These ideas are a great go to when someone asks you to play without going through a whole song. Love the D chord. Learnt the D, Dsus4 and Dsus2 trick when learning Patience by GnR. Thanks for reminding me how great and easy it is
As a newbie I started getting frustrated with "lessons". I felt good about learning but it got to a point to where I knew about a guitar, but I just wasn't playing it. I knew some chords, 2 scales and that was all. Then one night I started doing this stuff and I finally started having fun!
Dude, this little D chord trick makes me feel like a guitar master. This is incredible. I’m Not as good as I sound until I played this. You are awesome. Thanks man
An excellent lesson. Also the psychology behind this strongly resonated with me. Mr EGO always gets in the way when playing in front of even 1 person. This is a great one to 'break the ice' and hopefully if interest is piqued, play a song for the 'audience' Warm regards, Sunny South Africa
The sus 4 chord makes me feel like an 18 year old, first summer out of HS, diving off the high board at my favorite swimming lake. Yeah, I'm kind of a Pythagorean when it comes to music.😅
What is crazy is I just did this the other day. Not all of it but most. I couldnt sleep and I just started strumming and moving around on that D chord. Next thing I knew, it was 4 am. I was doing it with the E as well. ❤❤❤
This is really interesting whether you're a beginner or not it's definitely a indie trick check out the stone roses Waterfall is all based around D shape but he arpeggios only thing is u need a capo on 4th fret also Noel Gallagher is a sus man
Maybe you can help me with this problem, I am a beginner and I just can not get that F chord to push down enough to make it sound right. have tried everything I can think of to get my fingers to be able to push them down! And yes in case you were wondering, C sometimes gives me misery too. I'm getting better at D and these little hacks will surely help, so thank you.
I've been using this trick for decades and being completely untrained had no idea that I was doing something that others actually understand. I did it because it sounded right. LOL
The D is my favorite chord. A lot of this discovered on my own just messing around, but you showed me some new things, so thank you.

Love how easy and simple this is! You can spend a few weeks as a beginner and begin to actually play guitar.

This was absolutely amazing how easy it is to amp up my playing based on one cord that I just been playing plain from the start.

Open D Has always been my favourite chord on guitar.
I like combinations of Dsus4, Cadd9, Em7 and G just moving my first 2 fingers.
very helpfull, fun to watch your guitar playing tips ,im grabing my guitar now to practice 😊
Wow. Thanks for the video!! ❤
The open A string can be played as well, along with your thumb on the second fret of the low E string.
Too much fun, bro’. I’m 72, playing again with all kinds of noodle time. You rock. And folk. And strummzy
Never really thought about doing this like this. A good little picking exercise that sounds good.
the chord diagram helps me a lot. Thanks.

green day time of your life is my go to as a intermediate/beginner if someone wants to hear something
yea man ,,, real cool stuff ,, tks
Very interesting to me.
Oh dude. The pinky work at 9:3o>oh my golly wolly
Perfect song as an example of this is “here comes the sun”
When the D chord is sus
😂😂😂😂
Cheers mate I've been doing this all along without even realizing that it's a suspended chord,,
I know! Me too. Thing is, why is it a 'suspended' (sus)?
I play those chords by accident, thanks.
And the hidden G. Golly gee l needed this
I was shown this in middle school in the 70's
Reminds me of my Freshman year of high school and Barry McGuire's Eve of Destruction.
A particularly tenacious sounding chord…
new york dolls & johnny totally

Nicely taught. Concise and easy to follow. Very useable as well.
What are the D chord shapes on the 5th, 7th, and 9th frets called?
I see where you put your black mountain pick. Very cool trick
When someone hands me a guitar, I usually impress them by tuning it.😅
I know what open strings are but what are open cords?
I think he means as opposed to barre chords.
The best advice I ever heard is, "Learn how to play songs." 60 years wasted on chords.
Great information, thanks.
Well explained thanks!
