF installer would probably know better.
