    Warhammer makes me happy. Not just dopamine but the real feeling of accomplishment when you paint something you are proud of. BUT, my wallet cries.

      40K Fans DON'T CARE that GW has put Females into the Legio Custodes, it's the unannounced sneaky SHOEHORNING of them into the Lore (i.e. not *_Adding_* them to the Lore in a *_satisfying way_* ) -&- then Gas-lighting & LYING to the Fans' faces: saying 'They've Been There All Along." I think the greatest part of the hobby is the freedom of expression. You can build and paint whatever you want. While I understand some people prefer to stick to the pre-established lore, I think the ability to go wild is what sets warhammer apart from things like historicals.
    I've also had a lot of fun with my own successor chapter, although it's sad when your chapter symbol doesn't exist as a transfer sheet 🥲

    Awesome paint jobs my guy! The highlights are on point!! The colour scheme is clean.
    Last weekend was the first time I spent a considerable amount of time on a model (Cypher CSM). It took me like 15+ hours but was so rewarding seeing the paint job improve. Just about to paint a set of dark commune and can’t wait, built and primed them today, going to start painting tomorrow. I haven’t played the game in a long time but I really enjoyed pouring hours in to a paint job while drinking coffee and listening to warhammer lore on TH-cam.
    Keep up the great work Boss 🫡

    Really love your videos, nice and laid back and talk about good subjects! Keep it up! I have been painting up some Emperor's Children for Hersey and I need to take a break, I was thinking of finding a smaller successor chapter to paint up my Leviathan marines. I have some Flesh Tearers already but the contents of Leviathan doesn't really lend to them as much as I love the lore. I'm thinking something blue as I've never painted a blue force before.

    I got into the hobby a few months ago and painted up a black orc blood bowl team as my favourite American Football team. I gave them all the names and numbers of the players. Was literally addicted to painting them until I got them all done. So fun

    I think I'm probably happiest when I'm kitbashing stuff or customising things. Like I think I probably started gravitating more towards 30K because it has just so much more customisation and while the lore is a little more restricting in some ways, it's actually quite nice to create your own narratives or aesthetic within that framework.
    Like an oddly fun moment came from me dropping an entire bottle of Tamiya on top of a recon marine I'd spent the past hour kitbashing. First I built a replacement for him, but added a purity seal to his shoulder as an "oath of moment" to avenge his fallen brother, who was badly injured in a melta attack.
    Then when I went back to the damaged model, I realised only his face was melted beyond repair and the rest was kinda OK, so I did a headswap for a spare Eliminator head that had two bionic eyes and a rebreather, so this random squad member kinda has this little lore now where his face got melted off and was reconstructed with bionics.
    So what I'm trying to say is dunking your model in poly cement is objectively more fun than discussing female custodes.

    This is the same how I feel about the hobby since returning to it a few years back. There is something about making my own custom space marine chapter (well, in this case, reviving my original chapter from when I used to play 3rd edition), and painting it my own way. It might not be 'Eavy Metal level of painting or Golden Demon standards by a long shot etc, but I don't care. I do like painting them as clean as possible (mainly because I think Im worried that I am not good at doing grunge or battle damage). Its my paint scheme and my own lore and because of that, I enjoy it so much more and find it incredibly fun! There are million different marine chapters out there, but I can easily say that this is mine and I love it.

    While I have ten 80% finished terminators staring me in the eye I took a break to paint my own sigmar foot soldier for the store colour scheme promotion/contest they’ve got going, really enjoying making my own which I’ve based off our local football teams colours and local lore/geography

