6) Lukewarm Christians is God’s business. We're to encourage and pray for them to repent as led by the Holy Spirit-scripture. The only person we can be certain of salvation is ourselves not others we're all God’s business. True repentance is one who flees from temptation, it's a 180 degree turn. Focus/dependence on Jesus the Savior for help to overcome in a personal fellowship with Him through His disciplines not focus on self. Sin struggles should draw us closer to God not away from God. My Grandfather had 2 grapefruit sized tumors that completely vanished (presurgical CT scan revealed 2 voids where they had been) after my family prayed for him, even though he didn't believe that healing was for today. The anesthesiologist was an atheist, and she became a Christian as a result of this healing.

Hey, Mike just wanna say how much God is using you to glorify Himself! You have been a blessing to my family. Recently my wife had been suffering severely with an unknown sickness, I had listed to your suffering sermon many times before and I linked her to those videos. The Lord uplifted her heart and mine during the dark and hopeless times. This all happened a couple weeks ago. Finally got her into a good hospital and learned that she has vasculitus, an auto immune disorder. She almost died, and your videos strengthened her and brought her much joy! I'm expecting her home tomorrow after a week in the hospital. All glory to Him who is able to sustain the weak! Thank you Mike for all you do
Wow a wife correcting a husband? Unbelievable? He is the one in authority and she has no right to question what he does. She goes to God not her husband.
I'd say learning to let go of my husband as my primary source of happiness was the most freeing feeling I've ever had in my marriage and the biggest "ah-ha" moment. What an incredibly impossible task to put on your spouse. I love my husband and can't imagine life without him. But he is a fallible human being, just like me, and no matter how much I love him and how much he loves me he will end up hurting me and disappointing me. It's a big step to take but I think it makes all the difference.
@@medicisounds1384 because I love the life we have built together and I love his companionship. I love the history we have. He is my partner and best friend. But I have to realize that he can't always make me happy. I think that's a huge reason why people get divorced today. Once they hit a rough patch or no longer have butterflies for their spouse they must think that they've fallen out of love and that it's time to move on. Love is a choice and loving despite your partners failings is sometimes the hardest choice to make.
@@valeriaramirez2586 honestly it was when I came to God and allowed Him to be my main source of happiness. Knowing that every trial and hardship in this life will make sense in the end allowed me to be grateful for the things I have in this life even when things are hard. I see my husband as my partner and best friend but as a human he is flawed. Everyone is flawed. No one will make you 100% happy. That was a huge revelation for me. I think you have to learn to be simply be content sometimes.

I dunno, I simply came to the realization that there is no human on earth who can make me 100% happy. I love my husband and accept his flaws. I accept that things will sometimes be hard and it's ok. I look to God for happiness now. It's hard to explain. I'm just much happier now that my husband isn't responsible for it.
There are soooo many things that have made correcting my husband so hard for so long. I’m still struggling with it so this has been a great help! Biggest struggles for me have been unlearning unhealthy habits and behaviors that come from growing up in an abusive, neglectful home. I never learned appropriate respect. Just fear for authority. I never learned to voice my concerns, thoughts, or feelings. It was always just shut up, and do what you’re told or you’re going to get verbally, emotionally, or physically abused. This had me coming into marriage with all kinds of problems. Problems I didn’t know I had. Fear of man, codependency, low self esteem, which later turned into anger, resentment, passive aggressiveness etc etc. I was immature both in my personal development but also my faith. I didn’t have much life experience, people skills, let alone wisdom and no idea how to go to scripture to get help. Submission felt like tolerating mistreatment, bad morals, and scriptural abuses that came from my spouse who also grew up in an emotionally and verbally abusive home. I started going to social media and find help from online therapists and counselors and while I have had some help from them, the feminism and worldly pursuits they push on women also made things worse for me and my husband and children. Long story short everything has been very confusing for a while and I’ve been miserable but God has started answering prayers and giving me wisdom through Mikes videos and other biblical teachers. Thank you to you and your wife pastor Mike. I know this will help a ton.

@Prey R thank you for the suggestion. I have been wanting to get Christian marriage counseling for a while and it’s been hard to convince my husband. He has ptsd and has gone through a lot of spiritual and psychological abuse from church leaders. I will keep trying though thank you.

