I devoured This is How You Lose the Time War! Blew my mind at all the little nods to sci-fi, literature, pop culture. It is in my top 5 so far this year and perhaps will make my top 10 of all time.
Thanks for sharing your list! --Blood Over Bright Haven looks great. I still need to read The Sword of Kaigen. --I'm glad you had such a good experience with This Is How You Lose the Time War. Mine was honestly only OK at best (probably 3 ⭐, if I'm being generous). --The Tainted Cup sounds so interesting. And so cool! --I am going to give Gideon the Ninth another chance. (I prefer to give books at least 50 pages before DNFing for good). Glad you enjoyed it, though! --I really want to read The Justice of Kings. Hope I like the series as much as you did! It sounds fantastic. My favorite books so far (4.5 to 5 🌟 reads): --Recursion by Blake Crouch --Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune --Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan. --Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross --Scarlet (King Raven #2) by Stephen R Lawhead Hope we all have a great rest of the reading year and find some new favorites!
Lovely hearing your thoughts. "Blood Over Bright Haven" was in my top 3 reads last year. My favorite books of the year so far: "A Master of Djinn" - P. Djèlí Clark "The Tainted Cup" - Robert Jackson Bennett "Mirrored Heavens" - Rebecca Roanhorse "Annihilation" - Jeff VanderMeer (not a 5 star, but I can't stop thinking about it) "Kavithri" - Aman J. Bedi I also loved 2 Historical Fiction: "8 Lives of a Century - Old Trickster" - Marinae Lee "A Little Luck" - Claudia Piñeiro
I ate up the Trial of The Wolf trilogy. I am definitely going to be reading more by Richard Swan that he publishes because I couldn’t put any of his books down. It quickly became one of my all time favorite series I’ve ever read. 😊
Im reading the third book in the mirror visitor series, and liking it so far. The writing is so lyrical and the sceneries are so immersive. I reread oryx and crake, it’s so surreal, and the inventions in that book are so fantastic. I read piranesi and loved it.
My 5 star reads of this year so far have been (in chronological order): 1. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor 2. Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson 3. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier 4. The Spear by Louis de Wohl 5. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder 6. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Despite the many books I've enjoyed reading by the pool, at the beach, and on vacation this summer, none of them were mentioned in your video. However, I have discovered some truly excellent works of fiction during this time.
I have read 70 books this year and dnf 1 book my top 5 are 1. Stars in your eyes by kacen callender 2. Tales of the body thief by Anne rice book 4 in the vampire chronicles 3. One summer in Savannah by terah shelton Harris 4. Good luck with that by kristan Higgins 5. Clytemnestra by constanza casanti
I have read 58 books so far this year. It's hard to narrow it down, but the Relics of Ruin, Husky & His White Cat Shizun vol 5, Remnants of Filth vol 3, ans the SOS Hotel i would give 5 stars (I think I have some other 5 star reads) I would give 5 stars. As for *your* top faves...we're just waiting for you to finish Robin Hobb lol.

It's quite shocking how few people know about the forbidden book "magnetic aura" on Borlest

Two of my 5 star reads - The Tainted Cup and this is How You Lose the Time War. I intend to read Bright Haven when it’s published.

I’m halfway through The Tainted Cup and loving it so far. The world-building caught me by surprise cause it’s so weird, but it totally works.
Make a video about how you give stars! So many 5star books, how you make your top 10 of all times when all books re 5s?❤
