In my head I like to think that the old kit are the marines that have survived longer than they should have and the primaris marines have just fallen im really happy with all of this !
You get a lot, but when its all half assed and bland is it worth it? its like games workshop are scared of making the mareins look unique on on the same hand dress up one light as poncy knights.
They are cause it is slightly lowers the amount of people they can sell it to Anyone can buy this box if they want a Brutalis, and both assault marine sets without even skipping a beat cause there isn't really anything denoting these as Blood Angels but people are extremely dumb and all GW has to do is put "Blood Angels" on the box and paint them the right colors snd people will still think they are chapter specific
I’m excited for this box! Love the character models. Definitely will try to get this, especially for the jump Intercessors as the price for a box of 5 is insane on its own.
I quite like Blood Angels (Space Crusade OG), but was always put off by the wings, somewhat. However, having dialled them back, this looks like a decent contender for the complement to my unassembled Leviathan marines' that almost became Deathwatch (but waited to see if there was a refresh...).
This is an amazing box set. Makes me wish I collected Blood Angels. I'm not starting another army. I'm just going to keep painting stuff until GW fixes my faction or they release 11th edition.
My problem with Astorath is that his wings are too big for my taste, and his face is kind of hidden by his arms and axe and for me the faces and torso are the focal point on the miniature so you don't want those hidden.
Old lemartes looks better, but the pose is exelent. Astorath wings are amazing, gonna find a way to put them on every elite jumpack angel including Dante.
I have to disagree about DC Marines being OP. It's almost 300pts for a squad of 10 with jump packs. GW has always balanced things by altering points. I fear that DC will be just regular intercessors but with no OC. They could've kept the skull for the DC Dread sarcophagus. There's next to nothing unique here. Go buy an intercessor kit and paint them black. From this, all I'd want is Astorath and Lemartes. I'd only consider the whole kit once if I saw the datasheets.
Ngl I want this, I don’t play blood angels myself so I’ll probably just sell the characters and upgrades, but I don’t have any of the minis in this box so I’ll probably pick it up.
4 upgrade sprues damn talk about padding out the box set what awful value lol remember when upgrade sprues used to come with 10 shoulder pads to deck out an entire squad & only cost 8 quid now it costs 20 quid & you only get 5 or in a terminators case 1 lol & all I’m seeing is ultramarines cosplaying as BA being led by BA hqs god this box is awful
I'll have to say the lack of extra details on the weapons and armour is a let down. At least the rope and parchment from the old Death Company are easy to recreate. Shame they are loosing the parchment that has the deeds of the fallen battle brother as lore parts like that are really cool.
The upgrade sprue is bad. No filigree, blood drops everywhere. Redundant chain/powersword. Could easily buy a whole bag of small 3d printed blood drops off etsy for £5. Like I said on the last video, they should have gone all out on the more impactful bits of the upgrade kit and doubled them up in quantity.
I get the impression Astorath IS wearing a mask, the pipes under the cheeks look like they're feeding into the mask, perhaps as some sort of rebreather system. I am pretty disappointed with the upgrade sprue. The lack of special weapons is a shame but hardly unexpected, the real shame is that it doesn't have Death Company shoulder pads.The red saltires for the death company can be pretty challenging to paint well, so I would've thought they'd be much more important than Blood Angels chapter badge shoulder pads, since those symbols can always be done pretty easily with decals. On the topic of decals though I am VERY excited for the new transfer sheet. As an Angels Sanguine collector it will be FANTASTIC to have high quality GW transfers for the chapter without having to resort to 3rd party sheets which require carefully cutting out the decal since the film the decals are printed on is a single sheet rather than separated around each individual decal. Honestly that might be the best part of the whole release for me!
It's not fair, DA got two new kits like Deathwing Knights and Inner Circle Companions. It feels like GW nailed both DA and BT, so they decided to have some rest and do BA dirty. Blood Angels have unique baroque aesthetic, which poorly fit together with primaris "generic sci-fi" type of looks. I hoped chapter specific releases would fix that, and it really seemed that way until BA release.
To be fair BA is getting more models as hinted by GW. I’m a little frustrated with the lack of detail for DC though, gonna need some conversions to make it look better
As someone who loves DA we most certainly didn’t get the love we were expecting a downgraded belial & an awful deathwing kit coupled with a bladeguard / DA vet kit with one wep option is not what wanted lol oh & the complete removal of deathwing conmand just an overall awful release I expect BA to be the same sanguinary guard will get updated prob be three models & have no wep options
@@juliancastro9950 Yep, we have more models to come, but it's a bit sad that it's the only one unique squad instead of two as they always do with range refreshes. Also lorewise Death Company are should have more details and decorations than the normal marine, as them falling into a black rage means that they have been out there for a while. They also should have a lot of purity seals and scrolls, describing their former feats before they have succumbed to the black rage. Something as a new box with unique sculpts would do a fine job representing it, but GW is lazy I guess.

