btw not sure if you know this, but if you time your tackle with the enemies attack (similar to a counter) your next attack inherits the charge level you had before you tackled. for example= lvl 3 scs into well timed tackle into tcs will automatically be at level 3 without having to charge it. very cool addition imo.
Once again, love your approach to these. Quick and concise. Looking forward to more. I tend to like learning and experimenting myself and many tutorials can feel bloated with info.
Something that took people a bit of time to notice, which I hope you've seen or done yourself by now, is using focus mode to aim every one of your attacks. This universal mechanic is like, an insane buff for the slower and higher commital weapon types. I tried focus mode + tap target camera(to make it easier without clawing the ps5 pad) SnS, danced around the monster with the chop combo movement. Pretty insane. The fact that there's a huge mouse and keyboard setup menu on consoles is hilarious as that would help a lot with focus mode targeting.
@borone1998 yeah that's what I do too lmao, especially for the slower weapons with slow combos. Also, finding out that there is an option to have Focus Mode as a toggle is interesting.
Hey, I might have imagined stuff, but when I was playing the beta, I think I say my character glowing red when doing Focus Attack and that might be inheriting charge levels on that, I had released a charged attack and then followed into the Focus Attack for it to happen
I think I'm gonna play this on release, imo its great that it has both offset and parry attacks and it feels somewhat ez to play. I'm a bit sad SnS didn't get a perfect dodge mechanic on the backhop, or some kind of offset.
A dawn of a new playstyle of GS, the Defensive Counter GS Style, where you fish enemy attacks, parry, offset, get em down, free TCS, repeat. Sure it still means I have to learn the patterns, but it's more satisfying than perfect dodging and it's a lower skill floor than having the perfect positioning and timing. This is going to be fun. :)
it does have a good use because you can tackle after the wide slash and goes into strong charge slash. it moves you forward close to the monster and i often use it. i can slowly build up KO for myself or my fellow Hunters. WideSlash>Tackle>JumpingWideSlash>Side Blow or WS>Tackle>StrongChargeSlash. I mean you can roll and tackle but if you're already close you can WS & Tackle in place.
Hello @Naota909 do you think from what you've seen so far on this beta, that the greatsword is the 1st in terms of DPS from all the melee weapons ? Thank you in advance.
"DPS" doesn't come from the weapon, it comes from your uptime on the monster depending on what weapon you're using, and every monsters patterns and styles are going to change which matchups grant higher or lower uptime.
@@Frederic_104 For me DPS of the weapon (not DPS of the player) is the pure or sheer damages of the main combos of the weapon's class that you want to test on a dummie, like in world in training mode for example. When you have that data on a specific class, you can compare it on the other classes with their respective equivalent level weapons, and then see whitch class is more DPS friendly in neutral conditions.
correction for the video, guarding with greatsword no longer lowers your sharpness its actually a YUGE buff now, guarding actually reduces the bosses resistance to clashes leading into eventually clashing enabling a high damage counter. enough that its worth it now to NOT sheathe your greatsword and actually get good at timing parries not to be confused with offsets like the mr youtuber did thats a different mechanic.

Yup this is true.
I'm sure most will automatically discover it when they get hands on the weapon.
Additionally, it is mentioned in the hunter notes
👍

u can also aim using Left stick during focus mode since ur right hand is occupied by holding the charge button

TCS Shortcuts:
-FS: Perforate on Wound -> TCS
-Perfect Guard -> Clash Event -> TCS
Moves that can inherit charge levels:
-Leaping Wide Slash (previously known as Jumping Wide Slash in older games)
-Strong Wide Slash
-Tackle
Moves that can't:
-Wide Slash
you can also skip to tcs if you perform a succsssful offset rising slash but dont trigger the offset animation

I like what they did with the greatsword. Now with the Rising Slash parry and Perfect guard there's even more emphasis on learning monster patterns
Not me spamming the offset rising slash, missing and getting hit instead of playing normally
I think I'm gonna play this on release, imo its great that it has both offset and parry attacks and it feels somewhat ez to play.

Great video! So hyped to try out the new rising slash parry

The strong wide slash also speeds up depending on your charge level
Show us the hammers mighty charge and how it deals more then TCS 🎉
Any plans on setting up a Discord?
Think they'll ever make wide slash useful?
I mean it does have its use, it's really quick attack out of neutral that can shred small monsters + hit multiple small monsters

dual blades next? pretty please ^^
So Greatswords can parry now?

Kinda feels like gs is becoming ls lol
erm, no (I won’t elaborate)

U sure? Literally sat in front of boss spamming guard and sharpness went down
@@naota909 perfect guards as in parries, you cant just spam I should have been specific
👍@@aidanfenton4377
Now imagine offensive guard is still in the game. Actually viable to build greatsword for blocking?
@@ongabonga4378 that was literally my 1st instinct once I saw GS guard with perfect Guard
shame they removed slinger skip
true but you can now go straight into TCS after a focus attack which is nice
Gonna miss slinger pod burst so much.
