Tony is still the most straight talking no-nonsense teacher on TH-cam. I love it and can follow some tricks, although I am still very much a bedroom stadium rock n roller! (But the crowd still give me standing ovations in my head!)
@@GuitarMEwatching your lessons is bringing me WAY out of my comfort zone and just after about 5 hours of practice, I can already see a MASSIVE improvement in my overall control and it is so addicting!!! I watched the Sweet Home Alabama tutorial and I am struggling with the bit that leads into the G Major Barre chord but the level of control overall is insane
If you lose the G and throw in an Em youv'e got "Everbodys Talkin" by Harry Nilsson. A very good song for a beginner to learn as it has simple rhythm that they can aim for, all downstrokes to start with then go for the challenge of sticking it like the song.
It is a lovely progression that's in quite a few songs. I first came across it on Rod Stewart's " I was only joking my dear ", but have noticed it on quite a few others since.
I first heard this progression in a jingle from the early 70's promoting the new fall lineup on T.V. Unmistakable. I used to riff on it with the band back in the day.
I've watched several videos now, This is wonderful stuff you are giving us Tony. Thanks very much Tony. Your a good Scottish man. Scotland is where my Hubbard clan started from.
It's so frustrating. I have been playing these cords all of my life. You'd think I would have stumbled on that melody. There are so many notes and the way you can arrange them. It's all most infanit. I love guitar. Never a boring moment. I consider myself blessed that I didn't quit some 40 years ago. I learn something new every week. Actually I could learn something new every day, if there was only more time. I love guitar. Besides family, it has been a cornerstone of my life. Thank you, good sir, for sharing..
It's amazing how even after all these years, the guitar continues to surprise and inspire you. Your dedication is truly commendable, and it's wonderful to hear that it's been such a meaningful part of your life. Keep on strumming and discovering, there's always something new to learn and enjoy. Thank you for sharing your passion! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Gorgeous, simple, and elegant. Beautifully presented with the close-ups of the left hand. Friendly and not intimidating. Got right to the point. Thank you.
Another one of my favorites, Tony. I also played the E string riff before the A chord and ended with the E string riff and then the D chord. Sounded cool. it sounded like a walk down. Thanks for all you do Tony, I've learned learned SO much and am learning so much from your lessons. Mike
Lovely. I accidently added a Gm and it seem to sound beautiful going back to the A chord. I'm no expert, i just play for the fun of it. Thanks for uploading Tony. I've learnt something great thanks.
Wonderful! Sometimes those accidental discoveries lead to the most beautiful moments. 😄 Keep having fun, man! I appreciate your support! Glad I could contribute to your guitar journey! 🎸
you'll hear this riff used by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils in a song called It Could be Better .. if you've not listened to this album .. discover it ..lots of beautiful acoustic
i thought i may learn a new D trick.. oh well i started my first band in 1976,so nothing for me here i didant know as a kid (beatles songs were the best place to start) but i could add that when i started my hands didant even open,,and i have only openned my left hand,,my main right hand joints still dont move,,the beatles saved my hands
love these short videos. sometimes watch them without my guitar and try to recreate your licks from memory later but end up coming up with something a bit different. but no problem because thats the point right? love your content. keep up the amazing work
Thank you so much for your support and kind words! It's awesome that you enjoy my lessons enough to try recreating the licks later. 🙌🏻 Creativity often takes unexpected turns, and that's part of the fun! I appreciate your encouragement, man! Keep rocking on!
That's fantastic! It's great that you're finding this lesson manageable. Just keep at it, my friend, take it one step at a time and keep up the great work! 😊

Your Dmaj7 is how I sometimes play an F#m without the bar chord. Any minor can be played with the high 3 strings in its root fret position.

Wow, thanks a lot for the kind words! I'm glad you find my lessons helpful! Those imaginary standing ovations count too! 😄🎸

The acoustic guitar is such a beautiful instrument.
Absolutely! It's a joy to play and listen to. 😃
Yes acoustic guitar is sweet. I have a 12 string being delivered this week.

That first opening progression you showed is the chorus to "Time In A Bottle".
Nice progression, Tony. A progression that George Harrison RIP was quite fond of, Most noticeably in, the excellent, 'Something'
Yeah, I hear George Harrison all over that sequence he's showing.
Reminds me of sixpence none the richer called kiss me.
Same
It's called a Line Cliché for a reason
You are really close. It’s very similar except it’s played in C
Exactly

"Sad Caper" by Hootie and the Blowfish is a great song to play along with this progression.

Do this with an A chord and you have "I was Only Jokin" by Rod Stewart.
Nice one Tony !! Very nice
Thanks, man! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙌🏻
Great lesson Tony. Give a listen to "my home's in Alabama" by the band Alabama. Same progression.

Whether its Kiss Me or not, this version is doable and learnable for people like me. I had a stroke and not all works... tuning is a challenge for me!
