Hey, this is an excellent instructional video. I have played guitar for over 50 years. You just taught me about 20 things I did not know! Don’t listen to the haters.
Great video I've been picking since 1983 iv met and played with people that can play by ear it amazed me I can't get it down it's a gift your born with keep posting
I have been playing for 30 years and still found this very informative. great thing about playing music is that you never stop learning! Thank you for the great video!
@@FeedbackGuitarAcademy Same here. One thing you get from the internet is information on things like this from different points of view. It helps to refresh or re-invigorate your creatinve juices.
This is the sort of tutorial you need at a certain time of learning progression and I found it at that exact moment what a brilliant lesson thanks going to the next level now hope you have a video for that
I'm a drummer first and love guitar as it is a mystery to me. I found a lot of this D stuff and even what I call a backwards D shape that work going up the neck too but I never knew about this capo trick. Awesome vid subbed mate!
Nice one!! But a trick that i've always found easier to tune into drop d, is making sure that that the 7th fret of the E string sound exactly the same as the open A string!! 😁
This is a great video and seems to be a lot of fun. I'm saving the link and will be replaying it over and over again. I'm just getting back into the guitar after a 50 year hiatus and am realizing what I have been missing for all these years.
That was a good lesson ! I use almost all of that in my videos , except for the Drop D , but you gave me some more ideas ! I'm getting older and I'm having trouble with my hands , but I'm having fun !
this is by far the best lesson on youtube... i feel like i can jam now and i been playing hobbying guitar for since covid.. but this video is the one that click for me.. Great teacher.
I'm 73 and I knew this stuff in 7th grade. Not knocking the teacher but to say he COULD LIST HIS LESSONS AS "FOR BEGNNERS TO INTERMEDIATE." NO KNOCK on him he played it and presented it well. Too bad he doesn't play a Larrivee! only almost kidding.
Totally agree, best teaching session I have come across in ages. None of the 5 minutes of how they came to play guitar or about their 'journey' just get in, say what you want to teach and DO IT. Thanks for this
I learned some of these on my own in the past 40 years, but it took me more than 9 minutes! Wish I had seen it 40 years ago! Oh, wait - there were no TH-cam videos then!! 😄
How about improvising on the fly?. It is really not that difficult. Choose few chords that fit good together like Am, C, Dm, E, 2 rounds and then back loop Dm, C, E, Am, and Dm, C, Am, Em, and you can get back to the starting chords Am, C, Dm, E. ---- You can do strumming, fingerstyle or combination of both, put different rhythms to it. It is totally cool and even beginners can easy get into it.
Good stuff. Been playing for many years and just about every time I pick one up my hands just automatically go to D . Probably from playing in drop d so much but yeah if you want to impress your friends you're right start picking around like this here
I call your simulated drop D simply drop E. The D chord becomes an E chord. I do most of my writing and arranging in Drop E. As a solo fingerstyle guitarist, it makes be sound very different from other artists and gives my arrangements an exotic and deep sound.

100%!
Best 9 minute lesson I've seen. Thanks.
I like it when he says PLAY 🤔!.
Agreed
Best 9 min video that is
This is some of the most valuable time I've spent on TH-cam. Thanks!!

@TomBrown-cq4vu playing guitar and fighting, what do the two have in common?
Same here i watch all the training videos still and I learn lots much better than going to a teacher each week like the old days
I learned more in this 9 minutes lesson than I have learned on hours of other YT lessons. PLus ZEP!
Very happy to have discovered this. Perfect for when you work from home and play guitar to keep sane.
Now that's how you teach, getting straight down to it
with no pissing around, great job mate, well done 👍
This is the sort of tutorial you need at a certain time of learning progression and I found it at that exact moment what a brilliant lesson thanks going to the next level now hope you have a video for that

Wow! Wow! Wow! I am your absolute fan, you make it wimple and classy and sophisticated all at the same time.
I've been playing for over 50 years and have used drop D and even drop C, but I never thought about or saw anyone use the capo trick. Good on you FG!
Good video no messing around and to the point

Finally, a tutorial that takes you where you want to go.🎉😊
Yes...finally I can play harmonics!
Nice one!! But a trick that i've always found easier to tune into drop d, is making sure that that the 7th fret of the E string sound exactly the same as the open A string!! 😁

Just subbed, gerting back into playing!.....Great lesson bro
Cool! The Byrds wouldn't even exist without sus2 and sus4 chords. 🙂
Very cool demo. Thanks.
love this
Great basic tips. Thanks.
This is best for keeping new players from losing interest. Which often happens with beginners. 😊
For a minute there I thought you were gonna teach Over the Hills and Far Away ;)

Thats the "thirtysomething" theme at the beginning. Great and challenging song by Snuffy Walden.
That was awesome... thx.
Drop D capo trick awesome
Great video... Very informative
I taught myself those chords when I was young by noodling around with chords. That was 50 years ago. I still know nothing else. LOL.
Open 3rd 5th 7th 10th 12th frets for drop D power chords. Excuse me Im just making a note of the fret positions. Great video btw!

Nice job.

Some of that reminds me of Over The Hills, And Far Away, by Led Zeppelin . Cool lesson
No it doesn’t. It just reminds you that you can’t play. Lol
Absolutely fantastic tutorial- I’d only ask you to slow it down - tabs would be so helpful Great riffs
EXACTLY!
Hi love your video, is that a standard thumb pick?