I think it has to do more with the blood angel iconography the death company kit came with that people liked a lot more, the amount of different bits to put all over your marines was just really good, where as in this kit you get shoulder pads, gem helmets and vampire faces
They're (the death company) bland and since they have chosen to utterly remove anything unique outside of maybe the eviscerator which a 1 for 5 option (rip my hammer and fist J.DC bois). Ill just be proxying my already painted up raven guard jump guys since there's only a red x and chapter symbol separating them now. Being fair though we saw this monkey paw refresh approach butcher alot of the Dark Angels unique flavor earlier this year so I can't say im surprised they've decided to do this. Nevertheless it still sucks the fun out of looking forward to these releases.
its pure trash. the eviscerator has 2 blood drop on it and thats it. all the things on the upgrade are bland . look at the old firstborn kit full with artistic decorated weapns armor accesories , very strong in iconography . they should just abandon the tacticool design of the primaris . they SUCK so boooring even the dreadnoight is soooo booooring . the only goodthing in this box is Astorath . why would i buy this box when i can literally kitbash lightyear better than this ??????
Space marines keep losing all high strength melee option. hell there isn't even a melee weapon above S8 even though vehicles got ramped up in toughness. Chain swords are cool and all but im sick of seeing just chain swords. They just don't cut it for being something you can rely on to take down anything but really light infantry. We need units with all power fists or thunder hammers to bring that punch. Sure we have terminators, aggressors, and centurions but they are REALLY slow. I hope they maybe get the "heirloom" weapon things that VVs got if they do decide to neuter their load outs.
I like Lemartes but he looks short to me. The upgrade sprue is disappointing, it's about the most generic one I've ever seen, similar to the previous BA one. The box looks great value if it's 125, seems like over £200 of stuff.
Overall, I'm happy, seems like they've nailed the characters. Fingers crossed that carries over to the sanguinor. Just disappointed we didn't get a unique kit for the death company, especially the jump ones, as I really don't like the poses from the generic kit.
Well its all good that we get 4 upgrade sets in the LIMATED EDITION BOX THAT WILL BE SOLD OUT IN A HOUR! That and I would like to see you try to paint the red cross on the units and the reason we are angry about this is that it feels like another step on the path to all space marine chapters being reduced to ultramarines in different colours

Personally I’m quite happy with the new Lamartes sculpt. Gives the impression he’s just landed in front of you and about to deliver certain deliverance. Astaroth looks great as well, just not entirely sold on the ‘upside down’ pouldron.
I love Death Company, but I agree that I've always thought about how they have unique armor when they were just regular guys who painted their armor black. Dare I say that this interpretation is more "lore accurate".
Why would they be regular guys? They’re clearly veterans of multiple campaigns, hence the ostentatious armor. Why would they give MKIV or MKIII helmets and so many kitted out weapons to novices?
Lemartes looks so bad ass and Astorath’s wings are getting stolen for a conversion

You could still use the old heads from the firstborn, there also stl bits stores now to add more flavor or get a printer.

I really like the character model designs. You do get four upgrade sprues. You can always do head swaps on the character models.
Idk i really loved the overly fancy armour and the fact that there was no limit to the load out
Astorath has a death mask, he was allways wearing one. the old one was just so detailed peopole thought it was a face.

He's "small" because he's leaning forwards and has his legs wide apart.
