Delivering a million dollar home in LA

  • Delivering a million dollar home in LA! Well now this is something different from my usual work! Rotators get compared to cranes a lot and in this video you see the true difference between the two. Hulk, my 50ton rotator, is a versatile truck with crane like capabilities. I'm able to arrive on scene and be fully setup within minutes to start working immediately. When I complete my job, again just minutes and I'm fully put away ready to roll.
    The crane here is a large one and just shows how much more powerful they are for certain jobs. Where as Hulk can quickly rig and lift things, the crane takes tons more time to setup with a whole crew operating it, but it can do insane tasks such as lifting a literal home and swinging it into a backyard. Obviously for my line of work, I need the power and speed to get in and out of jobs, you wouldn't hire a crane for a basic container lift or rollover. But at the same time my boom is vastly limited in terms of how much I can lift and how far out.
    As you'll see here, this crane picked up the house, reaching over the semi, lifted it with precision and then skied it high and swung onto a platform with surgical precision. Even by my standards this was TOUGH due to it being in a small alley way, trees and a house to worry about hitting. They take time to setup but once setup, these things are like Godzilla! Huge props and shout out to Bragg crane for the phenomenal job here.
    As for the home, I misspoke in the beginning of the video before being corrected, but this area is called Silverlake. And let me tell you, LA home prices are bad as it is but it is very expensive here with houses averaging 1.3 million on the low end for this block. I can only imagine what this "little" prefab home would cost to buy since it comes with its own land and yard. Not my cup of tea with a family, but maybe a bachelor or couple with good jobs in the area.
    Either way, the job was very fun and I was happy to see these cranes in action up close and personal. What did you guys think of this one? Don't forget to head to www.pepestowla.com/shop after the video and grab your cool Pepe's swag and 2024 calendar to represent your favorite tow company!

    This tiny house construction would almost be comparable to a single or even half of a double-wide mobile home, but without the wheeled undercarriage. I'm surprised the company constructing these modular homes don't have a portable dolly-wheel system to deliver them. For years many mobile-homes have been permanently placed on top of a 2-3 foot raised concrete foundation. It's quite similar to living in a regular house. I have seen some lifted up like this and set back down. You'll find them in cities and on acreages. But this modular home construction is big now and placing them side-by-side and stacking them offers lots of living place. Nice job how you all delivered it in this tight space.

    I noticed I wasn't a subscriber. Now I'm pulling my weight.
    This one was ridiculous. Definitely a huge technical challenge for the truck driver. I like how she didn't give up when backing up that trailer. It's tight enough already and then to add three or so more feet to each side makes it just about impossible.
    That crane operator and his team are on point as well.
    Cool job!

      Every one hs a 6’ privacy fence on their property line,so that million dollar pkg. eill have a great view of vinyl fences or maybe a real wood fence, or maybe just the very top of neighbors roof! In my area these “ homes” are called trailers, or mobile homes, & are restricted to mobile home “parks” or courts!

    I think last time we had to bring out a big crane the mobilization fee was around $40k. But it had to come in on 10 or 15 different semi trucks so I guess that’s pretty fair.

    come on, that's a bad joke there.... ^^
    it's a solution out of the picturebook to the lesson "how to find the most unsuitable material for such a job"... ^^
    don't they explore the workplace at all beforehand? Or do they seriously think that this job can b done in a way that "it will work somehow!?".... wow, pure professionalism, congratz.

    Darn, I am third. Thanks for the video from south central New Mexico. As I watched I considered the phonominal soft touch of the crane operator and the communication that must take place. I am curious about the time it takes to upload the long videos and if you use Apple computers. I will certainly rewatch this video several times. I don't mean to slight your contribution to the whole job.

  • @marksnyder2232
    @marksnyder2232 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Very cool video. It would be neat if you could find and team up with one of the TH-cam Crane Operators (or just a normal crane operator) and each put the other through a training session on the opposing machine. This way you would both see the operational and control differences between the two types of machines, in ways that probably aren't apparent to each other.

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Cool idea. I feel a crane operator would have a much easier time operating a Rotator than me operating a crane.

    • @Dan_Neely
      @Dan_Neely 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PepesTowingService It'd probably depend on what exactly you were doing. A rotator's small as cranes go, but cranes normally just lift things. A complicated recovery, especially if only using one truck and having to do a lot of redirecting instead of just putting a rotator on each end, would probably be well outside their experience.

  • @gragor11

    They use these things here. Vancouver Island. Usually two, one facing the other. 900 sq ft max. We have an agricultural land reserve and the second house on the land has to be on pier blocks for a foundation and removable. So they use these. Way cheaper than a house nowadays.
    I can't imagine that with all the costs involved in moving the prefab on to the lot that it was any cheaper than building one in situ.
    Great job. Never seen the fishing off the tail end trick before. Same for the driver. Great job.

    I’ve been in tight spots like that b4 ! Sometimes u can hit the trailer brakes for a minute once u establish the apex of the turn backing in and it pushes the front of the trailer over without the rear going to far of track! She did an amazing job! Especially with that big of an audience watching her and knowing the crane and entire crew were waiting on her!
