- Watched the 2017 Aprilia RSV4 rail around COTA and wanted to see what the Tuono could do? By popular demand, here's Zack's test of the Tuono 1100 Factory at Circuit of the Americas.
At Motorcyclist, we love testing bikes. And nothing makes our mouth water like getting to try a new bike. Typically, we have a machine in house for a while before we say how it handles or how they stack up to the competition. But, some of our first rides are just too much fun not to share. So, welcome to this First Ride video, where you get to ride along with our staff on their very first time on the machine. From racetracks on other continents to the dirt roads right near our office, these are our first impressions of the latest bikes.

The big news for the mighty Aprilia Tuono in 2017 is more refinement. Everyone seems to agree, for now, that 1,077cc of V-4 power is enough to get the job done, so the Tuono gets a full-color TFT dash, a Euro-4 compliant muffler, and cruise control. The rest of the bike is largely the same, and that's a good thing-massive power, strong brakes, a race-bred chassis, and decent daily comfort are all still intact. If you've read anything that I've written (or anyone else) about the new RSV4 superbike, then you'll have a good head start on what's new with this motorcycle.
The fourth generation of Aprilia’s APRC suite sees three engine maps (Sport, Track, and Race) which adjust power delivery but also engine-braking characteristics, three modes each of wheelie control and launch control, as well as eight levels of traction control. All of which have more advanced parameters thanks to repositioning the sensors in the bike, according to Aprilia.
Add to that a quickshifter (now bidirectional, with auto-blip downshifts) and cruise control. There’s even a pit-lane speed limiter so you can feel more like a factory rider at your track day. When you’re trail braking the ABS parameters measure everything from lever pressure to lean angle to make sure you stay upright, and in two of the three modes will keep the rear wheel on the ground, too. That’s all trickle-down tech from the RSV4 (and Aprilia’s racing program) and is seriously complex stuff.
A TFT dash displays all of the info and options, and combines with the ECU to provide Bluetooth connectivity for your smartphone. That means ECU and IMU data conveyed to your laptop or mobile device so you can review your laps, and even tune the bike corner by corner. The new Tuono also has a new muffler that meets the stricter requirements of Euro-4 regulations but the engine puts out the same power as last year, according to Aprilia. The dyno here at Motorcyclist headquarters had our 2016 Tuono 1100 at about 155 horsepower at the rear wheel, so I think it's safe to expect about the same in 2017.
I rode both the RR and the Factory versions around COTA, the difference being in the Factory’s up-spec Ohlins suspension, flashy paint, and lack of passenger seat. The RR uses Sachs suspenders and makes due with a matte black or silver paint scheme. Practically, the biggest difference when flying around a racetrack is that the Factory comes standard with Pirelli Supercorsa SP tires (same as the RSV4) while the RR comes with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III rubber. The RR feels nearly as capable as the Factory, even at an expert-level trackday pace, but the Rosso IIIs are simply no match for the Supercorsas when it comes to grip and predictability.
A couple of the other problems were ones that I experienced on the RSV4 as well. One, the joystick that controls all of the dash functions isn’t quite as direct as I wanted it to be. Triumph’s new Street Triple as a very similar system and the feel of the controls is better. Version two of Aprilia’s system will likely be improved. The other issue was the occasional bobble from the traction control system. I rode with wheelie control off most of the time on the Tuono, and TC in a minimal setting.
The system is much more precise for 2017-seemingly making smaller adjustments more frequently to keep the bike in line-but now and then would stumble over an algorithm and not feed power when I wanted it. I struggled with it more on the RSV4 for some reason (maybe to do with the fact that there’s more power?), and the Tuono was happier to sail around the track with the electronics closer to off.

I think this guy is the first American bike tester that I really enjoy watching.
Try the Revzilla reviews too
Lemmy!
Ari is great too.
ARI? Not heard of that. I just searched for it and didnt show a bike channel ?
\
Not Important Ari Henning, he's the other guy on this channel. Watch their video on GSXRs, and their older off road videos.