It took a while for me to even accept and face and realize that this is how I grew up and these are the the things that make me who I am. I used to hate myself because I felt so inadequate and ashamed because of all of the things that came from the way I was raised. But God has made my past into a beautiful story now and I’m glad I went through all that I did. I feel bad for you to hear that your mom sheltered you socially and emotionally. I grew up that way too. All my caregivers growing up were either just ignorant, scared, or wanted to protect me from tough questions, doubt, and pain growing up. But that’s not how God tells us to live. He tells us to live in the world with worldly people, to be a part of it, have experience in it but not to be like the world and it’s people. It’s actually GOOD to face those tough questions and doubt because it shows we are critically thinking about truth. The Bible even says to count those trials as joy- even though they can seem miserable in the beginning, they can bring great joy and blessings once we pass each test. And I think that’s where a lot of peoples parents failed in raising people like us. Without knowing+deeply understanding ourselves and others, socially and emotionally, it makes it really hard to understand anything about the world and the Bible whatsoever because it disconnects us from understanding reality and being self aware and critically thinking. God made reality and He made people and we are meant to be very knowledgeable about those things in order to understand and know Him.
@@skippy675and I think it was a good thing that you left your “Christian” upbringing because I don’t think it sounds very Christian at all. The Gospel means good news and a miserable life is not good news. Gods good news does promise trials but even more than that, it also promises joy and blessings which are waaaayyy better than the circumstantial happiness that you talk about. If you just look up Bible verses about Joy you will see there are a ton. But you can’t have that joy until you experience why you need that joy in the first place. You can’t just have ignorant, impersonal head knowledge. That’s not the kind of loving relationship God calls us to have with Him. You have to have a need for Him in your heart. You have to want God, want to be good and want to escape your sin and know through experience how much of a sinner you are and how hopeless you are without Christ. And if anything, I think if you stayed and adopted your moms worldview, it would actually be keeping you further from knowing who God really is and the plan He has for you. The Christian life does promise trials and pain because it calls us to die to ourselves daily(to cut off diseased, sinful, and destructive parts of us) and pick up our cross. And when we do that it promises joy and freedom and hope and peace that that surpasses all human understanding. I’ve experienced this. And it’s true. But we can only get it by trusting God and doing things His way and knowing Him. Often times people try to follow a Christian life style without understanding or knowing who Christ is or what he actually did for them. They say they believe with their mouths but in their hearts and minds, they don’t. They are strangers to God and His law because they are sinners and it’s miserable work for sinners to try and follow rules w/o a relationship. So they are miserable and end up leaving a faith they thought was Christianity. I think you left a false worldview you thought was Christianity. And I think it’s good. I hope that you can one day come to understanding what true Christianity is about. I think Mike Winger here is a great person to watch on understanding the true gospel message.
Mike, what you said about pastors buying sermons was spot on! It’s one thing to use things that you learn from others, but it is something else to repeat exactly what someone else came up with and not give credit.
One assumes anyone who gives a speech/sermon is sharing his/her own thoughts and knowledge. To use another's work without giving credit is deceitful and dishonest at the least. One the other hand, doing so while giving credit to the author is another matter. We routinely use study series and study guides to teach from, which is not too different from giving a purchased sermon. In both cases the teacher should know the material and be able to answer questions about the content.
Pastor Mike, I can't tell you how much your ministry is doing some amazing things. We talk (positively) about you and recommend you over and over in an Apologetics group for women. I hope someday your wife will join you to answer questions and give us her take on things as the wife of a pastor. Thank you for this ministry. It's bringing me back to God in ways I never imagined.
I want to thank you for these teachings. Even two years after this video was posted it has helped me reframe. I know it’s God working through you. Your whole segment about intrusive thoughts freed me from paranoid thinking. I was under the assumption if I ignore a random thought I MIGHT think is God, it would be considered hesitancy to obedience. I can now look at the moments where I’m sure God spoke to me and many that I wasn’t sure on. Going back to having biblical evidence helped me reframe that mindset entirely and I know feel so much less anxious about disobeying an intrusive thought. Thank you so much for you ministry! Excellent advice! I totally concur! By God‘s Good Grace we’ve been married 43 years!We were married 18 yrs before I surrendered my life to Christ. Not our best years, but God has redeemed even those,in that,He has healed the old wounds we inflicted on each other and our kids who inevitably witnessed our failings! The Majesty of His Grace is so evident that even our girls refer to those years as the BC days!🤣And they have successfully navigated their marriages,in part, because of the example of our own redemptive one! Since I wasn’t raised in The Way, I had no idea how to submit myself to my husband & he didn’t want to be “The Boss”!(🤣Just to show how out of our element we Were!)But God…! He has walked us through our Journey of Healing& Redemption! It wasn’t a Bam! you’re done thing but a process,little by little! The key here, is Submitting your will to God! He enables us to do handle the changes He brings to Light! At 43 years , I can say, we’re still a work in process, in progress! And just like today, I believe Jesus has led us to your program! 1:29:45 I’m very glad Mike didn’t get trapped in this thinking. This is basically how OCD works, and I think a lot of Christians suffer from OCD or OCD-like symptoms related to religion.
I was baptised as an infant so obviously no personal Commitment. I came to faith and as an Anglican was confirmed I saw that as taking up responsibility for my faith and making a public declaration I prayed and was prayed for and feel happy as part of the wider church. I understand that some traditions might require another baptism but I don’t . I have been a committed Christian for 30’years . I absolutely delight in seeing others come to faith and we are having some full dunking baptisms in Our church Easter Sunday.
Question 3: I renewed my Baptism as an adult because when I was baptized as a child, I secretly wanted to go swimming at church but didn't dare reveal that. I still believed in and loved God but I was immature in my Baptism. Since I was pregnant, the Pastor joked that it's a rare exception to performing Infant Baptism as well.

