Solid teamwork from the boss and Dave an amazing catch and load procedure that went off without much issue, sure there were some tough spots but the day was won when The Big Flipper landed that container safely atop the Landoll trailer. Another quality job done by Pepe's! Side note though, those container skates...you said for such a small investment how good they worked...sometimes the best tool isn't the flashiest but the most useful.

With those container skids (I am assuming they are made of plastic and/or wood) you could use a Forster bit to drill some pockets in them and glue in some strong disk magnets. That way you could attach them to the container without having to hold them in place as it is lowered down. They would also stay in place as you lift to reposition.

I didn't like those light duty straps on the Mustang either, not sure I'd want that going on a ship across the Atlantic and bouncing around if it was my car, they should re-secure that with stronger straps, the ones they've got on there look like motorcycle straps. Mr. Pepe, Just a thought but if you had some twist locks like waterfront cranes and the port packer machines use to lift loaded cargo containers from the top with a little fabrication installing an eyelet and some stop lock to the end of the twist lock, things would be much easier to lift, flip, slide any container (of which there are many types). Thank you for the suggestion, may I ask if you are new to my channel or if you've seen my other rollover videos? For containers, I always use B/A container links, they are highly regarded as one of the best tools for lifting and recovering containers, I swear by them. the only problem I see with dollies or wheels is controlling the container speed once it is in motion. Wheeled dollies would need some sort of a braking system to slow down a container or it might just take off going down a hill. Imagine having a weight of 12 or more tons in motion, that is very hard to stop on tiny wheels. The skates Pepe's used provide natural friction resistance that prevents the container from getting away, unless it's on a really steep hill and they spilled a load of grease or soap ;)

I dropped off a "sale box" the gentleman was mad it was only 90 inches wide on the inside. He was wanting to store a big 1950s Chrysler. 40 ft box lifted by his 5 ton crane with a 20 ft 2 30 ft and a 40 ft strap and a piece of log chain. That was a fun day.
Dropped it off with a landoll should have picked it up the same way. Lots of work that did not need to be done! But you have to pay for that rig some how.
I don't really get it... how did they get the thing in there to begin with? And why?The huge box for just 1 car, which takes perhaps 10 minutes to put it in there - whats the point?
Who knows? Not my house. The container was there for a long time, don't think they bought it for the purpose of transporting the car. Just ended up working that way.
There is a house directly across the street, it would be possible but not without climbing over the curb and grass. Then what? Attach a 3/8" chain to it and winch up a 25,000lb loaded container, destroying her side walk? Plus did you see the wire directly over the container? Doing it your way would absolutely hit that once you level the bed. I told the lady I could do it with zero damage to her driveway and I did.
say instead of sliding why didn't you get 8 pieces of pipe 4 down each side of the container and as you pulled forward you move the pipe from the back to the front, to let the container roll as you pull you move the pipe from the back to the front?just a thought??

have you thought about using some ISO container lifting lugs at all rather than those links ? i noticed you mentioned about the 3 point contact with those 5/8ths.. and trying to get the skids under? Awesome lift and load in awkward situation there. nice job guys :)
I have not for a few reasons. One, we usually use both top pockets with container links when working with containers, especially rolled over. They are so secure and trusted, I wouldn't use anything else. For odd jobs like these where I'm doing a bit of pulling, the chain and foundry hooks work fine. If I were to come across a set of those lifting lugs I'll give em a shot, but I won't go out of my way to get them.
Why the heck did they get a 40' container, a 20' would of been plenty big enough for a car. Second, those wimpy straps holding the car are way too small.
I don't think they got this container for the purpose of this car. The lady said her husband got the container long ago and they finally were going to get rid of it overseas. They had lots of cars, probably killing two birds with one stone. As for the straps, it was two separate 4point tie downs, obviously was fine since the car made it safe to its destination.
Just lucky had a car come in to Florida it was a show car same strapping came off ping pong the car in side the container wasn’t an inch that wasn’t damaged customer came un glued can’t blame him lucky for us customs opened it and we saw the damage befor shipping