I love this guy, riping through the track and talking like if he was sitting at the table!! :)
Tuono means Thunder, just to let you guys know.
thx mate
The David thats acually pretty cool.
SunzOffski Lol )))))
SunzOffski it is. Sounds good for a Japanese bike.
Can't tell if joking or really think its Japanese : /
I just purchased one today!! Words really don't do justice to how freaking excited I am.
How is it? Looking to get one myself. Going from a Yamaha MT-07, kinda worried it might be too much or overwhelming hahahah
@@stefanpetrov8 I've been riding for over 30 years. This is by far the best bike I've ever owned or ridden. There are rider modes so you can put it in low power and get used to it. It's actually a very comfortable bike to ride around at normal speeds. Good luck to you and I know you'll love it.
@@timothy9596 The sound it makes is something else, want to get it for that alone. Everything else is a bonus hahah. Wanted to get an MT09 but thought what the hell, the Tuono is a dream bike.
Safe riding my friend.
hellz yeah. the tuono is definitely one of my favorite bikes of all time! love this episode!
Just picked up the 2018 factory and this bike is insane. More compliant and more insane than any other bike at the same time somehow. For anything other than touring or serious track riding there is nothing better. I was a doubter of the great reviews, very experienced, and critical; one ride and I plunked down big money on a brand new bike. Quick shifter feels like a Ferrari (from experience), it is comfortable, and without electronic aids would be unridable for most...
David Duckworth gotta say I'm jealous, left 12 sportbikes behind from an injury thinking I'd never be thrilled again, didn't know anything about Supernakeds and was one of those soortbike fanboys that would knock them only becaue I rode a z1000 once and was so disappointed in every way comming from an r1 tech crazy powerful liter bike. I couldn't ride anymore and gave up but life sucked without speed, bought a 606 hp Lingenfelter z06 corvette and it was fun but not the same and a LoT more expensive on every level, sold it after years and then tried a superduke 1290r and for the first time realized the thrill of riding and speed and power and performance was or there and in soenthing I could ride and not hurt on! The torque of the beast felt more mowerful than anything I've rode but was really expensive (for a bike) and missing some tech and must haves that were becoming standard on sports, quickshifters autoblipers , tft displays , and honestly o haven't rode dirt bikes much so wasn't a fan of the supermoto feel of the superduke, rode all the other base nakeds only to be hugely disappointed again, the monster R and S had most everything but was definitely not trackable competition wise. The greatest sound on earth I've heard was an RSV4 with full SC project , a close tie - was Rossi and Lorenzo's actual motoGP crossplane 4 's but considerable more expensive lol. In the previous gen tuono 13-15 I hated the headlight and the tail/seat, but then started seeing the RSV4 tail conversions and loved it , then came the '16 tuono and while still not a huge fan of the nose and headlight , nothing wrong with it Jsut looked a little outdated. Then I saw my first Factory with the RSV4 tail and Factory Livery and man that was it! In that setup the nose looks right , Jsut looks like an RSV4,well becaue it is.lol got my hands on a '17 tuono Factory to try from an exotic car dealer nearby (we sadly have no aprilia dealers in utah) . I can confirm what you say, nothing like it, haters that have never tried them always look at the hp number and say they are underpowered , what they don't know is they make MORE power in the actually usable rev range for everyday use ANd at the track! They make MOrE power than sport bikes in almost all the revs! Sadly once I rode the tuono Factory, there wasn't anything else to compare to it, literal top parts out there , nothing better! Everything felt slow and harsh and non responsive. I felt more confident on that bike than any bike I've owned becaue of all the top exotic components and rider aids combined with the upright position it allows you to feel the physics of everything easier , flickability is effortless sitting up more. And that sound!!!! Ahhhh and that's with that huge stock canand cat! The price hurt but what I've come to realize is while it's painful, it's a StEAL for what u get, world class superbike componomets and electronics for the cost of a Supernaked . I know this becaue I rode an RR and was disappointed to realize Jsut how amazing the Factory everything was, especially