Good advice from your wife! I've been married 26years and learnt not to confront my husband when I haven't thaught through - why? - I'm angry first. Many times, after I've calmly thaught and prayed, I just didn't see the need to correct him. On the other hand if I have my reasoning in clear order (without all the emotions) its much easier for him to hear and respond.
I enjoyed Question 5. I often laugh to think how immature I was when I got married. I would add to Mike’s wise advice: (1) Your spouse comes first, however close you may still be to your parents; (2) Don’t let the sun go down on an argument ( even if it means staying up into the night to sort it out (3) Don’t expect to change your spouse, but encourage them to be the best version.of themselves.

On question 13, this is the first I've ever heard of someone buying a sermon that's just crazy to me. I think it's fair to borrow analogies people make, I find it's a particularly good teaching tool. On the other hand I admit I will get inspired to look into something, and make a sermon about it, because of a commentary or something like this where you're answering questions. I think our sentiments on the issue are at the very least similar if not essentially the same. As always great work and thanks for spreading this knowledge and insight.

So the waiting until you’re not frustrated thing about correcting your husbands. I think this is good, but the other thing I try to do (especially with my kids) is correct before I’m frustrated. This applies really well to kids because they do repetitive annoying behaviors. Correct the behavior before it’s annoyed you to frustration. A bit different with a spouse probably (depending), but especially with kids if you can correct before your emotions are running high, it’s a really good thing.

One time after we moved, we were looking for a good church. On three separate Sundays we visited three different churches. Imagine our surprise when the exact same sermon was preached at all three of them. And not only that, the sermon portrayed Esau as a good guy and nothing was said about Easu disregarding and not understanding spiritual things.

The healing one was so good to hear and get clarity on. I used to be in a charismatic church, though I'm not anymore. I have seen real damage done from well-meaning Christians who "command" healing, but don't listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit. I used to be a missionary with YWAM in Brazil and while there I met a leader and read her book, who had adopted a three-year-old girl who was deaf and had been abandoned in the street by her family. A man who had been uniquely called to pray for deaf people was visiting, and this leader took her daughter to visit him at a gathering for him to pray for her to be healed. She said he placed his hands on her ears, paused as if listening for a moment, then moved his hand to her heart and began to pray. He said that the Holy Spirit was leading him to pray for healing for her heart because of the continued trauma her abandonment had caused. The leader said after this, her daughter changed drastically, she later gave her life to the Lord and led a ministry for deaf children. I got to visit that ministry and volunteer and see how amazingly God has used this woman who is deaf to reach out to and love children in poor communities who are often neglected by their families because of their disability. I still think of that story whenever I pray for someone, and remember to pray for God's will first and try to be sensitive to where He is leading.

Mike. I really enjoyed this video. Especially liked that you regard your wife and her outlook on things so highly. Marriage is a 100/100 commitment for believers. Having said that, if we read 1 Co 6 beginning in v 9, it is talking about the unrighteous. We are never called unrighteous after we accept Christ, as is spelled out for us in Rom 6 really clearly. I also am not sure about someone who's involved in a blatantly sinful lifestyle with no thought of repentance. James says that we all stumble in many ways. I am glad Jesus looks at our hearts. When I discovered several years ago that our pastors bought sermons online on a regular basis I was completely flabbergasted. My entire life I thought a pastor’s job throughout the week was to read the Bible, seek wisdom for the Holy Spirit, and through that prepare a message for the flock on Sunday morning. I couldn’t believe it!! And much to my dismay when I started researching it I found that many Christians see nothing at all wrong with this. I then started searching for sermons online and could not believe the number of cites out there dedicated to handing off Sunday morning sermons, many even had sermons divided up by denominations!!! My husband and I grew very disheartened with our church but found that so many churches in our area were doing the same thing. I just don’t understand. We tithed partly as a means of paying the salary of our pastors so that they could shepherd the flock. But that is not what they were doing. We are still searching for a place to fellowship with solid biblical teaching. I appreciate you so much Pastor Mike for all the time you spend studying, and bringing us biblical Truth. Thank you
Did the pastors at least spend time ministering to the congregation? I have mixed feelings on this. 1. They should disclose this practice if they are. 2. They need to study the passage and the sermon to make it their own and not parroting word for word. 3. Whether or not they're doing this, the Pastor should be spending tim counseling, praying for, visiting, and performing basic ministry with the congregation...or in charge of delegating these tasks. 4. The Pastor needs to also be out speeading the Gospel with his congregants in the church's geographical location.
Mike your first question you answered about correction is a real issue in marriage today. Given the media position of right and wrong we have all inherited a somewhat self righteous way of “correction”. Your points were well stated and understandable. I would only make a single point, the word correction implies that one person has the right belief to lien on in correcting. I use an axiom to help me follow a Acts version of ironing out differences. God “corrects” “I” fellowship. Fellowship would mean that i must answer my own “feelings” with scripture, then and only then can i fellowship with my spouse around the scripture. The source of most “behaviors” is what we believe to be good. In the moment of Eve and the Serpent, Eve thought it was good to eat of the tree. Thanks for all that you do in helping us walk through our crazy questions.
I think you're totally right about preaching someone else's sermon UNLESS you let your congregation know this is so-and-so's sermon, so they know that someone else is giving them the lesson that day. I think you provided a great test of leadership in that position. Surely any lay-person, including a woman, or any child who can read, could get up and preach that sermon, and why not? I, as a lay-person, can get up and give the Bible reading in my church, why not someone else's sermon? But a pastor must meet greater standards. Also, thank your wife from me for her contribution to the answers today, so glad to hear from her; I really appreciated both her advice, and yours regarding young marriage.

