Beginners start lying down, sitting upright or standing tall.
Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercises Technique
Place one hand on your chest and the other hand on your belly.
Correct diaphragmatic breathing exercises breathe in via the nose and out via the mouth. Feel the belly rise and expand forward as you inhale. Feel the belly relax and sink down as you exhale. The hand on your chest should not move during correct deep breathing exercise technique.
Diaphragmatic breathing exercises can have physical and emotional benefits.
1. Relaxation and Stress Reduction: Diaphragmatic breathing activates the body's relaxation response, helping to calm the mind, reduce anxiety, and alleviate stress. It triggers the parasympathetic nervous system, which counters the effects of the sympathetic nervous system (responsible for the fight-or-flight response), promoting a sense of calmness.
2. Improved Respiratory Function: Diaphragmatic breathing strengthens the diaphragm muscle, which is the primary muscle involved in respiration. By engaging the diaphragm more effectively, it allows for deeper and more efficient breathing. This can help improve lung capacity, increase oxygen intake, and enhance overall respiratory function.
3. Enhanced Oxygenation: Deep belly breathing allows for a greater exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the lungs. By taking slow, deep breaths, more oxygen enters the bloodstream and reaches the body's tissues and organs. This can result in increased energy levels, improved cognitive function, and a general sense of well-being.
4. Reduced Muscle Tension: Diaphragmatic breathing promotes relaxation of the muscles throughout the body. It can help release tension in the neck, shoulders, and chest, which are common areas where people hold stress and anxiety. By consciously focusing on the breath and releasing muscle tension, it can contribute to physical relaxation and relieve muscular pain or discomfort.
5. Improved Digestion: Deep belly breathing stimulates the vagus nerve, which plays a crucial role in the digestive system. By activating the parasympathetic response, it can enhance digestion, reduce bloating, and alleviate symptoms associated with gastrointestinal issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or acid reflux.
6. Emotional Regulation: Diaphragmatic breathing exercises can assist in emotional regulation and provide a tool for managing difficult emotions. By consciously directing the breath, individuals can increase their awareness of their emotional state and create a space for emotional processing and self-reflection. It can help in reducing feelings of anger, frustration, or sadness and promoting a more balanced emotional state.
Incorporating diaphragmatic breathing exercises into your daily routine can have a positive impact on your physical and mental well-being, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and improving your overall health.

Thank you! The best & easiest tip I’ve found on it so far. The tip of seeing our hand moves from the breath makes this easier to follow.

❤❤❤
Please, can you explain how or why is this relaxing the mind? I started training this! 😇
One of the reasons is prob that when we are tense (running from tigers etc) it send the body a msg of run/go! When we slow down our breaths and breathe in belly, it send msg of “we are in A safe enough situation to relax (rest/digest), I think.
its so hard to do, why is that? almost impossible to expand the upper ab when in hale
Same here.
Watch again, I don't think it should move. The hand is there to make sure it doesn't move.
There's something about you idk ❤
@StarTus111 thank u for taking the time to comment 🙏❤️
Found out ive been breathing wrong my entire life. This is SO hard for me to do lol inhaling thru nose And make belly go OUT? MY BELLY wants to go IN 😢😮
@BunchesEve I hear you and you're not alone. You can start laying semireclined if it's easier. It can take a little time and regular practice to learn to relax the deep abdo muscles and breathe into the belly. You will get the hang of this! Let me know any questions Eve 🌻
But what's the benefit of this exercise pl?
Many benefits - increases oxygen in lungs, can increase oxygen in blood, relaxation & stress relief, relax muscle tension, slows heart rate and can reduce blood pressure. Go to it!
My stomach going in while breathing in and coming out when exhale
How is that even possible
That's not what you want. I have had that too. I think it happens to me when my belly area has muscles that are either cramped or blocked. I have IBS and probably Sibo.
Just keep trying and play around with different breathing excersizes. somewhere it will click and then you do it proper again.

Thank you. I burped a couple of times, and I suffer from Gerd. ❤❤❤❤
My lady
Lol I’m doing it right but my stomach keeps rumbling so all I hear is rmrbrmbrmrbmrbm 😭
When I do this, I get lightheaded after 3-4 breathing cycles… do you have any tips about that? I’ve read online to make sure to exhale longer than I inhale but even that doesn’t always work…
That's because you're activating the parasympathetic nervous system which relaxes you. Just take it easy. Maybe build your practice bit by bit?

hello! when i do this in a sitting or standing position it hurts inside my body in the belly area. why?
Is it normal that by doing this exercice i cried 😢
What can you do for compression fracture in the thoracic spine
Is that a good technique against panic attacks?
Yes
I guess Ive been doing it my whole life without knowing
This is off topic, but you have beautiful eyes 😍
I thought you have to breathe in and out thru your nose only
Not using your mouth
Is it help to strong diaphragm
هذا الكلام خاطئ

Inhale belly big exhale belly small, right? But I saw different inhale belly small exhale belly big ? What is kind of exercise?
Yes inhale big belly, exhale small belly exactly! Thus is the best way to improve breathing for health and relaxation
It's the opposite for me 😢
my chest moves, belly does not. when i make my belly move by "breathing low" it kinda hurts. what does this mean?
me too have same issue
Breath three nose, till belly expands, mouth close
Is this normally how we should breathe or should be done only as exercise at times?
Normally this is the correct form of breathing which is deep breathing.
@@swatinegi1553 👍
But I feel lightheaded when I breathe from my stomach
Yes it happens initially because we are always shallow breathing. So go slow and don’t force much. It won’t take much time though
Is box breathing better then this
not really
@@winxmons4140 really? ... Okay
box breathing is not to be used for prolonged periods. Diaphragmatic breathing is intend as a normal breathing process
If she slaps you, it’s all over…
I find it really difficult bc I suspect I have a hiatal hernia. 😢