the Sachs suspension on the rr , ugh, but $4,500 less I looked into buying an RR and upgrading , doing the Factory tail swap, suspension and some other parts and it would have been much more than Jsut buying a factory, from the factory! Nothing close. Decided to buy a Factory but was a bit hesitant hearing of some reliability issues of aprilia and not having a dealer near could be costly (note that I've never owned one or known someone who has besides the TH-camr THe Muscle Biker who bought my FZ10 , he has an RSV4 that's in the shop that's going to be thousands and thousands of dollars to repair). The Yamaha FZ10 came out right then , the greatly anticipated naked r1 and all the press releases and data, specs , Factory lap times etc were seriously impressive, not the top end components of the factory but Factory test trAck times within .4 seconds of the factory says a lot as the factory is THE greatest track weapon Supernaked ever! Has less power than the Factory (160hp)but has the quickest 0-60mph of any production bike on earth (they claimed 2.3 seconds but the official non biased tests showed 2.5 ). The superduke R is 3.1 and the tuono factory is 3.0 . For street use with some track days and touring it would be plenty , I'd do more 0-60s in my daily commuting then top speed runs so seemed fine. I got it at a steal! New at launch for $9,199 out the door , no dealer fees , no miles , full warranty, way under msrp , long story, for $9,000 less than my first choice I was completely satisfied, blast of a bike , a wheelie hooligan, the crossplane 4 decated has a sound not far off aprilias v4 , zero problems in 2 years of ownership and loved it more and more the more I rode it. Sold it for a divorce which was a mistake, but I'll get one again someday. I can say tho I've had more fun on my FZ10 than ANY other bike I've owned or rode, and did it comfortably, in 18 they offer a quickshifter etc and while the tuono factory was the greatest I've rode , ...knowing that the MT10 SP is comming to the US , I think that would be my choice at that point. The performance and reliability of the FZ10 for half the cost of the factory was worth it but an MT10 with quickshifter, autoblipper, motoGp full Ohlins electronic suspension adjustable on the fly, full r1m electronics and abs with gyro , brembos, color tft , I think and then reliability of Yamaha and the crossplane4 , I know my choice . But then again aprilia is due for a redesign, a new bike, and itsgotta be comming, I can only imagine the next gen tuono factory and you know aprilia will have their wsbk tech in the new as well, they are always a step ahead. I'm jealous you have a Factory in your garage, truthefully if i didn't have to make the payment and could have anything available in the us right now it'd be a Factory for sure! 👍. To all the sport bike fan boys like I used to be that hate on nakeds, try a Supernaked first , actually ride one and then change your comment. 🙂.
There's a guy at our track that rides a tuono factory 1100 , stock, and he dominates everyone, all the built track sport bikes , everything, brakes later, gets it the hole and turns quicker , good too speed on the stretch , he's untouchable! First time I watched him it was unreal, walked up to talk to him and he took his helmet off, dude was in his 70's easy, white hair and British lol. In the right hands nothing's faster.👍
I can't imagine how tingly that makes you feel.. jsut got my 2018, and.. woof... it's a beast! It's a different monster from my EBR!
You guys are awesome thanks for doing these videos. Thanks Zack.
Just picked-up my 2020 Tuono factory form ProItalia on last Weds, 9/30/20!! Cant wait to run her in and then mod her, amazing bike out of the box!! Nice addendum to my stable and similar, but very different from my 2010 Streetfighter S (1098).
Tuono, FZ-10, Speed Triple, SuperDuke, Monster shootout please. Maybe throw in the Kawasaki and Suzuki naked liter bikes too.
Edit: And of course s1000r.
also s1000r
the FZ-10 is a naked liter bike. But I agree that it would be a great vid.
Carlos Almeida agreed, great matchup. But I think for me monster/superduke/tuono beat out the others. Just such incredible bikes
agreed waiting eagerly
of course they do. but they are also considerably more expensive.
hands down my absolute dream street bike. sick riding Zack
Zach, AMAZING!! Always a huge fan of what Aprilia has done but wish they had a better dealer and parts network.
Mad skills!! I wish I could ride half as good as you.
This brought smiles to my face. Dam, thanks for the awesome review.
Great review and commentary from zach. Nice to watch him fang it around COTA.