For the question on struggling with anger and gluttony, I think that Romans 7 is a good read. In this chapter, Paul speaks on his own struggle with sin.
Yes and if we continue reading Paul talks about walking in the spirit. Glory to God. It is key to understanding Romans 7 if we read it in context. Paul just like us needed a Savior who saved him from his struggles in the flesh. Jesus freed him just like he can free us. Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
For question 6, I believe a good indicator that someone is legitimately saved yet like every other believer struggles against sin and even sinful habits, is there reaction to their condition. If they are remorseful and want God to change and work in them then that is consistent with a Godly lifestyle, knowing that God is a faithful father. Those that look at their condition and just go “well it’s ok cause I’m saved so I can do whatever I want” is a good sign that someone may be a false convert
I needed to hear this podcast today. I have been struggling with the issue of correcting my husband in the wrong way. Please pray for me that the Lord will help me to stop and think first and be slow to speak. I get frustrated and impatient.
I saw in the miracle of the water being turned into wine many years ago I was reading The Word of God one day and I went wow… this is speaking of Jesus and I what he came to do and what he would fullfil it was amazing when I understood it and I was simply reading the Word of God when the Holy Spirit revealed this to my heart and it was so beautiful so beautiful and if you take note of it it was his first miracle it represents him through and through from the beginning of the miracle to the end and everything that’s in the miracle when he used turning the water into wine the law was a weak to save… So many Jewish idioms represented in this first Miracle ….he was going to do was such an amazing amazing act …. the bride …the wedding …we the true Believers in Christ as Son of God as Saviour and Lord…. bride of Christ as betrothed to Christ that he is our bride groom he will take us to the marriage supper when he catches away the Bride to The marriage supper every symbol every jar …the wine… the water… the last being better than the first …all of it represents Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour coming into the world to die for the sins of the world as a gift ….Grace given by the father to all those who believe Even the words His mother said to him and.. in obedience he did as she requested and She said whatever he tells you to do… do it …if you think about the transformation on The Mount Of Olives where Our Heavenly Father says this is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased…(hear) listen to him…Everything Jesus did.. everything represented what he was going to do …everything he did he did with purpose everything thing that he did on this earth …he did his Fathers will perfectly…Not one Wasted moment not one idle Word..ALL SO BEAUTIFUL…ALL SO AMAZING…now we wait He is coming for His Bride soon…keep your lamps full… be ready watching and waiting…He is coming for a Bride… pure and waiting for Her Bridegroom…Maranatha …even so Come Quickly Lord Jesus…AMEN ….

I love this presentation of correcting your husband. I would note that it’s similar to yelling at your children. Yelling is going to happen during child rearing but it should only be for things that are so important that they need to be addressed immediately. @Mike Winger, I've been offered to write sermons for churches. I think that writing sermons is bad, but prepping biblical information is good. We do that anyways on our own, digging through commentaries and journals. Not all pastors have an understanding of the original languages or even the history of the 1st century. Some pastors don't have an understanding of Church history and the formations of our Doctrines and Theology. So, with that, I am happy to help.

Regarding #16, I use Kratom for a condition for which nothing else works. It's not a drug at all, so not similar to marijuana, but is illegal nonetheless in a few states. I would absolutely use whatever is needed if nothing else works.
Many of these topics could lend themselves to a conversation. For example a woman I have known for many decades is a pastor in the Unity of the Brethren (Moravian) Church. This lady graduated suma cum -laude from UT Austin and later in life went to seminary. I think she could have a very interesting conversation on women in ministry.
About praying for people to die for justice, my question is should we pray for their change of heart and salvation first? I feel bad praying for someone to die and not praying for their opportunity to be saved first 😭 anyways love the video mike
For the lady whose narcissistic ex-husband lied to their kids about the divorce: keep praying and believing. He (God) can and will handle them and the situation. Trust him and the process. As I have learned, sometimes he wants to deal with us 1st. He wants to clean us up and heal us, and the process is hard. Worth it, but hard.
For question 2 I always focus on the Jesus because, like you said he's at the center of it. Plus Jesus references the events in Genesis and there are plenty of extra biblical and even secular references to Jesus life and death on a cross. And references about how this "new" religion, based on the resurrection of Jesus, quickly spread throughout the rest of the world. #13 I once heard a message from our associate pastor that was uncharacteristically good. Everyone was going up to him after church-including me-and saying “great message!” He politely said thank you, in the typical way. Later that week I saw that same message delivered on TH-cam by someone else, complete with a personal story in the same place that our pastor had told a personal story for illustration. The story was slightly different, with different names. Turns out, this was uploaded long before our in-house sermon. Next time I saw him, I joked with him, ever heard of [name of online preacher]? He said “Hey, I never said that was my original message. It was good content, and I thought it would help people. It did, too.” I had to admit that it did. But I’m still wondering how much help people would get from him putting in his own time, instead of reproducing the content of another. In any case, he certainly presented it as his own, and people could be offended if they saw that it was not. I definitely felt it was a bad example and poor conduct. Incidentally, he left the ministry and now sells insurance.

