@@Ten_Thousand_LocustsThe angle of the Hunter and the monster. Almost like at the end of each Monster hunter game’s opening scene where the Hunter and the New Monster clash. Usually the Hunter swings at the Monster with a great sword and the Monster slashes at the Hunter at the same time and the scene cuts out and we see the title of the game.

I kind of wish Rey Dau had a misfire feature if you break its horn. Like a 10% or maybe 20% chance for it to misfire its railgun and hurt itself.
I think that should be a damage threshold in the 1 second as it's charging its horn.
Not reliable or abusable, but really damn cool if it happens.

That's crazy. The thorngrass at 00:50 stopped whatever Rey Dau was doing and still deals continuous damage if the monster is standing in the thorn bush.

I never wanted to play the greatsword, I always thought that it was too slow and too dependent on positioning in strange places. But this gameplay makes the weapon look far more dynamic than when I play it. So much so that it even looks fast... I want to try it now

I just tried out Greatsword for the first time in this beta.
I gotta say, I'm sold😂. It's so satisfying.
It's going to be hard to choose between Greatsword, gunlance, and my old, reliable Hammer.
At least I can have 2 on me to swap at will

I wish I could like the greatsword I just never have been fan of the charged attack play styles in any game.. like I wanna swing the weapon!! I do love the sword mode on switch axe that is how I wish the great sword would swing plus having charged attacks! So then you could actually swing slice dodge big sword combos and still pop off with like an attack claw trueslash combo ontop of it!!

Never played greatsword just like watching people play it well. Looks like GS is eating good in wilds. More variety at least from an outsiders perspective. Awesome run.

2:11 taking dmg from a successful offset attack shouldn't be a thing
I think chip damage is fair like you get with the tackle. Pretty sure in the full release the damage will be much less due to gear scaled to Ray Dau. My only complaint about offsets is that they should only work if it collides with the attack hitbox and not just anywhere as long as the monster is attacking.

How do speed runners know exactly when to drop the trap? Are you actually counting all the damage numbers or is there some other indicator of the monster’s remaining HP?
There is an indicator for when is the monster close to die, the heartbeat on bottom corner tells you that, there is even a yt vid that guide you on how to read them accordingly to monster's HP
@@rizaalfarisi4349 speedrunners seem to know when to capture before that indicator shows up
my fastst was 12 minutes with switch axe.

1:56 how do you go from draw slash straight into focus strike?
You just press focus attack. Plus if you have charged the previous attack, your focus attack maintains the charge and deals more damage.

How does the offset attack work? Sometimes it counters, sometimes it does not. I am confused.

the offset attack works more like a status
Not really a parry but kinda.
These are called "offset attacks" and a few weapon got them like Hammer, GS or Swltch Axe (probably more tho I don't remember).
Basically each of these weapons has a specific attack that when it connects with a monster attack at the same time the monster has a CHANCE to be staggered. According to the website and my own experience after a while the monster won't stagger anymore atleast for some time.
Besides that a successful offset attack negates all stagger and most if not all damage.
Some skills also boost damage after a succesful offset attack.
Anyways it's a great mechanic.
@@damianwozniak3946 The way it seems to work is like a mount - it builds up an invisible bar that causes a stagger when full.

As a GS main, I’m disappointed how they changed it’s identity. They turned GS from high risk high reward, to low risk low reward. I don't like how they dumbed it down. GS was always about monster knowledge, positioning and commitment. Now that's out of the window, since one can 360 degree readjust anytime, making big hits less rewarding. I also dislike the offset move. It leads to mindlessly spamming it for the topple animation due big dmg. The lack of hitstop & blood makes hits less satisfying. Surprised, how I don’t see more GS mains criticizing the changes.
It's been 1 month since your comment, I assume you figured out that barely anyone is criticizing these changes because most of us have more than 1 single weapon in our skillset. Following the trend that every single weapon is becoming more and more flexible, or in laymen's term "dumbed down", it's only natural that GS also undergo similar changes.
Moreover, the recipe that all successful video games in recent years have been following is improving the element of inclusivity, meaning less gatekeeping and lower skill floors. So be looking forward to all your favorite games becoming easier and easier to pick up by not just yourself, but others too. Long gone are the days where only a small percentage of players are able to specialize in certain games or niche playstyles. Everyone has equal access to the gameplay's entirety with minimal effort.
