Manga readers had to wait A MONTH after Gabi shot Eren’s head off. It was the most brutal cliffhanger I’ve ever experienced in my life 😅
Mannn if there's one thing i'm jealous of when it comes to manga readers (because i am a pure anime-only for anything i watch) is that i will never experience the true hype of me and my peers not knowing what comes next after a cliffhanger.
On one hand, waiting a month after a cliffhanger like that must have been insanely awful, but on the other hand, that's the kind of experience thatt makes you look back and be grateful for it hahaha. As an anime-only, it's rare to have thatt kind of experience.

Bad theory, founder ymirs titan was horrific, I don't think they're meant replicate perfect human bodies, she just makes the tool that the person evoking the power needs, this is eluded to in s1 with the spoon scene.

Zeke’s pitching arm is legendary. However, he will be most remembered for making the most spectacular, season saving catch. It was mind blowing.

It’s honestly so poetic. Galliard has hated Reiner for the longest time. And with both of them knocking at death’s door, Galliard sacrificed himself, knowing he would be able to make Reiner suffer both physically and emotionally for even longer. Sad to see but very well written

The title of this episode was really smart cause theres technically 3 brothers in the picture (eren and zeke, falco and colt, porco and marcel) but they all share the same principal of being two siblings. The aim of this was that sibling (brother love) never dies. Its so sad :(

I developed a huge attachment to Falco and this episode genuinely broke my heart. The way his brother tried so hard to save him and stayed with him til death… it took me a while to recover from that.

The one thing we don't know is how Eren's Titan would've looked, if even it would've looked different had he acquired the Founding Titan's powers. But it's safe to say that Eren vs the world(without the rumbling rolling the red carpet for him) is an easy loss for him.

Some people think it was because they didn't trust eachother enough at the moment, others say that if they did, they would have to keep the fight in Liberio till the colosal titans came to Marley, which could be very bad considering it would be Hammer, Jaw, and Cart together. But pretty sure there's not a cannon answer to this

Eren dropping the ball really gave away that he was not on board. A lot of reactors are somewhat annoyed because of the flashback after that jaw dropping scene, Like why would isayama put that there if it was just a trivial thing. I hope they noticed that, I really like those minute details sprinkled everywhere. Like the time when eren said "wait" and his face was worried zeke was going to scream, I bet he wanted to connect with zeke right away so people won't get turned.

I think it's for similar reason why the Zeke first scream didn't reach everyone - because it had limited range. Later (just as walls about to fall off) you can see electricity from titan abilities surge through the floor.
Of course in retrospect it's simple to say that royal blood + founding gives god like abilities with no range limit. But I'm not sure if they knew that or didn't understood it's full extent.
Another thing is they didn't know what would happen to themselves when they come into contact. Would they immediately turn into titans? If so, them hiding underground could kill them - especially that Eren didn't had Warhammer there.
Or would a huge spark of electricity show up, signalling to Marley that something is wrong. Too many unknowns to risk it in the hornets nest, hence Zeke's plan of wine etc.
So why couldn't eren turn everyone back into humans after acquiring the full power
@MEMES Overkill I think it's just part of Eren's plan of gaining the trust of zeke. Zeke doesn't want bloody war in the heart of Marley, especially where the people he cares about, his grandparents, live. Also, there are things he did back in the island that I think were very important to give context to Armin and Everybody else, which also is part of his greater plan. I don't want to spoil anyone so this is as vague as I can be haha

This episode is one of my favorites, and we see how all three older brothers were trying to protect their younger brothers. I love the relationship that Colt and Falco have with each other. Porco finally realizes that Marcel did what he did to save him from becoming a titan and cutting his lifespan shorter. Zeke and Eren's relationship makes you think about how they never truly had time to know each other more, not even shake each other's hands (even though) Zeke didn't want to shake his hand just yet because of the coordinate. RIP Colt, Porco, Eren's head, Zeke, Pyxis, and Nile.