The only person we can be certain of salvation is ourselves not others we're all God’s business. True repentance is one who flees from temptation, it's a 180 degree turn. Focus/dependence on Jesus the Savior for help to overcome in a personal fellowship with Him through His disciplines not focus on self. Sin struggles should draw us closer to God not away from God.

My Grandfather had 2 grapefruit sized tumors that completely vanished (presurgical CT scan revealed 2 voids where they had been) after my family prayed for him, even though he didn't believe that healing was for today. The anesthesiologist was an atheist, and she became a Christian as a result of this healing.

Hey, Mike just wanna say how much God is using you to glorify Himself! You have been a blessing to my family. Recently my wife had been suffering severely with an unknown sickness, I had listed to your suffering sermon many times before and I linked her to those videos. The Lord uplifted her heart and mine during the dark and hopeless times. This all happened a couple weeks ago. Finally got her into a good hospital and learned that she has vasculitus, an auto immune disorder. She almost died, and your videos strengthened her and brought her much joy! I'm expecting her home tomorrow after a week in the hospital. All glory to Him who is able to sustain the weak! Thank you Mike for all you do
Wow a wife correcting a husband? Unbelievable? He is the one in authority and she has no right to question what he does. She goes to God not her husband.
I'd say learning to let go of my husband as my primary source of happiness was the most freeing feeling I've ever had in my marriage and the biggest "ah-ha" moment. What an incredibly impossible task to put on your spouse. I love my husband and can't imagine life without him. But he is a fallible human being, just like me, and no matter how much I love him and how much he loves me he will end up hurting me and disappointing me. It's a big step to take but I think it makes all the difference.
So what's the next step is this method?

@@medicisounds1384 because I love the life we have built together and I love his companionship. I love the history we have. He is my partner and best friend. But I have to realize that he can't always make me happy. I think that's a huge reason why people get divorced today. Once they hit a rough patch or no longer have butterflies for their spouse they must think that they've fallen out of love and that it's time to move on. Love is a choice and loving despite your partners failings is sometimes the hardest choice to make.

@@valeriaramirez2586 honestly it was when I came to God and allowed Him to be my main source of happiness. Knowing that every trial and hardship in this life will make sense in the end allowed me to be grateful for the things I have in this life even when things are hard. I see my husband as my partner and best friend but as a human he is flawed. Everyone is flawed. No one will make you 100% happy. That was a huge revelation for me. I think you have to learn to be simply be content sometimes.

I dunno, I simply came to the realization that there is no human on earth who can make me 100% happy. I love my husband and accept his flaws. I accept that things will sometimes be hard and it's ok. I look to God for happiness now. It's hard to explain. I'm just much happier now that my husband isn't responsible for it.
There are soooo many things that have made correcting my husband so hard for so long. I’m still struggling with it so this has been a great help!
Biggest struggles for me have been unlearning unhealthy habits and behaviors that come from growing up in an abusive, neglectful home. I never learned appropriate respect. Just fear for authority. I never learned to voice my concerns, thoughts, or feelings. It was always just shut up, and do what you’re told or you’re going to get verbally, emotionally, or physically abused. This had me coming into marriage with all kinds of problems. Problems I didn’t know I had. Fear of man, codependency, low self esteem, which later turned into anger, resentment, passive aggressiveness etc etc.
I was immature both in my personal development but also my faith. I didn’t have much life experience, people skills, let alone wisdom and no idea how to go to scripture to get help. Submission felt like tolerating mistreatment, bad morals, and scriptural abuses that came from my spouse who also grew up in an emotionally and verbally abusive home.
I started going to social media and find help from online therapists and counselors and while I have had some help from them, the feminism and worldly pursuits they push on women also made things worse for me and my husband and children. Long story short everything has been very confusing for a while and I’ve been miserable but God has started answering prayers and giving me wisdom through Mikes videos and other biblical teachers.
Thank you to you and your wife pastor Mike. I know this will help a ton.

