I’ve tried a bunch of different hairstyles over the years. Everything from medium length and longer styles to shorter cuts with lots of texture.
And of course, I’ve been influenced by trends. I rocked an undercut side part for a few years (which I still think it a great style, by the way). But there’s one hairstyle I always come back to. It’s practical but not boring.
It’s great for guys who are willing to put a little effort into styling their hair - just a few minutes - but still want a relatively low maintenance cut. And it’s especially great for guys with thick hair like me.
Note: my hair is pretty wavy as it gets longer, but this style works for straight hair too. In this video, I’ll explain how I style this cut, what products I use, and what to tell your barber or hair stylist if you want to get the same look.

I currently have similar hairstyle and thickness, but it gets greasy quick, head sweats more, so i get pimples from the oiliness. Product also goes fast. With shorter hairstyle I can go longer without washing, less product, less pimples.

I actually do a very similar version to this and I have thin hair. I use a small roller brush to grab my hair and blow dry it backwards. This will add a substantial amount of volume. Then what want to do is use a clay product, like layrite cement clay for example, and work that with your hands into your hair brushing it backwards. I use a brush after to make sure all my hair is going in the direction I want and although it won't look as luxurious as in this video, it's pretty awesome for thin hair. Hope this helps.

I had the most difficult time explaining to my barber the difference between a taper and an undercut. He kept wanting to do an undercut when I wanted a taper. Super frustrating. Eventually he caught on.
A barber should definitely know the difference!

What blow dryer do you use? I grew out my sides again, as I get older I want to settle into a more mature look. This taper is great because it can be shaped tight for formal and business with a high gloss pomade with a fine tooth comb. Then, as the video shows, shaped for leisure activities and the Saturday morning coffee shop.

As a guy with thinning hair, it feels like ANY hairstyle is achievable for men with thick hair and most look good.
I'd prefer to see a video for men with thinning hairlines, since that's a MUCH bigger challenge.

Hey thanks! I haven't done anything, but thankfully, it's one problem I don't have to worry about. Both of my parents have full/thick hair, and none of my 3 brothers show any signs of thinning/loss.

Within a mile of my place, there must be 15-20 "barber shops" But all of them, are terrible! It's so annoying to want to get a good cut (at a sensible price!) and there's so many chancers and amateurs!
And then when I did find a great barber, after a fewyears they seem to move on to other places, and you can never find them again! 😂😂

Only 40% of the hair is side parted while the rest is slicked back, this might solve the problem I have with side part: when it's fully parted, it doesn't look good on me. BTW you didn't explain where you should choose the parting line to be. Anyway, well explained with all the tips (applying product back to front, and using hands to reduce volume). Will definitely try this.
It kind of depends on your head shape. For me, keeping the part line higher up (above the corner) makes the most sense. For some guys, lower down works better.