Colt and Zeke used to play catch together when they had downtime in Marley. They shared some precious time together. Although, Zeke appeared mysterious to him in some ways, Colt trusted him as Zeke had chosen him as his successor (Marley must have allowed Zeke to pick the successor as he had some "magic" in his blood according to Marley).
That's why Colt decided to talk to Zeke to let him know that Falco drank the spinal fluid. There were 60 m tall walls around them, they couldn't escape his screaming radius even if they ran in the opposite direction but somewhere in his heart, he wanted to trust Zeke that he would stop if he knew Colt's little brother drank the wine.
Colt asked Gabi to bring a horse by the time he convinces Zeke so that Gabi and Falco could escape together. Even in Liberio, Colt was the only one trying to protect the little warriors.
Zofia had died beside him and Udo died in his arms and he was helpless, he couldn't save both of them. All this time, Falco had disappeared. Then he saw Falco and Gabi board the enemy's ship, he tried to grab Falco before he escaped but fell short. Colt was left all alone and helpless again.
Zeke's scream reverberated through his core and he could sense the same felling building in him again - feeling of helplessness.
This time he was not letting go of Falco. His older brother will protect him. A last desperate attempt at saving his little brother - his family. Even if it was the last thing he would do, Colt hugged Falco tightly as long as the Grice brothers were still alive.
It had hurt a lot, being rejected, being left behind. Porco wondered "Why was I not chosen ? I aced all the tasks assigned to me and I was better than him in everything." But this pain was nowhere closer than the fact that his brother had sacrificed himself for Reiner. For Reiner, the one who was the "good for nothing". Marcel was a gifted leader, Porco's older brother was more of an asset than Reiner. This question was drilling a hole in Porco all this time. When he inherited Ymir's titan, Porco looked through her memories to search for the answer. But he couldn't find anything.
Still he followed in his brother's footsteps and become a powerful weapon of Marley. He hated Reiner but protected him multiple times because they were comrades now, embarking on missions with the same goal. Porco tried forgetting the past failure and moving forward. His job now was to follow his brother and become a warrior just like him. All Porco wanted was to prove himself, that he was worthy of becoming a warrior - more specifically the armored one.
When Reiner touched him and the memory of Marcel triggered, Porco was finally able to see his brother again - he looked so young. In that instant, he saw his brother crying and apologizing. Marcel was sorry he deceived Reiner. He protected Porco. Finally Porco realized, he was not rejected but saved, that he was worthy. But Marcel wanted atleast him to live a long life. Marcel really loved his young brother.
Then Marcel protected Reiner. That's what a young, innocent but honourable child burdened with guilt would do. Porco knew that his brother was a true warrior - He saved the Armored titan.
It was time to follow Marcel completely. He should protect his comrades just like his brother.
Porco saw he could save both Falco and Reiner.
It was time to join him.
Marcel's brother , Pieck's other family and the Jaw Titan was always a true warrior.

Dude. Porco said it himself that he was all out of power to heal himself. So he rubbed it in Reiners face how he knew why Reiner was picked to be the Armored Titan as he gave himself up to be eaten by Falco. The final slap in the face was telling him he always knew he was better than Reiner. Its really not all that deep. I love AoT as much as the next person, but omg the fans that think they literally know what was going on inside the minds of fictional characters, are so next level burnt out, its ridiculous.
It just boils down to if you have the founding titan as a member of royal blood, you’re bound by the kings ideology. Zeke is the only person to be in the paths without actually having the founding titan, therefore he’s not bound by the ideology and since he’s royal blood, he can command basically anything.

@MEMES Overkill It has something to do with trust between them. Zeke never trusted Eren even after coming in contact. You can see the old man Zeke in paths pranking Eren. Also coming in contact in marly pauses many risks like Zeke doesn't know the result, and also it may cause Historia too
One thing I never noticed my first watch through: when Zeke is about to scream, right before he does, Eren reaches toward him and says, "Wait." A quick moment, but to me, it showed how Eren didn't want at least Falco, but more likely, any of the soldiers to be turned into titans.
And he didn’t want his friends to be at risk

Eren never died. Severed heads are still conscious for a second or so after being detached from the body. Zeke said himself: "we made contact _before_ you passed on". Now they're in the coordinate where time is instant but also infinite. In other words, as this entire coordinate sequence is happening, by comparison to inside the coordinate, time is moving so slowly in the outside world that it is basically paused.