@Prey R thank you for the suggestion. I have been wanting to get Christian marriage counseling for a while and it’s been hard to convince my husband. He has ptsd and has gone through a lot of spiritual and psychological abuse from church leaders. I will keep trying though thank you.
@@skippy675 thank you for reading my story and sharing some of yours. It took a while for me to even accept and face and realize that this is how I grew up and these are the the things that make me who I am. I used to hate myself because I felt so inadequate and ashamed because of all of the things that came from the way I was raised. But God has made my past into a beautiful story now and I’m glad I went through all that I did.
I feel bad for you to hear that your mom sheltered you socially and emotionally. I grew up that way too. All my caregivers growing up were either just ignorant, scared, or wanted to protect me from tough questions, doubt, and pain growing up. But that’s not how God tells us to live. He tells us to live in the world with worldly people, to be a part of it, have experience in it but not to be like the world and it’s people. It’s actually GOOD to face those tough questions and doubt because it shows we are critically thinking about truth. The Bible even says to count those trials as joy- even though they can seem miserable in the beginning, they can bring great joy and blessings once we pass each test.
And I think that’s where a lot of peoples parents failed in raising people like us. Without knowing+deeply understanding ourselves and others, socially and emotionally, it makes it really hard to understand anything about the world and the Bible whatsoever because it disconnects us from understanding reality and being self aware and critically thinking. God made reality and He made people and we are meant to be very knowledgeable about those things in order to understand and know Him.
@@skippy675and I think it was a good thing that you left your “Christian” upbringing because I don’t think it sounds very Christian at all. The Gospel means good news and a miserable life is not good news. Gods good news does promise trials but even more than that, it also promises joy and blessings which are waaaayyy better than the circumstantial happiness that you talk about. If you just look up Bible verses about Joy you will see there are a ton. But you can’t have that joy until you experience why you need that joy in the first place. You can’t just have ignorant, impersonal head knowledge. That’s not the kind of loving relationship God calls us to have with Him. You have to have a need for Him in your heart. You have to want God, want to be good and want to escape your sin and know through experience how much of a sinner you are and how hopeless you are without Christ.
And if anything, I think if you stayed and adopted your moms worldview, it would actually be keeping you further from knowing who God really is and the plan He has for you. The Christian life does promise trials and pain because it calls us to die to ourselves daily(to cut off diseased, sinful, and destructive parts of us) and pick up our cross. And when we do that it promises joy and freedom and hope and peace that that surpasses all human understanding. I’ve experienced this. And it’s true. But we can only get it by trusting God and doing things His way and knowing Him. Often times people try to follow a Christian life style without understanding or knowing who Christ is or what he actually did for them. They say they believe with their mouths but in their hearts and minds, they don’t. They are strangers to God and His law because they are sinners and it’s miserable work for sinners to try and follow rules w/o a relationship. So they are miserable and end up leaving a faith they thought was Christianity. I think you left a false worldview you thought was Christianity. And I think it’s good. I hope that you can one day come to understanding what true Christianity is about. I think Mike Winger here is a great person to watch on understanding the true gospel message.

Mike, what you said about pastors buying sermons was spot on! It’s one thing to use things that you learn from others, but it is something else to repeat exactly what someone else came up with and not give credit.
One assumes anyone who gives a speech/sermon is sharing his/her own thoughts and knowledge. To use another's work without giving credit is deceitful and dishonest at the least. One the other hand, doing so while giving credit to the author is another matter. We routinely use study series and study guides to teach from, which is not too different from giving a purchased sermon. In both cases the teacher should know the material and be able to answer questions about the content.
Pastor Mike, I can't tell you how much your ministry is doing some amazing things. We talk (positively) about you and recommend you over and over in an Apologetics group for women. I hope someday your wife will join you to answer questions and give us her take on things as the wife of a pastor.

Your whole segment about intrusive thoughts freed me from paranoid thinking. I was under the assumption if I ignore a random thought I MIGHT think is God, it would be considered hesitancy to obedience. I can now look at the moments where I’m sure God spoke to me and many that I wasn’t sure on. Going back to having biblical evidence helped me reframe that mindset entirely and I know feel so much less anxious about disobeying an intrusive thought.

Excellent advice! I totally concur! By God‘s Good Grace we’ve been married 43 years!We were married 18 yrs before I surrendered my life to Christ. Not our best years, but God has redeemed even those,in that,He has healed the old wounds we inflicted on each other and our kids who inevitably witnessed our failings! The Majesty of His Grace is so evident that even our girls refer to those years as the BC days!🤣And they have successfully navigated their marriages,in part, because of the example of our own redemptive one! Since I wasn’t raised in The Way, I had no idea how to submit myself to my husband & he didn’t want to be “The Boss”!(🤣Just to show how out of our element we Were!)But God…! He has walked us through our Journey of Healing& Redemption! It wasn’t a Bam! you’re done thing but a process,little by little! The key here, is Submitting your will to God! He enables us to do handle the changes He brings to Light! At 43 years , I can say, we’re still a work in process, in progress! And just like today, I believe Jesus has led us to your program! Helping us with these nuggets of Godly Wisdom to bring about further changes in our lives! Thanks you guys for allowing God to Work through you to help us all! I've been a Christian for decades, have read thru the Bible multiple times, and am amazed at how even now God reveals Himself and His truth to me thru His word! Question 3: I renewed my Baptism as an adult because when I was baptized as a child, I secretly wanted to go swimming at church but didn't dare reveal that.
I still believed in and loved God but I was immature in my Baptism.
Since I was pregnant, the Pastor joked that it's a rare exception to performing Infant Baptism as well.

Good advice from your wife! I've been married 26years and learnt not to confront my husband when I haven't thaught through - why? - I'm angry first. Many times, after I've calmly thaught and prayed, I just didn't see the need to correct him. On the other hand if I have my reasoning in clear order (without all the emotions) its much easier for him to hear and respond.
I enjoyed Question 5. I often laugh to think how immature I was when I got married. I would add to Mike’s wise advice: (1) Your spouse comes first, however close you may still be to your parents; (2) Don’t let the sun go down on an argument ( even if it means staying up into the night to sort it out (3) Don’t expect to change your spouse, but encourage them to be the best version.of themselves.
Loved the answer on Proverbs (Q7)! Reminds me of the video you did on Proverbs, would love a study on that sometime in the distant futue! Thank you for everything you do Pastor Mike, always keeping us and yourself humble.
On question 13, this is the first I've ever heard of someone buying a sermon that's just crazy to me. I think it's fair to borrow analogies people make, I find it's a particularly good teaching tool. On the other hand I admit I will get inspired to look into something, and make a sermon about it, because of a commentary or something like this where you're answering questions. I think our sentiments on the issue are at the very least similar if not essentially the same. As always great work and thanks for spreading this knowledge and insight.

