Thanks to all your great videos I had a amazing trip to Switzerland at the beginning of October. I think Lucerne was one of my favorite cities. And yes, great food was had. 😋
Thank you for your kind compliments! We strive for professionalism and genuinely helpful content, so we're grateful to hear that you experienced both in this video! :)
Epic video .... Thanks legends. Am moving from Australia to Lucerne this summer and excited... What were the best day trips you guys loved? Smiles from Australia
Regarding possible excursions from Lucerne, I would also mention the fact that in addition to the Tell Express there is an hourly Taktfashrplan train over the Gotthard 'Panoramastrecke' which run to Locarno on l]Lake Maggiore. Locarno is quite different in character from Lugano (or Como).
Thank you so much for all the useful information about Lucerne and all of Switzerland!! I recently purchased your one week Jungfrau region guide and love it so much! I'm wondering whether you will create guides for Zermatt in the future?
We're so happy to hear that our Guides and videos have been helpful while you're planning your trip!! And yes, a Zermatt Guide will be coming in the future :)
Yes, you can do this by train! In fact, you can not actually reach either destination without using transportation, so this makes the most sense. Enjoy!
Great video! While I love Basel (because of family ties and it's just a cool city) if one could go to only one quintessential Swiss city, I always recommend Luzern. If possible give yourself more than a day there to explore all around the lake. The views are beautiful, whether from the city wall, boats or mountaintop excursions. My first few trips I would always stay in the city itself, but lately have enjoyed staying in nearby small communities/towns and just hop on the very convenient public transportation system. Wonderful organized tips as usual, Jana & Brett! Thanks!
Laura, your comments are always so helpful! We're happy to hear that you also recommend Lucerne as the best traditional city to visit. But oh my goodness, you could spend days exploring all over the lake! Like you, we often like to stay on the edge of things just outside of the city. It's quieter and often even more charming. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, Laura! We always like hearing from you :)
Not sure which OB pass you’re talking about?? But if you mean the Berner Oberland Pass, no, it will only get you to the Luzern Bahnhof and then you’ll need to buy a ticket from there to Vitznau.
I need help .I'm planning to visit swizeland in this year . planning to start traveling from zurich to interlaken from interlack to lauterbrunnen, from lauterbrunnen to grindelwald and last not least to lucerne Please help to understand whether they are all in the same route or if I have to travel to a different city to get to one of each place ? Please give little detail on the on these ?
Usually gondolas and ziplines are in the mountains, so I can't think of any in the big cities. But there are a ton of daytrips from Lucerne where you could enjoy these activities!
Hi Reginald! Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted (but AMEX isn't accepted nearly as often). You shouldn't need much cash, but we always bring a debit card or two, and use those to get cash from an ATM. You can find these in the airports, at all the train stations, outside of banks, etc. Hope this helps!
You're so welcome! No, we have specific videos for that, but we do have packing video that may help! Otherwise, dressy casual and dresses are always a good option in Italy!
Some great stuff here - we stopped for an hour between trains on the way back to Zurich - mostly to see *that* bridge! Would definitely like to do a deeper dive at some point :)
Hi! Unfortunately we don't have a dog so we would not be very helpful with this. But dogs are generally accepted everywhere (stores, restaurants, trains, etc.). Small dogs may sit on your lap or under the seat on trains while larger dogs require a half price ticket. You can read more about that on the SBB website. Hope that helps!
Thanks again for a great video. We do plan to go to Como either before or after our stay in Grindelwald. Since you did mention it here. Would, in your opinion, it be better to go to Como and that area say Varenna) from Lucerne or Zermatt? Or doesn't it matter. We will be in touch before we go.
Just stroll along the lake in Lucerne or try a boat trip to Küsnacht, from where the cog railway takes you to Mt Rigi. There‘s so much to do, even myself as a Swiss living in the area never get tired of the views! Hope you‘ll enjoy it!
Good question! If you already have a Swiss Travel Pass, it's unlikely you'll get additional benefits from a guest card. But always take a look at the discounted activities just in case! By the way, you'll receive a guest card automatically when you're an overnight guest in an area that offers one!
Can you guys please make a video on Swiss Grocery stores and how you buy things there ? As you have said earlier in many previous videos that it's better to often cook in airbnbs than eat in restaurants, so can you please tell how you guys do that? Thank you so much!
Hey - super informative video, thank you! I am going to Swiss in June and have 1 night stay both in Geneva and Zurich. When asked for the city card / guest card by the hotels (both three stars one) they simply denied saying they dont issue one. In that case can i use my lodging details to travel freely in the city?
Not every city has Guest Cards, so that's probably why! And sometimes you cannot get the card until you arrive at the hotel. Every city is a bit different so you'll just need to discuss with your particular hotel!
You have to stay overnight somewhere like a hotel, Airbnb, holiday apartment or campground. Your host will give you the guest cards either a few days before your arrival or on the day you check in.
Hello! Would you recommend staying in Lucerne for a month? Planning a trip for the month of December and can’t decide where would be a good place to base myself. TIA!
Hey guys. Hope you doing well. Can you so an information video for Rheinfall please? Price and how long you need to visit around, food halal food possibly. And if someone drive all the way from interlaken. As far as i know even that is very big tourist attraction area. Thank you
We have been there (before we started our TH-cam channel) but we don't have any videos there yet. We walked around the falls (did not take a boat) and really enjoyed it. It's a 2.5 hour drive from Interlaken, although we think there are plenty of beautiful waterfalls near Interlaken as well!
You're so welcome! Yes, this video was filmed in June 2023. Don't trust your cell phone weather app - use www.meteoswiss.ch instead. It's way more accurate!
Thanks so much for your well researched vids! I cant help but notice that your pronunciation of especially German words is pretty rough. Maybe you could study up on german pronunciation, or even listen to how the locals say things. Since there are SO many place names pronounced differently in German, you could even do a video on it! ❤
We really enjoy researching and learning! Clearly we’re not native German speakers, but there are so many dialects that even the locals pronounce places differently depending on where they are from! It’s been fascinating to learn Hoch Deutsch in a place that speaks variations of Schweizer Deutsch 🙃
First thing you need to know when producing images/films for TH-cam or Facebook/Instagram: Swiss car numbers must always be pixelated. If the car number is shown without pixels, the driver can sue the creator. There are tons of tourist videos on TH-cam that show license plates that are not pixelated, thus abusing drivers' data protection.
O molte grazie.

You’re correct that there are usually regular trains that also run along the panoramic routes!
Watching again for my upcoming trip🤗🤗🤗

Which side of the train should i sit from Interlaken to Luzern if i want to see the nice scenery? We’re going on Friday!
Definitely sit on the right side of the train!!
I'm going from Luzern to Interlaken should I sit on the left? 😊
@@adrianacabreradiaz267yes! The view was gooooorgeous!!!
I love that the farmers in the area put out bread and produce in small boxes by the road
Complete honour system
We love this too!! We made a video about this in the Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen area, but they do this all over the country!

Thanks for all information🌹

What do you recommend for the month of December just for 1 night?
Hi Edward! Are you wondering about a specific hotel or place of lodging, or another question?

I live in Bern. Coop (pronounced like cope) and Migro (Meegrow) are the 2 biggest grocery store chains. There's also Aldi and Denner.

It’s Luzern with a hard Z. Like in LED Zeppelin. Z.
Or Lucerne if you speak French
It's Loozärn
It’s actually a “ts” sound in German, “loot-sern”
I always thought that Lucerne was the English name for Lausanne, with Luzern being the German name.
Nope! They sound similar, but Lucerne and Luzern are the same, and Lausanne is a totally different city!