    Successor chapters/custom factions do certainly give a lot of freedom. I collect Angels Sanguine which have minimal lore, so they've freed me up a bit to model and mark the minis however I want. For instance I've used a mix of Blood Angels and Codex compliant markings for company and battlefield role markings, as I like the blood drops and coloured helmets of Blood Angels, but I also love the Assault squad X shape and tactical arrow markings. I've been able to build them with a ton of terminators because I love terminators and there's no lore saying they DON'T have 60+
    At the same time I do enjoy having some lore limitations, as it gives a strong theme to fall back on when I don't have much inspiration. Whereas a building a completely unique homebrewed faction tends to leave me feeling a bit listless. In the case of Angels Sanguine, their 2 main traits are that they have a lot of librarians, and they don't show their faces. I've been able to draw on that to build a nice collection of librarians, and have needed to make a lot of conversions and headswaps to give everyone helmets. My biggest challenge was having to come up with a lore reason for unhelmed scouts, which I argue are acceptable because they're not fully marines yet (aside from sergeants), so may not be as difficult to look upon as their brothers who have completed their ascension to angels.

    I’ve always enjoyed painting warhammer my way. Sisters of battle are almost perfect colour wise for me with a few changes and black Templars rims and accessories get colour changes for me. Still painting completely by your own mind is so much more fun.

    I am far too old to worry about what other people think. I enjoy making my Raptor army. I build, bash and paint at my own pace, making a force that will never see a table top. Why? Because it's my hobby and I'll do what makes me happy. The beat goes on...

    If you want true freedom why only paint 40k models in scame that is lore accurate? Why not paint gunplay, legos, Battletech, star wars, Blot action, modle kits or get a 3D printer and blender and make you own stuff to pait? Like why 40k? Which yes I do find it funny that people scoff historicals and then only paint ultra marines scrictly by the lore... Like isn;'t that the exact same mindset they want to avoid?

  • @Mjolknirn
    @Mjolknirn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The whole thing re. Custodes is they are the embodiment of peak humanity - albeit made in shape of a half dead god. The marines and SoB are simply crude imitations of them. The stuff I've seen grown men (some with children, genuinely terrifying) posting is equally sad and cringe.

  • @GreenBlueWalkthrough
    @GreenBlueWalkthrough 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    6:44 For lore people debate is normal that is how they encahge in the hobby of 40k... You prefer to just paint minitures and to someone like you is if GW started making their own painted minis and stop selling paints how would tht make you feel? I know you can just use other paints and paint over them just like a lore fan does not have to reconize that short story as their canon... But still dismissing iother peoples fun is not ok and it will come around to bite you.

      im a lore person and im not going to pretend what is new isnt there .since i know according to there own world building this cant happen .And even if the Emperor could he would never do it . He isnt a very complicated character to understand .
      1)why make a inferior weapon
      2)could breed and replace base line humans
      also its more then just a new thing they are forcing political ideologies into them . GW is already woke and this them just being themselves .
      also not trying to debate you just showing you might not understand happening
      at the end of the day if this what GW wants cool it is there ip .but is my money and ill no longer be giving it to them .the same way i stopped giving money to Gillette ,maverl comics ,star trek ,stars wars , doctor who and many more .

    As someone who spent over 2 and a half hours last night:
    Cutting off the light/sensor array of a devastator powerpack, trimming away excess, scoring mold lines, sanding smooth surfaces;
    Sanding, filing and cutting a sprue stub down to look like a mechanical joint;
    Gluing the joint to the Backpack arm;
    Having a tube clog accident with the awful Revell liquid glue i use;
    Frantically cleaning the glue up (I also found a new damage control technique using blue tack after getting the excess off with tissue, its not bad).
    Drilling 0.6mm holes through both for brass rod;
    Cutting brass rod to size;
    Cutting away a primaris heavy bolter drum, sanding smooth, as well as carving a mag feed to the right size, width and depth for a 3d printed heavy bolter shell;
    Plastic gluing the resin shell in (Creates a better mold for supergluing the part);
    Gluing some plastic sprue shaving strips and a cut-off antennae to the heavy bolter drum for better adhesion to the devastator backpack;
    Adding minute rectangular shaving strips around the bolt shell to act as feed lips;
    Sanding smooth the glue damage from earlier until i was satisfied;
    And stopping just short of test fitting and then putting the whole thing together (and still loving the process);
    I getchu fam.