Having watched loads of his videos I've come to the conclusion he is the god of motorcycle reviews and he can certainly ride a bike. Thumbs up +Zack Courts.
Looking to buy a 2013 Tuono this Saturday. Thank you for keeping me stoked. Great video.
love this type of review, doesn't get better than that
I like the bike reviews at the track. Cool bike!
CBR 1000 Double R babyyyy
Thanks for showing "backing it in" with the auto-blip, that technology is pretty slick!
Got one in my shed.
Haven't ridden it yet.
Can't wait to get home.
Zack can friggen RIDE! Awesome review.
Cool video - thanks for posting. Ordered a '17 Tuono Factory. First shipment arrives in NZ in three weeks.
This guy is really good, 5 star content.
I am really excited to see Zach and Ari doing some roadtrips together this summer. I'm hoping they will do some of them on used bikes or vintage bikes, Top Gear style.
Absolutely fantastic review.
Awesome episode. She sounds great!
You reminded me that I haven't hugged my Tuono today....brb
I do that
You give genuine reviews.
Great riding!
You're one hell of a good rider man!
Epic riding man. That was most enjoyable.
Good little review, looked like a great track, Ive brought new 2018 being delivered in jan cant wait now.
Lee Kindell u bought an '18 factory? Jealous!!!! Owned my first Supernaked after a ton of sportbikes and it's my new favorite bike class and was my favorite bike I've owned (MT10) wheelies on wheelies, all the torque down low and midrange but being a crossplane 4 had the power in higher range too, such a blast! Now an 18 Factory , wow!
THE track dominator at our track track days is on a '17 Factory , stock , destroys everyone on sportbikes with his snaked!!! Dude is easily mid 70's, white hair and British lol. Amazing to watch tho, it's a track weapon! He rides it to the track with a back pack 120 miles each way brings tools etc destroys everyone and rides home. Funny to watch these 40 year old experienced riders on build race bikes get beat by experience, skill and less power. He brakes later and slides in to position and shoots out the corner faster with the torque on the v4 , pulls through the whole track on everyone hits the long stretch and by the time they catch up he's at the end and IF anyone passes which is rare , he late brakes slides past and does it all over again. Unbelieveable, this winter he's doing some power upgrades and there won't be anything to touch him. I laugh at the comments saying Jsut buy a sport bike and whoop on this tuono , lol number one ,it's an RSV4 with a flat bar , it's a race bike , you're not going to whoop on it on anything with the right rider ,second it's a bike you can daily as a more upright naked . People are missing the point! The entire idea is it's a hell of a lot more comfortable then a sport bike , top exotic parts and totally track weapon that can be faults commuted and toured on.
@@lingenfelterzeeohhsix8154 that sounds awesome, love to see him ride. wonder where in uk he’s from. Yeah i looked at many superbikes as thats what i have always had and decided for change and go for the naked. Like you say its just a superbike with little more comfort from straight bars.
Lee Kindell same here man, I wish I'd come across them sooner as most my riding has been street and commuting makes more sense then a builtand super uncomfortable R1 . Lol. I'm not sure where he's from , he had an RSV4 also but only saw it once . But he killed it on the tuonos. Sure he rode professionally at some point. Always amazed to see so many riders at Isle of Man TT that are old. Hope I'm that awesome some day. Enjoy that Factory. I was stupid for selling the mt10. Got such a steal on t won't find a deal like that again. Ride safe
Love the look of this bike... it looks soo good...
Really decent review. Nice one pal.
Great review champion!
What an awesome Bike and an awesome track you lucky lucky man
Great job Zack. Awesome bike.
Motorcyclist Magazine please do "exotic" superbike shootout: 2017 HP4 vs 1299 superleggera vs H2R vs RC213V-S on one of the MotoGP tracks. Boy oh boy this would get 100M views. (And yes I know that HP4 and superleggera haven't officially launched yet.)
