What the hell is 1 thunder spear gonna do? Nothing as literally both of them survive the explosion. And zeke regenerates so why the fuck wouldn’t he go for the pseudo kamikaze. For those wondering why Levi didn't kill Zeke. Not only do they potentially lose another titan to Marley, but Zeke is the key to activating the rumbling. Without a titan of royal blood Paradis can't activate the rumbling anymore. Remember the current plan is for Historia to inherit the Beast Titan.

    • @Sornemus
      @Sornemus ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Well, not entirely true. They just need any titan with royal blood line - so mindless-titan-Historia would also work, apparently. In any case, it is not bound to Beast titan, it is just the royal blood + being titan.
      Thought it is not guaranteed that it can use Founder's powers without limits - because Historia is from royal family's branch that pledged a vow renouncing war, so they cannot wish to "free Paradis" at all. Zeke thought, is from royal family's part that stayed on continent, so his branch is not bound by this vow.
      The show, sadly, never stated if there is any such difference at all.
      Everyone (both Eren and Levi/Hange/Co) just didn't want to use Historia in such a way - so they all were determined to only go with Zeke's option.

      Yes Historia as a mindless titan would work, however they wouldn't be able to transform her into one until she gives birth, or the royal bloodline would be completely gone and it obviously means condemning her to death.

    Eren's entire conversation with Mikasa and Armin felt like it was a lie but mixed in with the truth. Ackermans do have a free will and the ability to choose what they do and do not. They control their own freedom, we know this because of what Kenny and his grandpa said back in season 3. "The king fears us Ackermans. Why? Because he can't control us, the Ackerman defied whatever the royal decicded to do with the eldians, that's why we are being persecuted."
    There were also hints all the way back from season 1 of Armin kinda liking Annie which also writes off the statement that "Bertholdt" was in Armin's head and manipulating him.
    Last episode in the conversation between Yelena and Pyxis, Pyxis said this "The most convincing lie has a pinch of truth mixed in it."

    Honestly the fact that you got the two people who haven't watched the series have conflicting viewpoints on how the show should proceed shows how incredible the writing is. At the end of the day, there is no "wrong" or "right" answer in the decisions and viewpoints that these characters have. They're at war, and they're doing the best they can to stick to the beliefs they have, whether it be for humanity that they know, or humanity that they don't know. Personally, I stopped being team Eren when he beat up Armin and called Mikasa a slave. However I completely understand why people would stand with him 100%. At the end of the day, morals are extremely subjective. As much as we'd like to believe they're inherit or at least learned through our teachers, morals are something that have to be constantly questioned. And that's one of the main highlights of this manga/show. There's no such thing as black and white in morality. Finding your shade of gray is what makes an individual figure out what to fight for.

      Interesting, but I disagree.
      We start from two realities:
      Objective is that which we cannot deny and that regardless of whether we understand it or not, it will affect us all equally, just as gravity does with us, no matter if we are good or bad gravity exists and affects us equally.
      Subjective is that which is proper to the subject, they are points of view that may well differ from those of other people or not, but even so, they do not affect the objectivity of the object in question, in other words, my subjective opinion will not affect the existing reality of the object.
      Objective truths are undeniable truths, which even by attempting to deny them you actually deny your assertion, such as the statement "There is no truth".
      Morality is objective, the way in which people have applied it is subjective. Subjective morality poses the ignorance of objective rules. Each human being is free to dictate his own rules of behavior, therefore, there are no moral or immoral people. For example: We are wrong if we believe that torturing puppies for fun is a morally wrong act. For in such an action there is no objective property that tells us precisely that it is immoral.

    • @misterowl3086
      @misterowl3086 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Genocide is never morally acceptable, but then again Eren doesn't concern himself with such things because his main concern is survival and freedom, not a moral high ground. He accepted the people he is going to kill are mostly innocent like the fez kid, but he needs to become a devil to archive his goals, its the fate he has resigned himself to be.
      In short, is Eren morally right? No. Is he justified? That depends on how far you are comfortable with atrocities that benefit you.

It was so obvious, I thought everyone would understand it when they first watched it. I really love Eren, more than any other character, so this conflict was so hard to watch. One moment that I thought was important from season 1 is when Eren learns the lesson from the female titan chase through the forest- trusting your comrades gets them killed and he needs to take the moment into his own hands and fight for himself. He regrets so much that he didn’t transform in time to help Levi squad fight. I feel like that moment helped me understand or at least grapple w his mindset this season. But wow I hated him saying that to mikasa and armin, but especially to mikasa. To strip someone of their humanity completely and insult them like that is insane. When Hanes and Sasha got killed he laughed, and this is an extreme way to show how someone can handle something that he has trouble accepting. So he distance hisself from the fear or pain of the circumstance by laughing it off.
    In the manga when Eren killed the civilians in Marely his face shows how he really feels about what he has done, he knew that this is the only way and it has to be done like that, but nevertheless it goes against his nature.

