Been there last week, absolutely impressive to stand at almost 3900 meters and have a closeup view of the Breithorn, a 4000+ meter peak. To all the haters: not exactly sure what it’s “ruining”, the Swiss and Italians have a knack for making mountains accessible in a non-intrusive way.
As a Swiss I can confirm this is true. Buildings such as these on a mountain add to the mountain experience instead of ruining it. The mountain is still there, nothing that has been built is big enough do ruin a mountain.
I was there a little over a month ago as well, I loved being able to pop out of the station to climb Breithorn and be back in Zermatt in just a few hours. The Klein Matterhorn cable car provides phenomenal access to to the mountains for all kinds of people who would otherwise never get to experience the views and terrain you find up there.

Maybe you meant "Altoatesini engineers". If you really knew the area where they come from you would know that altoatesini are South Tyroleans for first and nothing they have to do with Germans. It is true that they are a german speaking community (more exactly an austrian speaking) but they are Italian by birth and passport as well is 100% Italian the company those engineers work for. And for what i know so far the other big worlwide competitor of HTI (of which Leiner it is part) is the austrian Doppelmayr. So no typical German industrial sector, perhaps in the future but not now.
The roof on a new stadium in Detroit collapsed because the team putting it together thought it would flex better under extreme weather variations if they left half the bolts out. When they rebuilt it, the engineers had to explain the roof was designed to flex with ALL the bolts in.
They would be some fit and tough lads working there. Working at altitude in extreme conditions and shovelling constantly is like being in the gym all day every day.
Overall great channel with docs like they used to be!! Not sure if you are the producers of the docs themselves. If you have influence, here's some well-intended feedback: All the docs that I've seen have, in my opinion, oversimplified or "dumbed things down" too much. Sometimes even minor factual errors just to swoop over a detail instead of diving in a little bit deeper. Also just in this one I think you don't need to fade the music. Keep it at the lower level as a maximum. Thank you for your hard work!
“was”, perhaps taking into account the fact that over the past week three dubious two-minute news clips have been posted. If they continue in the same vein, then I will unsubscribe, this is not what I need.
Interesting, the testing on the wires and components was done at a lower altitude and a normal temperature, let’s hope it holds up to the extreme conditions where it counts
Believe me, these people, companies and engineers know what they are doing and this is not the first cable car they are building (there are around 2,400 cable car systems in Switzerland).
5 minutes explaining exactly what problem they have solved would have been nice. Is there a tunnel for people to walk through to the other cable car at the top? How do people get to the base station which is just 1.5km lower than the peak?

It only appears to be moving since the camera is moving. You can see two of them on the left side at 20:53, another one at 23:05 and three of them again at 27:38..

Italian engineering is high class. I hope the mafia stays out, since are now again ruining the country and this time it’s very serious. I hope for Italy they can overcome the situation.
Not exactly, this new gondola lift adds more possibilities of access to the glacier in the international ski area Zermat (Switzerland)-Cervinia (Italy). Although it is likely that they will raise the daily cost from the current 70 to €90/100
It seems common these days to hear women say "We don't need men." I wonder how many of those women will be riding this, and whether their opinion might change.
YIKES! 60 million Euros sure sounds impressive! But um.....hold on there folks; cause once again it's California that REALLY knows how to SPEND money; Ladies and Gentlemen; I give you the puny, 200 hundred long, Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing outside of Los Angeles that is projected to cost $92 MILLION ! (84,579,280. Euro!!!) It's basically a "Disneyland style" bridge over the 101 highway for deer and mountain lions. America; FOOK YEAH!
I know it’s added for drama, but one needs to be careful how many times they say how it’s being built on a strict deadline….. I personally won’t interact with machinery that was built according to timeline rather than quality. Use China and their many belt and road projects for example. It’s all falling apart…..Tom
Why are they building this cable car system in the first place? Who are the commuters who need this? Or is it yet another pricey tourist trap at 100 francs per ride?
It is certainly not intended for commuters, tourists, skiers who want to go from the Italian to the Swiss side (or vice versa). This trip alone certainly doesn't cost CHF 100, but I wouldn't expect it to be cheap either.

That's something I didn't expect ...

That's why building at sea level is so much easier. You don't have to use any fasteners.

I need to correct something. Fatzer is located in Romanshorn Switzerland. Not in Germany. Great documentary..
Well, they don't say it's in Germany, they say the raw material comes from Germany.
All of these "new" Cable Car components will be used to repair/replace existing Cable Car runs throughout the region.
