- This build was such a smooth and clean build. The parts compliment each other well from the 1995 Scott Vantage 2.0 frame to the Judy XC to the 8-Speed Shimano XC build to the SDG Bel Air saddle. Enjoy, and don't forget, look for opportunities to give those old things new life, ciao.

I think this is the most poetic video you made so far. Beautiful.
Sir, I'm 26 years old and I had my first MTB, a Miyata Ridge Runner, at age 4. It was a big bike for a little kid like me, but I rode it for years until I left my parents' house, and it sat in their garage for ages. You actually inspired me to give my old friend a new lease of life, so I fully upgraded it to a mullet setup (26 wide back and 29 front). Dunno, maybe it's just me, but it's the best trail bike ever. It can keep up with modern MTBs no problem. Thanks a lot for making a channel like this.
Cracking build 👍🏼 I enjoyed you mixing up the format of the video for this one, super relaxing to watch. Always jealous of the parts you have access to over there, definitely a lot more sparse in Australia.
Even more sparse in the UK Todd
Another good video on another nice restoration. Thanks for sharing.
I know that some people were giving you grief over the bikes that you were painting, but I have to admit that to me, that was what set you apart from these other channels in the beginning. I do miss those painting videos, but I can also imagine that they took a good deal of time!
I love the bike and I enjoyed the video, and I'm certainly not complaining but I'm just wondering if you'll ever go back to the old format? I miss hearing you talk about the bike a little bit and the more in-depth build videos. Thanks!
Reminds me of being 12 - 13 years old and I used to build my own bikes from different bikes and parts laying about the children's home I was in.
Awesome
Got to love an old shovel video on a Sunday morning! 😊
Oh yah 🙌
Those Table Top tires really tie the room together and by room I mean bike.
Agreed 🙌
90s bikes are just beautiful. Thank you for sharing this magnificent build
Thanks
Clair De Lune ...... Like the colour of the bike......!
7000 series aluminum frame, i bet it's super light and stiff. XT always makes me smile. You have the best riding trails. Awesome build and video!
Thanks and I agree. I love the xt 8-speed bits.
I loved the Debussy choice, simply perfect for this video😊
Thanks 🙏
That generation of 8 speed Deore XT just worked so well, pleasure to use.
Great to see some tan walls on show. 👍🏻
When I have them and they work 😁. Personally I love tan walls.
@@oldshovel i like the look of tan walls but personally i have never seen a tan wall tire that didn't start wearing down and having the threads pop out
I love the build and those tires I want some for my bike
Marvelous use of Clair de Lune!
These restorations of 90's era mtb's just proves they're still good. I am thoroughly loving my '98 Barracuda XC URT 26er built up as a softtail gravel bike. It rides so well, I find myself neglecting my road and mtn bike. I plan on putting on racks front and rear so I can ride the Katy Trail in Missouri next year.
Awesome case in point. 🙌
Hello my friend! Beautiful painting, I have 29-inch bikes but I confess that these 26-inch models fascinate me. Your work is very good, they are true treasures.
Awesome thank you
Gotta love these 90's bikes. I would imagine myself going for a long ride using a 90's bike. 😍
Awesome
As always, your bike renovations are great and you can learn a lot.
Love the 90's... thanks for the notifications
That is a beautiful Scott love how you are keeping the 90’s mountain bikes alive. To me the new bikes have no soul like an old steel or aluminum frames do. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
The Table Top tires look good a riser bar would look cool to I like when you talk about a bike and the parts.
Thanks and noted. I planned to do a voiceover on this one. When I finished the edit, adding in the classical Debussy music, I started watching and found myself a bit mesmerized with the combo of the classical music and just admiring the beauty of the bike and parts and loved it that way so decided to keep it clean and clear noting that that is the way this build felt for me, clean clear and classical. Thanks for your comments my friend.
Thanks for a beautiful video.
Park tools are my favorite tools and products
Beautifull bike!! Great job as allways!! Regards from another bike enthusiast in Argentina.
Thanks
so peaceful- gosh your collection at this point is just absurd!
Love that XT....such a beautiful groupset. Bike looks great with Judy!
Agreed
You are lucky enough to ride in an epic landscape. The bike seems to ride like a charm…
Vantage virou vintage... Linda bike, lindo vídeo!
Thanks
Excelente y preciosa MTB, un trabajo bien hecho, me gusta muchísimo, saludos desde Colombia
Gracias
Awesome build (As usual)
Как всегда 10 из 10❤
🙏
Lovely rebuild
MTB Reatauration is Meditation, thanx
I know it takes a lot of work and time, but will we ever see a repaint restoration again?
Yes. I know I’ve been on a kick of keeping them as is and the last paint I did restored it to match the original paint…
May I ask what pad did you use at 1:48? Am thinking of doing a teardown and clean. Thanks!
Esse quadro é sensacional muito lindo esse quadro
Very nice soundtrack
Hurray 🎉
I would love to see some resto mod bikes. Restoration is fun, but drivetrain, brake, and suspension have come an eternity away from the 90s tech.
Nice 🇲🇦👍
Thanks! 😃
Nice- what are the coins in grips for? Luck?
I've got a question for you will tapered forks work on a 99schwinn moab
Likely not. At a minimum you will need a head tube with a minimum 44mm diameter which would accommodate an external headset bearing cup for the 1.5 inch bottom side of the steer tube on a tapered fork. There are some bikes that were made with internal headsets, using a 44mm head tube diameter around that time for 1 1/8” forks but the schwinn Moab was not one of them, it ran a 34mm head tube for external headset cups for a straight 1 1/8 steer tube fork.
stunning bike and build, may i ask what the coin in the handgrip is for? i haven't seen that done before other than on your channel.
I learned it here and since then, no damaged grips. You wont cut them with the end of your bars.
Thanks. The coins (US or Canadian nickels) are the perfect size to cap the handlebar ends inside soft single compound grips like the original Oury grips.
Nice! ❤
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
You will show how to maintain the freehub ratchet Shimano 🤗
Buy the right tool and open it up. Not rocket science
I want to ask something, why do you generally mount the bottom bracket from the opposite side?
Could you please tell me what recording you used for the background music -- who was the pianist, what year, etc.?
Looks quite similar to the Scott rockwood
Cool
En cuanto se vende esa belleza, alguien que me lo diga
Thanks
tu podrías hacer una propia. Yo me armé una Trek 1998 con partes Deore LX y por poco dinero, todo comprado por partes en Marketplace de Facebook.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@oldshovel hahahahahaha thanks.
😍😍😍
the frame is cracked below the seatpost clamp, I don't think it's a scratch
🤙🤙🤙🤙🤟🤟😉😉😉
🙏🙏🙌🙌😁😁😁
Without the music it’d be a good asmr video and my favorite seat for year ,the bel air
can I request can you find trek 4400 mtb and restore it
Good on that bike you with long arms because some of the bikes you build don't look like they fit you because you always put straight bar and small riser
Sorry, it was dirt. the frame is very clean, great retro bike
Unfortunatelly Im to big for 26" wheels😢
Oh man can all your vids plz end with riding to Debussy?
I’m glad you liked it 🙌
Hello
Howdy
GT7
DeBussy - nice.
Youre going full on hipster cool mode with the piano at the beginning. Please dont.
lol 😂
Soundtrack was very depressing sounded like you was going to a funeral
Your grammar was more depressing than the soundtrack.
Classic, i have a Fuji 27.5” a KHS 29” and my baby a Gary Fisher advantage 26”.⚡️💪🏻🚵🏽
Awesome