  • @stevengucum
    @stevengucum ปีที่แล้ว +55

    Armin had this idea when he was younger that in order to win, there has to be some monster that is willing to sacrifice anything. Floch and Eren are this idea elevated to the absolute. For some reason, people love to simplify everything: this group of people is good cos they are protecting island, this group of people is bad cos they are trying to stop them. It was this simple only at the begining, but it is much more layered and complicated now. Moreover, show criticises this way of thinking, Eren still chooses to see everything like it's black and white (or, it's more accurate to say that he acts as if the world was black and white), it's easier. That way there is a simple solution to everything. But, since world is not black and white, it doesn't solve anything, the destruction and more suffering is the main result. I believe this message to be the main reason this show even exists

    • @asc_1949
      @asc_1949 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I think it's pretty clear that Eren already understands that the world isn't black and white. Especially when you look at the newest episode, he's extremely conflicted morally but knows that there is no perfect choice to make. Eren has always prioritized freedom and his loved ones, and the only option that both keeps them free and ensures their safety is the rumbling. From the Mikasa backstory we know Eren will take freedoms from others if his own is threatened.
      To him, the euthanization plan is unjust, as the only ones who end up with consequences are the Eldians (when they lose their right to reproduce and exist in the future). Why should Eldians be punished when the Marleyans have been oppressing them for so long?
      Eren also sees Paradis government's inaction as a slow death. Though they have the best morals, they don't actually have a solution and nothing gets solved.
      Eldians staying on the island isn't what he wants either. Because of Armin, Eren wants to go and see the world. To Eren, the plan of staying on the island and using the rumbling as a threat will never make Eldians truly free and essentially just traps them in a cage.
      By this logic there's no way to make Eldians free, besides the rumbling.
      The show critiques racism, war, and fascism really well. Isayama shows how easy the road to radicalization and violence really is. It's no ones fault that they are in the situation they are in; Eren killed thousands because Reiner killed thousands. Reiner killed thousands because he was brainwashed by ideologies ingrained into him as a kid by Marleyans. Marleyans are like this because they were also taught this by their ancestors. Their ancestors think this way because they lived through Eldian oppression. This can be traced forever into the past.
      "We gotta get the children out of that forest at the very least. Or else... We would just keep on circling around the same place. That's why, it is the burden of us adults to shoulder the sins and hatred of the past". To end the cycle of hatred and violence we must learn to forgive, or else we will keep passing the hatred and trauma to future generations again.

    • @stevengucum
      @stevengucum ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@asc_1949 Eren knows the world is complicated, hence I said "he acts as if it was black and white". "I wanted to save Eldia, BUT there is more. When I learned there were people outside of the walls, I was disappointed. I was so disappointed, I wanted to wipe it all out". He is irritated that the world is too complicated. That there are no objectively bad enemies he can wipe out to obtain freedom like before. Rumbling is just that - an easy solution. The only thing he can and always could do - is destroy in order to obtain this fake "freedom". In fact, it was made pretty clear that all people are already free. Even though Reiner was "brainwashed", he chose to proceed with the mission in order to achieve his dream of becoming a hero even after realising how horrible his actions are. Even though Erwin was led by his dream to know the truth, he chose to discard it in order to do the right thing. Everyone can make a choice that impacts their story. Eren wants different freedom - he wants a freedom obtained from destroying the one, who is restricting him. People outside restrict him from experiencing an empty, "free" world.
      Ofcourse the other main reason he did the rumbling was to protect his friends. It doesn't make it the right choice. It doesn't fix anything, it only destroys things and shrinks the world down to 1 island, where there is still enough space for hatred

    every time Zeke realises that Levi still exists, his reaction always cracks me up ! 😂
    being caught up with the show makes this episode a bit more bearable to watch because i hated it so much (though today it is painful to watch for different reasons we are aware of now) and every emotional reaction Cannon had was so relatable 😭 in the next videos, even when he blinks i’m sure i will be like ‘SAME’
    um... omg, doesn't matter what we know today, this episode still leaves me speechless, i can't believe it. everytime i try to think of something to say, the clown emoji keeps popping up on every character's face, especially those guys who volunteered to beat up Keith Shadis. seriously... clowns everywhere, except Eren of course... that mastermind puppet master...💔

      @@hgo6000 Eren was in the wrong, and Armin was in the right in that scene. Eren was demonstrating emotional immaturity, thinking that saying the "true" thing is better than saying the "right" thing. Its not about whether what he has said to mikasa and armin is true or not, it was that he was burning the bridges between him and mikasa/armin, the two people that stuck with him the most. Armin punched eren on behalf of mikasa, both hurt and betrayed by Eren.

      @@hgo6000 Yes if the circumstances are "normal" like in a bar and someone antagonizes you, but not in extraordinary circumstances like this show, where the stakes are terrifyingly high, you are a military personnel, and the person who u thought was your friend is also an insurgency leader who has just brought his troops to you.

      Eren was telling facts and speaking honestly about how he feels.
      Armin resorted to shouting, attempting to silence Eren, and violence. Armin, who's always pro-dialogue, even with murderers who've killed thousands of people. Armin, who has once said to his childhood bullies: "you're resorting to violence because you can't win an argument".
      The one who's immature here is Armin. Eren is closer to Armin's ideals in this episode, because he at least tried to talk things out, even though he didn't have to.

    I really like Carter's way of thinking and how he doesn't form his opinion based purely on emotions and tries to see the bigger picture. That's the right way to watch this show and understand characters' actions, and it will be rewarded by it. That's kinda the thing with Yeagerists as well. Most people just immediately start hating them just because they oppose most main characters, without seeing that their only goal and everything they're doing is to protect the island and their people from being exterminated by the outside world

    • @gammelbua4799
