I just finished reading A Sorceress Comes to Call, and I really enjoyed it. Cordelia has my heart. I read The Tainted Cup (twice) earlier this year, and it'll probably be my favorite book of the year. I'm also starting Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune, and I am so excited. Fingers crossed that it's amazing!
I LOVED "The Spellshop." It was so cute and kept me wanting to see what happened next. I loved the talking plant! I buddy read that and it was an absolute delight!
I agree that final volumes can sometimes feel a bit rushed, but it always feels so good to finish a series. Some of my fave releases this year: Empire of Exiles (this is the sequel to Relics of Ruin, so I recommend!), A Thousand Autumns vol 5, Husky & His White Cat Shizun vol 5-6, Bringer of Dust, and, for a nonfiction book, Transfiguring Women in Late Twentieth Century Japan.
I also loved The sorceress comes to call. I still need to get to Lady Macbeth and I will check out Where the dark stands still. Amari and the despicable wonders was one of my favourite middle grade books of the year- I read it in 2 sittings and gave it an easy 5 stars. 📚💕
It is entirely your fault (in the best kind of way) that I love the Tainted Cup. One of my favorite reads of the year so far and I’m genuinely considering rereading it for Christmas.
I am waiting on my libby hold for both An Academy for Liars and Where the Dark Stands Still. Its supposed to only be two more weeks for the latter, but the former is 18 weeks wait. 😢 I absolutely adored The Spellshop. So far, it's been my favorite book this year. I only have 100 pages left of A Sorceress Comes to Call and I'm hoping to finish it tonight. I wasn't sure how I felt about Lady Macbeth at first but ended up loving it. I have yet to read anything by Robert Jackson Bennett and I need to change that soon.
1. A sorceress comes to call 2. The trials of empire 3. An academy for liars 4. The spellshop 5. Where the dark stands still 6. Tainted cup 7. Lady Macbeth 8. Amari
Another comment for Asunder by Kerstin Hall ☝🏻 such a unique, rich dark fantasy world that kind of reads like an extremely well-done anime??? If that makes sense? It took me a minute to get into but listening to it with music playing on my airpods had me IMMERSED. It has not been getting much attention and I think that’s a crime!
Thank you for this video, I have just ordered The Tainted Cup for a friend's Xmas Present, so pleased, but..the cover in England is very different to yours, not sure which one I prefer?
Loved Trials of empire and the whole trilogy. The Sorcerer comes to call was good too. However Spellshop did not live up to the hype. When the only description of the love interest was that he was big and muscular! Had to dnf at around 70% The Asunder was such a good read which no one is talking about!
I just started to read Where the dark stands still and I love it. I mean, it is interesting from the start. 😊 Also, is this 3rd Amari book the last one in the series? Or are more books coming out?
I'm about half way through The Trials of Empire. I agree the series and this book (so far) is good. Unfortunately, (I wonder if the editing process got short-changed in a rush to get it out on schedule or something?) I am finding so many grammatical errors and other minor writing elements that keep pulling me out of the story a bit. Thanks, elementary school teachers who pounded rules of grammar into me so hard I can't un-see them!!
Here are some new releases that I liked: A Tempest of Tea, Apprentice to the Villain (2nd book in the series), A Short Walk Thorough A Wide World, and Icon and inferno(2nd book in the series). I think you would like most if not all of these books. Let me know if you are interested in any of these. Also let me know if you need the authors name to find any of these.
I just thrifted a book haul of 231 books for 37 dollars for my book giveway at work. I have given away over 2600 books for babies kids teens and adults in 10 months. I just dropped 2 videos showing the haul . Let's get this generation reading
Where the dark stands still became an instant favourite. I desperately need a sequel but also that ending was so perfect!
i love how the books you suggest arent just romantasy, and booktok etc. yes, those books are great, but its nice to see something more refreshing :)
Loved this list!! Two of my top books of the year were included here: The Tainted Cup and Where the Dark Stands Still. I highly recommend them!
"Howl's Moving Castle meets Uprooted" has moved Where the Dark Stands Still to the very top of my TBR!

Asunder by Kerstin Hall needs more hype!! I absolutely loved it.
YES. Nobody is talking about this book and I’m obsessed with it.

As soon as you used the F-word (Folklore, not the other one!) about Where the Dark Stands Still, it just had to go on my TBR!

Will definitely look into these books!
every time you mention the tainted cup i’m desperate for you to make the pacific rim connection (but aot and godzilla also work)
Fair!!! I’ve never seen pacific rim so that might be why!
Lady Macbeth sounds completely up my alley. Hell yes, lol.
Dang pal, how in the world do you manage your posting schedule 😳

Is it hard to understand Lady Macbeth if you haven’t read Macbeth?
Not at all. It's been over 30 years since I read it, so I didn't remember a lot of the story and I really enjoyed it.
I desperately want to read an academy for liars!!
Usually eat up your reca, but A Sorceress Comes to Call was SO boring I dnfed after 100 pages 😬
this video literally came in the perfect moment in my life, love you
good video yet again, thank you love ❤️