Don forget the RSV4-FW GP
he needs to do more motorcycle reviews lol
superb video, mega cool. loved the video.
what a lap for a naked bike!! it's incredible. I've managed to blag one for a week from aprilia UK! yes I'm a lucky fucker 😁
What a great review
I just added a third Tuono to my Thunder Cloud collection a 2014 V4R APRC 1000 to go with 2004 V2 1000 & '21 V4 1100 RR
Awesome riding, Awesome review..subscribed
Man oh man, I went from 16 supersport bikes to my first naked bike becaue of an accident in 2006 on my Ducati 999R Fila, and couldn't do the shupersport postition anymore. Was panicked about leaving the power of my last bike a '15 R1, tried a few base nakeds first and was so disappointed in the gsxs1000, cb1000r z1k and 900, and thought life was over , then had a local KTM dealer get a superduke 1290R in and realized the show was still on! Power and torque were so rediculous I wasn't wanting for ANY more , performance was so good and then realized holly crap,..I'm not hurting!!! No pain, total comfort several hours in! I've never rode dirt bikes much so wasn't super comfortable with the supermoto position sitting ontop of the front wheel, especially on the wheelie king , felt like I was sitting on the tank stunting through wheelies and kinda creeped me out at higher speed power ups. Price of course was painful too but happy to know there was something that didn't hurt and fulfilled my need of speed, have always heard a lot about the Tuono and have always wanted to try one but no aprilia dealers in my state, which is a problem for service of course, and hearing they aren't the most reliable of bikes it scared me not to mention coat of service and parts. A local exotic car dealer got a tuono v4r 1100 factory in and I sprinted to try. Was definitely right off, the most fun and exciting bike I've rode, ALL the power of a supersport , I mean it's literally an RSV4 with a flat and tuned differently for low and midrange but having the top end of a 4cyl and the low and mid of a v4, literal top of the line,....everything! Components, brakes, oh the brakes! Never felt anything like them, the power and tune was PERFECT! SO clickable, punched out of the corners like nothing else , pulled so smooth and hard and SO confidence inspiring with all the rider and safety aids of their full track ready RSV4 RF , was literally perfect ! Price was really high,..well not really high, it's actually priced low for the top exotic components it has , in my opinion, but expensive for sure for a naked but it is a Supernaked after all, literally the top performing of all nakeds. In all honesty tho , yes it's so much more comfortable than say my r1 or an RSV4 , BUT ,I did have some pain , which told me the rider position and triangle was closer to a sport bike than the other nakeds. So pulling the trigger on soenthing that was yes top of the line but still a bit painful to ride, and paying more than I would for a nearly new r1m was a tough deal. The superduke was out , steering dampner was near non existent, no quickshifter autoblipper,(2017 hadnt come out yet) and I wasn't confident in the rider position. Decided to try the tuono rr, before getting on the bike I knew I'd hate the look of the tail becaue I did already from pics, they need to have an option from factory to put the RSV4 tail on like the Factory version becaue that tail is so ugly, the huge single 2 up seat ,..the headlights are outdated , very much so but the factory tail makes it perfectly fine,..but the rr tail and that nose together was bad. BUT thought with the $4k I'd save I could see about swapping the tail to a factory tail and doing some upgrades . Never ride a Factory or RF if considering a Tuono RR,..the factory is SO absolutely perfect that NOTHING out there will fee as good , the Sachs was fine but just that,..fine,...not ; "one of the best setups ive ever rode" like the factory Ohlins, everything was just SO much noticeably better on the Factory thatits was so obvious that the Factory was actually a STEAL! To buy the affordable RR which is a great bike and then upgrade to all the components and aids of the Factory and do the tail swap would be so much more than a Factory. Just a testament to how good the Factory is. That season there was a rider who just dominates track days here he's got solid white hair ,probably in his 70's and rides a Tuono Factory, um talking destroys the built ameteur race bikes with a LOT more power than his stock tuono , he'd brake a lot later and punch out of the corner so much faster on the tight track set up he wAs unwatchable and long track setup,he'd use that as advantage but also had an awesome back straight power