Shit Ray I have to work this week end mate. I think its my last job before Xmas. If I don't see you before then have a good one. Or that's what they say. Still trying to find out about that good one myself mate. Shaun.
This has been some of the hardest frosts we have had for a while. And it looks like all you up north a getting a hammering, going by the forecast. The lake you see me on hear has now frozen over. Its been 20 years since it was frozen last. I was able to get two other trips out before the freeze. Will try and get that out soon. Thanks for watching and the comment. Take care. Shaun.
Hi Shaun Another very entertaining video, you picked a good day by the looks of it. All the info was there, again, as usual. Keep it coming Shaun. Loved it. Bob.👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
I was on the water today Bob. And boy was it tricky. Banked three. Freezing cold and dead flat all day. Mind did warm up midday. My three was top rod, mind there was only 5 on the water. The red buzzer took two fish with a steady figure of eight on a 15' tippet. So different to the last few weeks. Mind it was stocked about 17 days ago. Take care mate. Shaun.
Honestly I must thank you. If you are new to fly fishing you may find the next video uplifting and interesting. Thank you so much for the comment. Take care. Shaun.
I will try mate, but age does not help. Actually I am straight into another video now. Don't expect it any time soon, I am bloody slow at this too. Thanks for the comment mate. Shaun.
quality video mate! you're setting the bar high! Shame you were busy on Thursday - was just me and the older gent with the chair (so I helped him out getting setup). Right now Surrey is iced up - lakes are all frozen...so no real fishing happening. Back in March...see you then, bud!
Our waters have just defrosted. Ye had to work. I had an amazing hour or so when I seen you last. That Orange lure was picking fish up average every third cast. Fished it again a few days later, and it was slow. Catch up in march mate. Happy xmas Max. And best to the wife. Shaun.
Mike that Damsel nymph thing has honestly done really well. I struggled with it at first, actually I still am. I had pheasant in the tail and a few pheasant ends coming from the thorax area. A few fish in and they are gone. tried cock hackle. Looks good, but not as soft. I will get there. What we are doing more of, is trying more small stuff. So far so good. Catch up soon mate. Shaun.
@@shaunfishes101 I suppose its a Diawl Bach/Pheasant Tail variant, tied a few last night, will be testing at Papermill Fishery the weekend. Keep up the good work butty.
@@mikejames663 Dai and Justin was at Papermill about a week ago. Dai had 3 Justin had 10. I was on the water today and I found it very difficult. I had three and two knocks. one other fish came out to a damsel fished slow. Three blanks. This fly we are talking about did nothing today. Mind only fished it about half hour. Had one on Orange dog knobler. two on my red buzzer steady figure of eight. I am going to have a go at Papermill over this holiday. We should try and meet up. oh I would say yes pheasant tail v.
@@shaunfishes101 Shaun, I think I fished with them, was it a Wednesday and they had their Welsh badges on show, Dai fished next to me and Justin had his fish on a pheasant tail, I had 7 that day and 10 this Wednesday. They were good guys, even if it wasn't your mates and they enjoyed their breakfast.👍
It actually is a great water. And the fish in there has always had that little extra. Good quality spring water mind. Actually I should start drinking it myself. Thank so much Gordie for the comment. Take care mate. Shaun.
Well I like to share. I loved the start of your video. Like snap snap snap. If you get what I mean. Watching you eat on the other hand made me full. Bit to much for me. Waiting on your next one.
Thanks Sean. I don't mind the rain, but I struggle with cold. And we don't get it anyway as bad as you have. So all I have to do is think of you when I am in the cold. But I still get cold. I watched your vid on the Arboretum, garden thing. So different to ours. Loved the structure. And some of the drop offs were amazing. And to think of how they lived in that house is amazing. And I bet they had happy days. And to think of how people moan today. Mind I was confused, how did they plug in the 40'' tv. Take care mate. Shaun.
I can not believe it is hear already. My wife wanted to bye me a watch for xmas, as I have never owned one, and I am often late. Told her, you got to be joking. Could do with a new fly rod mind. I ain't going to get it. But no harm in trying. Socks and pants for me mate. Roll on Xmas. Thanks for the comment mate. And wish you a great Xmas. Shaun.

Well done mate 👏 nice to see you fishing in the rain when we are out you hide in the cabin. Amazing fish at hayscastle Castle and hard fighting. Bet you had a nice rest after that fish got away. Definitely need to change methods to catch more fish. Cant wait to get out again and try your apps fly never cought one before.
Hi Stevie mate, hope your keeping well. So glad you enjoyed it. I am going to try and get a few videos out over the holiday period. A bit of a challenge for me. Take care mate. catch up again soon. Shaun.
Great video Shaun... Your absolutely right.. This time of year really makes those fish fight harder... On my last vlog last week I experienced the same with a fish of 4lb 12oz... I just couldn't get it in as fast as I'd normally do, but its great sport when they fight harder
My best experience fishing was in the worst storm I have ever fished. Storm Ciara. About two years ago. Most of the fish I was hooking was around the four to five lb mark. After three hours of fishing I was knackered. It was such hard work just to hold the rod in that wind. I bet you can experience some wild weather up there. Thanks for the time to comment. Shaun.
Shit I bet its freezing with you now. I was just watching the forecast and thinking of you all up north. And those poor fish must be freezing there fin's off. If I was a fish that far north I would not get out of bed. If you start struggling to catch. Try a Santa Claus get up. Love hearing from you Tosh mate. Shaun.

@@shaunfishes101 not quite mate. Busy with jumping on weekends so not as much time to go fly fishing but I’ll definitely catch you again soon down Hayscastle for a catch up!
Thanks Barry. I hope I can keep pleasing. I am going to try and get a few out over the holiday period. So I will be looking forward to another thumbs up. OK only if its worthy. Thanks Barry. Take care. Shaun.
Its Hayscastle Fishery, Pembrokeshire, West Wales, Mark. There is not much on line about it. But its a cracking water. Never over fished, which can make it tricky for some. The more its fished the more stock goes in. So you will be fishing for resident fish a lot of the time. The good thing with this is that you learn a lot about the fish. A lot of people who travel from afar will stay at the cottage, which is walking distance from the water. Mind this is popular, so booking could be difficult. If you require any info on the water or any thing in the area, contact me. Shaun.
@@markosborne8784 We had a chap and his family from down your way 2 weeks ago. They stayed a week. Fished and toured around our amazing coast line. Another one from down your way loves it so much that they are looking for a place, so they can move here. They visit here at least three times a year.