First time I’ve seen the video, great work! And a question for Dave, if he doesn’t mind.... About the hat. Is it just something he found or is it significant in the way mine is?
I did use the 360 camera on this. I just edited in post production to use one lens instead of both. I also edited the fish eye distortion to make it look "natural". You can tell I'm using it in some scenes when you can it warps.
I was wondering the same thing....took some major effort to get it up there. And who would want that ugly thing in front of their obviously beautiful house!
@@PepesTowingService O.K....that makes more sense...Thanks, I like following your videos to see how you hook things up...(I Pick Things Up and I Put Them Down)...✌😂
@@keithnichols7926 the container was there for years lol, she finally wanted to get rid of it. The owner is in the video a lot, I point her out a few times
It wasn't a straight shot, and there are cars on the other side of the street. You COULD back it in with a skilled driver but not without running over the grass and destroying it. Plus, winching up a 25,000lb container would destroy the concrete, this has been addressed.
Why would the special truck that dropped it there not come get it ? Once in the street, if you had Hulk you could have picked up both ens and just set in on flatbed ! WOW.ya did good !

Tough job, but seems like you could have put the car on a rollback and towed it to a place near the port and then loaded it into a container where equipment designed to move containers could have gotten it to where it could be loaded onto the ship.
That would have made absolutely no difference on this job. What do you do with the container in the driveway? I still had to remove that, whether it had a car or not inside, it still had to go. All that would have done is create a higher bill for the customer, because now she has to hire a flatbed to tow it to the port, back up to the container, drive it in, then secure it. And this container DID go to the port. That's literally the purpose of this.

First time I’ve seen the video, great work! And a question for Dave, if he doesn’t mind....
About the hat. Is it just something he found or is it significant in the way mine is?
home owners were idiots for bringing that container into the driveway in the first place.
Seems like a pretty expensive mistake :)
@@Jehty_ I agree however she got the money to ship a Mustang overseas the mistakes probably pennies to them
Neighborhood like that you can't put sea can on the street
Glad you didn't use the 360 camera. This was almost a fun job
I did use the 360 camera on this. I just edited in post production to use one lens instead of both. I also edited the fish eye distortion to make it look "natural". You can tell I'm using it in some scenes when you can it warps.
@@PepesTowingService I have to say that it was well worth the effort.
The video was really pleasant to watch :)
@@Jehty_ Thank you!
What you call a landfall we in aus it a semi tilt tray 😊
Landoll is literally the name of the company. Landoll corporation makes these, hence the name Landoll.
That huge container for a car? Why?
I was wondering the same thing....took some major effort to get it up there. And who would want that ugly thing in front of their obviously beautiful house!
They got it empty, would not be difficult at all if it was empty. A semi skilled Landoll driver could do a job like that solo.
Should have backed landoll in drive and winch it on.
To copy and paste what another person wrote: "he only problem I see with dollies or wheels is controlling the container speed once it is in motion.
"
$8 harbor freight ratchet straps. Mint. why didnt the pick it up the same way they dropped it off would have been a whole lot easier
All that you you don’t show the Mustang?
Not my car to show
The biggest reason I turn on was to see the mustang. But nothing.
Pete needs to keep a cooler in the cab with cold water.
No need for a cooler, I have a fridge in it
@@PepesTowingService Very,,,,,COOL!
I’m sure the make a set of wheels to slide on the corners of the container
What do you record with? It looks awesome👍🏼
I used my GoPro MAX for this job
Tough job, but seems like you could have put the car on a rollback and towed it to a place near the port and then loaded it into a container where equipment designed to move containers could have gotten it to where it could be loaded onto the ship.
That would have made absolutely no difference on this job. What do you do with the container in the driveway? I still had to remove that, whether it had a car or not inside, it still had to go. All that would have done is create a higher bill for the customer, because now she has to hire a flatbed to tow it to the port, back up to the container, drive it in, then secure it. And this container DID go to the port. That's literally the purpose of this.