and top end for a snaked that he'd still maintain lead and if passed at the tail end of straight he'd brake later , slide in and then punch out of corner 1 and build his lead again. I'd marvel at this British grandpa on a naked every week. First time I saw him was years ago on a '14 tuono , with the ugly headlight of that generation but did have a custom RSV4 tail , he'd extensively modified the tuono with all sorts of random aprilia race parts , this guy would just barely outpace everybody , bikes that were built race bikes , thought he must be some ex wsbk pro, some 40 year old, had an insanely nice leathers setup , I pulled over to chat with this young pro and he took his helmet off and yup, Grandpa and British (in utah USA) super humble but the knowledge he had was crazy. Did all his own work. I was there the week he got his new Factory and first brought to track, his first time on it and he DESTROYED EVERYONE!! Funny the rider there actually use him as their demo stig. Put an extremely experienced 75 year old British grandpa on a Factory and no one will touch him. This guys said it right, it's a weapon in the right hands. If I had good street experience and was jsut getting into track days , I'd get a tuono RF , street , tour, learn on a bike that's more clickable and maneuverable that anything out there, world exotic top end parts and rider /safety aids , you learn the physics of body control and fee the physics of the bike , frame and movement on a naked SO much faster. I'd be a better tracker if I'd started on a tuono RF . Aprilia , you've got a pack leader, but please get a dealership to utah USA! Have to ride 1,500 miles to get to the nearest!
Any tuono riders2016-up ;...how've yours been for reliability? Cost of service and maintenance? There are zero out here except grandpas , only one I've ever seen actually, and wondering if the whole crappy reliability thing is a myth? I'd LOVE to buy a Factory ifits ok?
In the end while trying to decide but knowing it'd likely be the $18,000 Tuono Factory , the Yamaha FZ10 (MT10)was released here in US, the much antisapated naked r1 that Yamaha had been saying would be the first Japanese supernaked and would rival the euro exotic supernakeds. I LOVED my 2015 R1, the crossplane 4 Motor had everything for me, decated it has the sound of aprilias v4 (greatest sound on earth) but with a little twin character worked in, but the broad smooth power , high Reving and reliability of an inline
Could you repeat that please?
Davey Lad LMAO. NO!!!
Did I hear a foot peg scrape?......nice vid, I've lusted after one of these for 4 years or so now. Every since they came up with the V4.
I was at the dealership the other day....... AND NoW I WANT ONE!! Never thought I would but i'm really thinking........YESSSSSS!!! LOL
David A lol ride it and you're screwed!!! I used to talk trash on nakeds by never rode one, thought sportbikes were it, base nakeds sucked but the superduke , tuono factory and MT10 are their own class, actually more fun than any of my sport bikes, be prepared tho, once u ride a Factory , nothing will come close in performance . I LOVED my MT10 , half the cost of a factory and very close in performance, quicker 0-60 by a lot but the components weren't as good as a factory and nothing will be. If ur considering an RR, do NoT ride the factory or you'll be disappointed !! Lol I'd love one but no dealers here .
Watching Zach ride makes me feel better about my riding style lol
Really amazing bike! And Zack seemed like he was enjoying it (167 mph!!! WTF!!!). Can't wait to see a comparo between this, the new KTM 1290 and any other who dares to get in this fight...
excellent review!
Wow! You were totally fucking about for the first minute or so, then you threw that thing around like a rag doll.
Superb to watch.
Really exciting.
Wow great video.
Thanks.
Amazing Ride! 👌🏼
You guys are amazing
I had the opportunity to test ride one of these Tuono Factory 1100's recently. And I can say it was amazing.. just on the street track mode might be a bit much tho :)
why do they have the passenger pegs on the bike if there is no passenger seat?
Mike Ferguson good question
Mike Ferguson
because under the cover is the passenger seat
because you can demount the cover and can attach a passenger seat
they give you a passenger seat with the bike you deattach the cover and install the passenger seat, like in many sportbikes, its much smaller than the non factory version but looks sooooo good as a one seater
I don't think so. The RR but not the "Factory" as this one is.
Would have loved to see outside shots to complement the on board view. It would show the bike and Zack in action!