I know you guys are caught up.
But the reason why Zeke is not bound by the vow renouncing war is because he is just a 'Titan with Royal Blood'.
To be bound by the vow, you need 3 things
1.) Have Royal Blood
2.) Have Founding Titan
3.) Be in the place of the paths where Ymir is
The King first assumed that the 2 conditions above are necessary for us to reach to the 3rd destination.
But Eren and Zeke have found a way to reach there while neither Eren nor Zeke have the combined first 2 conditions satisfied.
But that doesn't make any sense, when you think about it. (2) is redundant, because the power of the Founding is not limited to having the Founding Titan.
The vow was made by the Founder powers, which is through Yimir, by a royal commanding her. Having a Founding Titan is just a redundancy.
The vow is not about who has it, but who can accesses to its powers.
If Zeke can access the powers of the Founder, then for all intents and purposes he is the Founder.
And don't get me start on the whole logic of the vow. It's a mess.

The whole eating a Founder is a logical nonsense as much as the vow is.
As I said, it is not who has the Founder, but who can access the powers. The vow comes from Yimir, aka by the Founder's powers. Who has the Founding Titan is redundant, because it's just a vessel for the power. The power and royals are the crucial thing.
Here is another argument....Can you have the exactly the same vow being made, but from the situation Zeke was in? If the answer is yes, which certainly seems to be, then possessing the Founder Titan is redundant and it can go both ways.

It’s because Zeke got into paths (the sandy place) without eating the founder titan and inheriting the king’s will, so due to being free from that ideology, he was able to nullify it
the next 2 episodes are just 10/10 with this one this is probably my 3 favourites of all time
The reason why zeek is not bound to the vow of king fritz like all the others is because he did not inherent the memories of the king through titan succession.
Fun fact in season 3 the scene where eren harden his titan for the first time and mikasa and jean pulled him out , there was foreshadowing his founding titan form

I'm so happy your haters react to AOT S1E1 popped up in my recommended page one random day, and I cant believe we're finally on this last bit of arc before we're full circle. Every moment of this episode is chilling-from Colt’s protective love, which was so relatable, to Porco’s death. I don’t know how I ended up liking his character but his exit made me feel a lot… especially acknowledging that he was not wearing his armband when he died. For real, the wings of freedom on the warriors backs is peak symbolism, along with Eren not catching Zeke’s baseball. And the way Eren reacted when Gabi and Falco appeared all of a sudden gets me everytime; his first instinct was to protect them from Zeke's scream.
Also, the shot at 6:43 is one my favorites. If one pauses and has no idea what's going on, they'd be just seeing the depiction of war as it is.
Confusion and sanguinary chaos, and a child standing in the middle of it all… The artistry of this scene is surreal.
Oh and the intro was such a treat, thank you for sharing this with us ! 😂 You really went from "no way we are going to pull a Jackson move" to "We are going to Sasageyou our Shinzous for the rest of our lives!", didn't you ? And you totally vowed it mimicking Erwin's voice, we all heard it.

I've been watching you guys from season 2 and been waiting for this moment so much. I just love how good these episodes execute the coming plot twist.

Two brothers was such an amazing episode. I remember thinking wtf is going on when erens life was flashing before his eyes. Also seeing pure titans again and hearing that iconic song was a throwback to seasons 1 and 2.

Colt's death was the first in the series to make me sob. Giving his life so that his little brother didn't feel alone, but rather loved in his final moments as a human was so beautiful & heartbreaking. Even moreso when you realize Falco was saved in a sense...

Zeke never actually died. It's that he felt like he was dying because of just how messed up he got from that Thunder Spear. That's when he first woke up in The Coordinate, and why to him it feels like he's been there years. He sat and watched Ymir rebuild him for however long that took her, and now he's done the same with Eren.

Here's the real reason Zeke isn't bound to the will of the King within the wall. Zeke has royal blood and is from outside wall royal line which means he doesn't have to obey the curse "not to fight" because he isn't a descendant of King Fritz, he is from another part of the royal family which didn't go inside walls with King Fritz so he doesn't have King Fritz's will. He is from a diverging bloodline that stayed in Marley and wasn't inheriting the king's pacificism from the bloodline within the wall.

2 reasons why Zeke wasn't chained by the vow:
- He didn't possess the Founding, and the vow was made with th Founding.
- He may not be a descendant of Karl Fritz, since there was a divide in the royal family. Maybe the ones that remained on the continent (Dina->Zeke) were not directly descendant of him.

Well, obviously they're all Fritz, they are all royal. That's no brainer.
But if the father of Karl Fritz had 2 boys, and Karl Fritz went to the island and then made the vow, his brother (which could be the great grand father of Dina) would not be affected by the vow.
They explain the vow as being inherited by Karl Fritz's line, not the Fritz in general.
