When I did this on my 2014, I did it in the reverse order, fed the short end of my power cable into the grommet from inside the car, then I used a coat hanger to grab the cable and pull it into the engine bay. This method is def cleaner, and might be necessary to get through the grommet cleanly. On my old, I just shoved a screw driver through it and jammed the cable through lol. Great video though, this is absolutely helpful.
There is another grommet underneath the fender liner that comes out a little higher so you don't have to cut a hole in the insulation. I did remove the grommet to drill it out and poke my wires through. I noticed you didn't show the reinstall of the fender liner which I found to be a real hassle.
Mines the cvt so I don't have that rubber grommet. That being said, the reinstall process is pretty simple so I didn't include it since I already included the removal of it

For any one with a sunroof, the plastic grommet shown is the sunroof drain.
Yo this was so helpful for my project. That grommet ended up being the perfect spot to get power from the battery through the firewall. Thank you!
Glad it could help!
Right on! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely! Glad to help

@@variantaero So I guess the liner pops right back on for you. I had a hell of a time getting one of the holes to line up.
@@billsanter yea, everything has its place and you have to pay attention to what goes where. If you got that, then it's very easy to put back.
Is there any wires near where you drilled the hole through the grommet?
No, there wasn't on mine.
Why not run it through the firewall grommet?
There isn't one on the cvt wrx
