The exciting trip up the Stanserhorn on the CabriO cableway and funicular railway, which dates back to 1893, is like taking a trip through cableway history. A 100 kilometer Alpine chain, 10 Swiss lakes, Stanserhorn rangers, marmots, a plant protection area with enchanting flora and fauna, culinary delights in the Stanserhorn revolving restaurant, the specialty Älplermagronen from an edelweiss pot and lots more are just waiting to be discovered on the Stanserhorn. 1,900 meters above everyday life . A very warm welcome to the Stanserhorn Railway.

Accessibility: train from Lucerne to Stans, walk to the valley station (5 minutes), open-car funicular to Kelty, change to CabriO to Stanserhorn.
Schedule: Open during the summer season (April to mid-November).
Travel time: 24 minutes to the top.
Attractions: CabriO ride on the open top deck of a double-decker cable car, summit tour with rangers, romantic candlelit dinners at the summit every Friday and Saturday.
Gastronomy: Revolving restaurant "Rondorama" and self-service restaurant Bucher & Durrer Stubli, specialty: Älplermagronen, served in a pot of edelweiss.

You gotta love engineers. The whole thing is a engineering miracle! And then the view! If you got the fear of heights or distrust in big crazy machines (or both) it would probably give you trauma. But the the view is almost worth dying for, lol. I would never get tired of living in Switzerland, it's my favorite country

These designs are incredible and people are creating them! I am impressed . Perhaps in another country I would not risk visiting such cable cars, but in Switzerland safety is more important for people and they do not prioritize making more money, they would rather refuse the trip if they find a malfunction, and will not endanger people if you saw that they allow a certain number of people on board and that is the free space. It is perfectly!

What I love so much about the cable car is it actually doesnt get much above tall tree level, its a bit of an illusion because lt stays level to the side of the mountain,, so much easier and less scary than cable cars that take you over a sheer drop.

It's very cheap to go there, the hostel's are not high at all. You can find one cheap for just two people. Food is reasonable too, just find the out-of-the way little mom&pop diners and don't spend on the fancy fixin's. The CabriO is really cheap for what you get. But I would like to find the most risky and dangerous and scary of them all. I travel with my son to all the most scary roller-coasters in the world (well, you don't have to travel the world because most of the good ones are concentrated in very few places.)

Ah yes Switzerland, where *everything works* and *everything is perfect* and *everything is beautiful* . I have spent a lot of time there and it is one of my very favorite places to visit and explore. But looking at those perfect houses and perfect grass and perfect cows I sometimes can't help but think it's a little bit boring. What do the local people do all day? Where is the excitement? Where is the "edge"?
Oh yes, life in Switzerland is calmer and more measured. They like to spend carnivals with dressing up, swimming in the river, games, mountains, skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, horse racing, camping, golf, concerts, perhaps this somehow compensates for boredom. Thanks for sharing!😁🙌🫶🏻

You missed something, by the Funicular, if you go to the side of the Building, you can have a look at the Drivetrain and the Electricmotor, the big Gearbox. Also you can ask and most likely they will let you inside the technical room of the Funicular, thats what i did a few years back. Sadly they wont let you into the technical room of the big Cablecar cause its quite cramped and dangerous.