Most of your content is great Mike, but you outdid yourself this time. Somehow I feel this one was more "action packed" then most your the 20 question videos. Truly excellent advice and content. Praise the Lord.
So the waiting until you’re not frustrated thing about correcting your husbands. I think this is good, but the other thing I try to do (especially with my kids) is correct before I’m frustrated. This applies really well to kids because they do repetitive annoying behaviors. Correct the behavior before it’s annoyed you to frustration. A bit different with a spouse probably (depending), but especially with kids if you can correct before your emotions are running high, it’s a really good thing.

One time after we moved, we were looking for a good church. On three separate Sundays we visited three different churches. Imagine our surprise when the exact same sermon was preached at all three of them. And not only that, the sermon portrayed Esau as a good guy and nothing was said about Easu disregarding and not understanding spiritual things.

The healing one was so good to hear and get clarity on. I used to be in a charismatic church, though I'm not anymore. I have seen real damage done from well-meaning Christians who "command" healing, but don't listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit. I used to be a missionary with YWAM in Brazil and while there I met a leader and read her book, who had adopted a three-year-old girl who was deaf and had been abandoned in the street by her family. A man who had been uniquely called to pray for deaf people was visiting, and this leader took her daughter to visit him at a gathering for him to pray for her to be healed. She said he placed his hands on her ears, paused as if listening for a moment, then moved his hand to her heart and began to pray. He said that the Holy Spirit was leading him to pray for healing for her heart because of the continued trauma her abandonment had caused. The leader said after this, her daughter changed drastically, she later gave her life to the Lord and led a ministry for deaf children. I got to visit that ministry and volunteer and see how amazingly God has used this woman who is deaf to reach out to and love children in poor communities who are often neglected by their families because of their disability. I still think of that story whenever I pray for someone, and remember to pray for God's will first and try to be sensitive to where He is leading.

Having said that, if we read 1 Co 6 beginning in v 9, it is talking about the unrighteous.
We are never called unrighteous after we accept Christ, as is spelled out for us in Rom 6 really clearly.
I also am not sure about someone who's involved in a blatantly sinful lifestyle with no thought of repentance.
James says that we all stumble in many ways.
I am glad Jesus looks at our hearts. If we have a new obedient heart, my belief is the fruit of the Spirit will be evident.

When I discovered several years ago that our pastors bought sermons online on a regular basis I was completely flabbergasted. My entire life I thought a pastor’s job throughout the week was to read the Bible, seek wisdom for the Holy Spirit, and through that prepare a message for the flock on Sunday morning. I couldn’t believe it!! And much to my dismay when I started researching it I found that many Christians see nothing at all wrong with this. I then started searching for sermons online and could not believe the number of cites out there dedicated to handing off Sunday morning sermons, many even had sermons divided up by denominations!!! My husband and I grew very disheartened with our church but found that so many churches in our area were doing the same thing. I just don’t understand. We tithed partly as a means of paying the salary of our pastors so that they could shepherd the flock. But that is not what they were doing. We are still searching for a place to fellowship with solid biblical teaching. I appreciate you so much Pastor Mike for all the time you spend studying, and bringing us biblical Truth. Thank you

Did the pastors at least spend time ministering to the congregation? I have mixed feelings on this. 1. They should disclose this practice if they are. 2. They need to study the passage and the sermon to make it their own and not parroting word for word. 3. Whether or not they're doing this, the Pastor should be spending tim counseling, praying for, visiting, and performing basic ministry with the congregation...or in charge of delegating these tasks. 4. The Pastor needs to also be out speeading the Gospel with his congregants in the church's geographical location.
Mike your first question you answered about correction is a real issue in marriage today. Given the media position of right and wrong we have all inherited a somewhat self righteous way of “correction”. Your points were well stated and understandable. I would only make a single point, the word correction implies that one person has the right belief to lien on in correcting. I use an axiom to help me follow a Acts version of ironing out differences. God “corrects” “I” fellowship. Fellowship would mean that i must answer my own “feelings” with scripture, then and only then can i fellowship with my spouse around the scripture. The source of most “behaviors” is what we believe to be good. In the moment of Eve and the Serpent, Eve thought it was good to eat of the tree. Thanks for all that you do in helping us walk through our crazy questions.

I think you're totally right about preaching someone else's sermon UNLESS you let your congregation know this is so-and-so's sermon, so they know that someone else is giving them the lesson that day. I think you provided a great test of leadership in that position. Surely any lay-person, including a woman, or any child who can read, could get up and preach that sermon, and why not? I, as a lay-person, can get up and give the Bible reading in my church, why not someone else's sermon? But a pastor must meet greater standards.
Also, thank your wife from me for her contribution to the answers today, so glad to hear from her; I really appreciated both her advice, and yours regarding young marriage.

