  • Shimano's RD-U4020 9-speed CUES derailleur is their e-bike and mountain focused 9-speed derailleur. In this video, I'm going to measure the pull ratio on this derailleur.

Well done. Low friction shifting sounds good.

    I like the data-driven approach!
What then becomes the motivation for manufacturers to spec derailleurs as lower than their true capabilities? Purely safety factor engineering, or the more generally common mix of profiteering + model hierarchy performance engineering + warranty claim reduction 'safety factor' engineering?

Oh maan! Great stuff, love it
tbh i think all cues rd is pretty same in motion (except cage length)

ahh, you answered my question, it will not work as a replacement for my aging 9 speed groupset! Shame

Nice measurement and video. But it only tells half of the CUES story. Do you have any of the CUES shifters at hand to measure their actual cable pull?

Thank you! I have a CUES 9-speed shifter and I'm working on a video. It looks like the cable pull is 3.51 mm for CUES 9-speed. I'll release the shifter video in a few weeks.
