For the Yoruba youths who were misled by their leaders, this is the main source of Igbo anger. The coup was planned to remove the northern oligarchy and their igbo and yoruba collaborators, to give power to Awolowo and Anthony Enahoro and others, who have been so mistreated by the NPC/NCNC government.

This thing is still working till today. We heard that the northern Alfa ori-awo took the pictures of Awolowo and AKintola and turned their pictures back to back against each other tied it, chanted quarrelling between this two great men. That was the reason for their Unended disagreement between them till both of the died. We must pray today to stop the evil work as their evil was did not stop on only Awolowo and Akintola alone but on all Yorubas till today. Some people said, it was the course emanated from Alafin Aole and Afonja still working. My only area of disagreement is the painting of the WEST, Akintola, Awolowo, et al as evil; whereas, the problem then was a political manipulation from some quarters. Non, he was the good boy to the federal government then bcos he help them to tame Awolowo by his betrayal to AG & Yoruba as whole for political gain that eventually claim his life and safe that of Awolowo. That is the irony of truth and lies, which truth will always prevail at the end. Akintola conspire with federal to use kangaroo 🦘 court to silent Awolowo which at the end safe him Awolowo from Jan 15/1966 coup that at the same time brought him to power at the national level by means of natural intervention.
If Awolowo has not been jailed before the 1965 western house election, Akintola's party and federal government would have also used the arson that follows the outcome of the rigged election by Akintola and his party against Awolowo being an ally of the central government, Akintola. They used their might as government in power to silent Action Group as a party and Awolowo as a person. But God prevail on them because of their wuruwuru way of the whole thing.
They all lost their lives in the event that follows, unknown to them that those they sentence to long time in prison were actually helping them to safeguard their lives, who came out to a better life after all their adversary has been consumed in their scheme. That is why the holy book says; All things work together for good for those who love God.

The political unrest in SW(Yoruba land) was one of the main reasons for the January coup and Chief Awolowo was to be made the president if the coup was successful. I am shocked hearing this and the yorubas would still join hands with others to fault n call it

Awolowo was never a saint yoruba historians painted him to be. Having read some of his books and watch some of his speeches, I tell you, his boy TINUBU took after him. What Tinubu is doing now was right out of Awolowos play book. Same with Mandela, they believed they had the right vision for their people and have no qualms using violence to get it done even if the people say no. Awolowo had been using thugs for ages and betraying his kinsmen if it propels him towards his goal. But as God will have it, he never became the prime minister he was eyeing. The same faith await Tinubu. Never to become the president.

If you watch the video carefully and slowly this time around you will notice It was Adedibu's party that rigged (according to this video) the election not Awolowo. If you don't like Tinubu that is your opinion but don't twist the story. That is why I like Yoruba they have their own mind but sometimes what some people want to eat won't let them see road

Tension from any region of the country is bound to happen in any Nation trying to get itself together but the approach to resolving the crisis is key. By history, Major Nzeogwu and others killed not only the yoruba leaders at that time but also the people in power in other to position the leadership affairs in the east.
This story is one-sided and it's not factual enough. You are only showing us video with no actual voice from the major participants of the crisis(Akintola - Awolowo rivalry). Mere reading a script to a piece of any video does not make a good proof of historical happenings. Get more facts pls