For the question on struggling with anger and gluttony, I think that Romans 7 is a good read. In this chapter, Paul speaks on his own struggle with sin.
Yes and if we continue reading Paul talks about walking in the spirit. Glory to God. It is key to understanding Romans 7 if we read it in context. Paul just like us needed a Savior who saved him from his struggles in the flesh. Jesus freed him just like he can free us.
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
For question 6, I believe a good indicator that someone is legitimately saved yet like every other believer struggles against sin and even sinful habits, is there reaction to their condition. If they are remorseful and want God to change and work in them then that is consistent with a Godly lifestyle, knowing that God is a faithful father. Those that look at their condition and just go “well it’s ok cause I’m saved so I can do whatever I want” is a good sign that someone may be a false convert

I needed to hear this podcast today. I have been struggling with the issue of correcting my husband in the wrong way. Please pray for me that the Lord will help me to stop and think first and be slow to speak. I get frustrated and impatient.

I saw in the miracle of the water being turned into wine many years ago I was reading The Word of God one day and I went wow… this is speaking of Jesus and I what he came to do and what he would fullfil it was amazing when I understood it and I was simply reading the Word of God when the Holy Spirit revealed this to my heart and it was so beautiful so beautiful and if you take note of it it was his first miracle it represents him through and through from the beginning of the miracle to the end and everything that’s in the miracle when he used turning the water into wine the law was a weak to save… So many Jewish idioms represented in this first Miracle ….he was going to do was such an amazing amazing act …. the bride …the wedding …we the true Believers in Christ as Son of God as Saviour and Lord…. bride of Christ as betrothed to Christ that he is our bride groom he will take us to the marriage supper when he catches away the Bride to The marriage supper every symbol every jar …the wine… the water… the last being better than the first …all of it represents Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour coming into the world to die for the sins of the world as a gift ….Grace given by the father to all those who believe Even the words His mother said to him and.. in obedience he did as she requested and She said whatever he tells you to do… do it …if you think about the transformation on The Mount Of Olives where Our Heavenly Father says this is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased…(hear) listen to him…Everything Jesus did.. everything represented what he was going to do …everything he did he did with purpose everything thing that he did on this earth …he did his Fathers will perfectly…Not one Wasted moment not one idle Word..ALL SO BEAUTIFUL…ALL SO AMAZING…now we wait He is coming for His Bride soon…keep your lamps full… be ready watching and waiting…He is coming for a Bride… pure and waiting for Her Bridegroom…Maranatha …even so Come Quickly Lord Jesus…AMEN

I love this presentation of correcting your husband. I would note that it’s similar to yelling at your children. Yelling is going to happen during child rearing but it should only be for things that are so important that they need to be addressed immediately. @Mike Winger, I've been offered to write sermons for churches. I think that writing sermons is bad, but prepping biblical information is good. We do that anyways on our own, digging through commentaries and journals. Not all pastors have an understanding of the original languages or even the history of the 1st century. Some pastors don't have an understanding of Church history and the formations of our Doctrines and Theology. So, with that, I am happy to help.

Regarding #16, I use Kratom for a condition for which nothing else works. It's not a drug at all, so not similar to marijuana, but is illegal nonetheless in a few states. I would absolutely use whatever is needed if nothing else works.

Many of these topics could lend themselves to a conversation. For example a woman I have known for many decades is a pastor in the Unity of the Brethren (Moravian) Church. This lady graduated suma cum -laude from UT Austin and later in life went to seminary. I think she could have a very interesting conversation on women in ministry.
About praying for people to die for justice, my question is should we pray for their change of heart and salvation first? I feel bad praying for someone to die and not praying for their opportunity to be saved first 😭 anyways love the video mike
For the lady whose narcissistic ex-husband lied to their kids about the divorce: keep praying and believing. He (God) can and will handle them and the situation. Trust him and the process. As I have learned, sometimes he wants to deal with us 1st. He wants to clean us up and heal us, and the process is hard. Worth it, but hard.

For question 2 I always focus on the Jesus because, like you said he's at the center of it. Plus Jesus references the events in Genesis and there are plenty of extra biblical and even secular references to Jesus life and death on a cross. And references about how this "new" religion, based on the resurrection of Jesus, quickly spread throughout the rest of the world. Age of information though we can Google a question and find the correct answer. Love your content, God bless you and your family
#13 I once heard a message from our associate pastor that was uncharacteristically good. Everyone was going up to him after church-including me-and saying “great message!” He politely said thank you, in the typical way. Later that week I saw that same message delivered on TH-cam by someone else, complete with a personal story in the same place that our pastor had told a personal story for illustration. The story was slightly different, with different names. Turns out, this was uploaded long before our in-house sermon. Next time I saw him, I joked with him, ever heard of [name of online preacher]? He said “Hey, I never said that was my original message. It was good content, and I thought it would help people. It did, too.” I had to admit that it did. But I’m still wondering how much help people would get from him putting in his own time, instead of reproducing the content of another. In any case, he certainly presented it as his own, and people could be offended if they saw that it was not. I definitely felt it was a bad example and poor conduct. Incidentally, he left the ministry and now sells insurance.
