You said Lazarus was 'almost like a multi-part Captain kit'. It is. You can make Lazarus, or a Dark Angels Captain. I grabbed and assembled both, though I swapped out the torso and legs with a Bladeguard Sgt. So I was able to make sure the captain wasn't too similar to Lazarus and buffed up my Bladeguard Sgt at the same time. Dark Angels Primaris kits are awesome.
On a model basis, I’d give the Dark Angels a solid 9+\10. The two critiques I have would be the power pack design is too uniformed across the unique characters. Asmodai has the unique vent system, but other than that pretty standard. Also, the Companions are super cool models but I think GW missed an opportunity to expand on bringing more older armor into the mix. Taking what they did with the Sternguard a bit further. Other than that, great looking range.
The only problems I have with the range is that the lieutenant is on a tactical rock and Lazarus can't wear his helmet. Besides that, fucking love the new Dark Angels stuff.
The moment I finished the new Lion novel, I started a Dark Angels “Last Wall Protocol” army, consisting of all the Successor Chapters & 6 Wings from the Heresy… LOTS of Risen Marines
That DA box looks great! Only thing it's missing is a center piece model in like a vehicle or a dreadnought just something bigger to stand out IMHO. Also wow those UK prices ;-; Combat Patrols are $190 in Canada
It feels like if it werent for covid we'd probably already be onto the next chapter getting custom primaris kits. Black Templar was the test run. Dark Angels, being somewhat similar (robes, swords) the next. We all know how bland normal primaris kits are. For me, these solve a lot of that blandness.
Well, the old Deathwing terminator kit made all three types of terminators so there’s really no reason for them to remove them from the web store unless they actually go out of production.
Thr Combat patrole is a huge letdown to me. The old one had a redemptor, 3 inceptors, 5 intercessors and a chaplain. It felt like a good core to build DA around, but was also great for any Space marine chapter. It felt thematic too, plasmaninner circles dread, plasma inceptors, very DA. The new one feels like a big mish mash. A gravis captain, who can't join any squad he comes with Inner circle bladeguard, no complaints 5 he'll blasters.... um thanks, maybe should have been 10, with only 5 intercessors (that kne change would make this box fantastic. 10 intercessors, I wish you where phobos, DA actually uses them, even if it's only for the 12 inch deep strike denial. But as it is, its a bad starter box, since nothing synergises, and it's a bad box for veterans, because to get any use out of it, you'll have ot buy 2, and adding 20 intercessors to your pile of shame is not ideal.
I'm content to wait for Space Wolves to get an update like this. All the DA primaris stuff looks really great, Valrak has said the Wolves will get something big at the end of the codex release cycle, and I've got another army project going until then in the form of World Eaters. Honestly I'd like them to just make Wolves their own codex with a range refresh rather than this jankie and very unflavorful supplement system that doesn't really function in 10th edition, so maybe later they'll figure that out by that point haha
Units of 3 are painful, they look bad on the table, and yes the shrinkflation is crazy, especially considering the cost of manufacture is negligible compared to storage and shipping. So long as you can fit it in the box, you're talking about a cost difference of a few cents. But people will buy them, so why would they stop? It's the same as scalpers, they'd stood if it was no longer cost effective
You are serious? A combat patrol for £95 with 19 miniatures? You GW lovers need to get your heads out your asses and stop being utterly ripped off. A Bolt Action box set costs less and you get an entire army, what a joke.

Yeah it’s too bad the helmeted option they give you has no wings, kind of weird
Or the captain that can't join any squads even if you buy every single dark angels box
The moment I finished the new Lion novel, I started a Dark Angels “Last Wall Protocol” army, consisting of all the Successor Chapters & 6 Wings from the Heresy… LOTS of Risen Marines
Only thing that lets them down is the green colour, their heresy colours were far cooler
Loving them. Already started. Only thing is that the command squad is gone... But I'm making one anyway. Who cares about dumb rules?
The models are absolutely stunning but just wish the rules could match up

Wait till you see the Australian prices!!
You are insane
They are getting rid of centerpieces from the Combat patrols though. They are trying to make combat patrol balanced rather than army starter boxes.
so they're making them into boarding action lists@@Kingofdragons117
@@Kingofdragons117Yeah, the captain that can't join any squads is the centerpiece now. That's way better

Black Templars are a close second mainly cos of their characters but thats all
It’s missing primaris Ezekiel though 😏

I kinda wish they would swap out 5 intercessors for like 3 Eradicators or heavy intercessors for the captain.
He can join zero of any squad in any dark angels box
I still find highly offensive that the Inner Knights are sold by 3.
The shrinkflation is insane.
