    it makes me miss my V4 it really does. Don't get me wrong, I love my Crossplane R1 and it has real character too, but the Aprilia V4 is just something special as you know 😍

      Yeah man, I mean in all honest you might have found one of the few engines that is "better (cough cough objective, I know) than the V4. LOVE that R1

    I ordered mine this week. Had to go with the RR with the Sachs shocks and Pirelli Rosso III's, due to using it mainly on the road. They had an even better deal on the factory edition, but I don't want orange wheels and tires that wear out in 1000 miles, for even more money. I also expect it to be giving some ladies rides, so they'll need a seat. ;)

    Dude! Fun video to watch. I did virtually the same route with my son last year-hit about 150 down the parkway from the Key to Langley and back. Jump across the river, tho. Cops are way cooler in DC and MD. And those guys at la motorcycle really are the best...

    Great review- how effective is the windshield?- does it provide about as much protection as the shield you put on your SuperDuke?

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The windscreen and more forward rider angle provide ample wind protection. It's a little bit worse than the Puig on my Super Duke.

    Hi DukeOfDC - thanks for posting this review. The 2017 model offers subtle feature changes (auto down-blipper, tft, larger brakes) to the 2016 version which is what i have. The review was balanced but you sound like you miss having a ThunderCat. Does this mean you will be getting the Tuono? Respect to you.

    @dukeofdc thanks for the review! Your videos are always good quality and informative. question though (And you said we'd ask!): can you compare the tuono to the new Ducati Supersport? I'm really torn between the two. For everyday riding , the supersport is clearly more practical. But with the riding I do, I would have a 300 for everyday inner city commuting and want either one for fun. I test ride the supersport supersport and it was amazing. Very fun and easy to ride. But damnit if I just love the tuono in every way. Any thoughts?

    Mine makes a bit of a rattling noise when I let go of the clutch in first gear, it only does this when the engine is warm, no rattling when it's cold. Did you notice anything like this? Also I've read that you should use the clutch from 1-2 gear and the neutral is hard to find sometimes when coming to a stop with the engine running. Anything you had on yours?

    • @8sbrown62
      @8sbrown62 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      zurikaten my 2012 doesn't like to find neutral when it's cold. Once warm it's fine. I give slight clutch in low gears if I'm only giving light throttle

    The Ape T is a sexy beast, no question but would you commute on it? Yes I know, sacrilegious thought, but if I buy a bike I want it to do all. So, if you had the dollhairs, would you buy this (or the factory) OR the 2017 SDR?? What say ye olde Duke meister?

  • @Californification
    @Californification 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome video. I was looking to get a leftover or used 2016 RR (budget constraint). How does the 16 compare to the 17. Any issues with the 16 RR? Should I only be considering a 2017? Thanks.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, I would say the only "issue" with the 16RR is that it isn't a '17 lol. If the TFT display isn't that big of a deal to you, and you can find a 16 for much less than that's the move!

  • @DanBre
    @DanBre 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I currently have a 1290 SDR from 2017.
    What do you think about switching between those two?

  • @ShamanWS6
    @ShamanWS6 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a flap in the 2017 exhaust. Unlike the 2016, the flap is in the exhaust muffler / cat and when you remove that for replacement, you remove the flapper too. How this is dealt with by the customer in terms of the ECU throwing a code, I don't know. On previous models, you needed the race ECU or you needed to leave the electric actuator on the bike.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting - Thanks for commenting though as I'm sure future owners will have questions about this!

    • @bram461
      @bram461 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve C You need the race ecu, which is not yet available for the 2017 bikes...Impatiently waiting.

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look at the upside - once you sort that out, you have essentially racing headers with no restrictions.

    I hear from more people in USA that It's hard to get a testride on Japanese bikes. I find that very strange because who buys a motorcycle without testriding it? Seems to me it would hurt the sales.
    And that Aprilia is sexual. Italian bikes and cars always have that extra something.

    Worthless review. How about ridding some real roads with turns? I bet your tires square off if the first 800 miles. Who buys a Tuono 1100 to ride in a straight line?

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +theadasoldier so rude :/ but haters gonna hate. The bike has 2 miles on it when I took it out. Plus I don't ride hard whatsoever on bikes that aren't mine.

    • @theadasoldier
      @theadasoldier 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I am rude, blunt, and to the point. I am not asking you to pin the throttle and hit the rev limiter. People buy this bike to lean it over into some twisty roads. Ridding this bike in a straight line for an entire video is not a ride review, it is just another Vlog. I bet if you look at the analytics of this video, you lost most of your audience after the 2:15 minute mark where you were scooting along in a straight line.

      +theadasoldier Well regardless, I appreciate your viewership and the constructive criticism! Was able to retain people 3 times longer than your prediction, which isn't half bad! I'll look for some more twisty roads for next time, and if you have any suggestions within the DMV area close to Arlington please let me know!!

      Typical problem of reviews done by Americans (save some in SoCal). No mountains, no balls to ride fast, and often no skills either. Look at reviews done in Europe, Australia or South Africa for proper sports bike testing.