You are awesome.. keep up the good work
Great review thanks
Fun to watch
I'm sorry I've only ridden 70s and 80s bikes. How is that quick shift working? He was shifting up and down without the clutch, whats going on there?
Cody Allen the bike does the blipping for you to get into gears. You don't need to let go of the throttle anymore while shifting.
Tuono has always had the vest sounding factory exhaust note of any bike made. Always hard to tell on a video but it sounds like the Euro4 muffler has tamed that quite a bit.
Sounds SO good! Guy can really drive :)
Andddd I just bought a 2017 Aprilia Tuono Factory....thanks dick 😂 My 899 is jealous! What a machine!
Great review, awesome looking bike! Are those Racer High Racer gloves you are wearing ?
2:42 that laughter of joy :)
Aprilia Tuono 1100 review: Zack - "Woo hoo hoo!!...Boy oh boy oh boy.." : )
The second time I watch this video you are a very impressive rider to keep a train of thoughts while going around those turns at 100mph very nice 👍 You can ride my bike anytime dude :)
Fantastic review. Great presentation. This animal seems like a track bike. Surely all that power + electronics package will be totally wasted on the street. Unless you ride like an absolute mad man.
I agree... however, it depends on what you're used to; my friend is used to race-prepped Fireblades etc, and he finds the Tuono 'too comfortable'... if you're used to a GoldWing or an Electra Glide, you'll come off the Tuono and spend a week in bed with sore knees/wrists/neck; I must admit it's not an ideal bike to ride 300mi/day at sloooow speed
I ride all backroads and REALLY out of the way roads. I ride like an absolute mad man. This bike is perfect for me for street riding. I love this bike. I'm trading in my current bike for this monster!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Zack!!! You are one the of most luckiest person to have such a dream job.
If you are allowed to have only one bike which one would you select. It should be good for commuting, curn highways km (yeah I am from india), weekend trails.
I know it's a difficult one, but pl do revert. It would be interesting to know if a bike does exist for all above list of requirement.
Happy Riding. Godspeed.
P.S: Add one or two track days to above list
Aprilia is now taking the same bikes reviewed at COTA to local events for test rides (at least the Tuonos).
Thanks Aprilia.
great vid Zack. makes me feel a bit cheated that I didn't wait to purchase the 17 instead of my 16 factory.😏
Bike of my dreams, unfortunately Aprilia has very low interest in Brazilian market where Honda has solid raised roots! But one day i will ride one of those epic machines!
could you make a video comparing petal discs and round discs?
So, Tuono or Street Triple RS and a few grand in your pocket?
Street Triple RS v Tuono, you having a laugh mate.
I've had both. Tuono. Every. Time.
This guy is great.
Does it just look like it or do the ends of the handle bar almost touch the ground while cornering?😅
Awesome video! Thanks :) Were you knee scraping or peg scraping on some turns?
Thanks Zack, really enjoy your commutes. Have u done a 1299 panigale?
can you do a test on nakeds all with the same tyres on as i think it would be a better test of all the bikes as tyres make such a big differince. i ride mt10sp so please test one of these
adrian tompson I've rode every naked 2016 and up and all super nakeds when looking, the tuono factory was the best I'd rode , track weapon , but I went FZ10 (US) and saved almost $9,000 US , yes it was new! Got a dealer steal! While I LOvED the FZ10 it still wasn't the top components of the factory ,...NOW , it the SP was available here in the US , I'd go SP 100% hands down!!! The electronic Ohlins is the absolute best out there . The SP is comming to the US and is said to have a big brake upgrade too so will literally be the the bike of bikes! Jealous u live where there's sp's
Great test. Do you not consume sport drinks or do do a Valium drip before the tests? You are the best tester!
how bad was the wind?
Does this have a really tall 1st gear like the 13 Rsv4 factory ? Should have 184hp like the old rsv4 before the move to the RF !
GREAT SKILLS!!! It's a freaking shame that Aprilia has so many glitches or I would own one.
Speed Triple hasn't been updated for 2017 yet.... So best bang is still the S1000R, but I have the 2016 ST-R and it doesn't disappoint but having 160hp vs 140hp, but that sound of the Aprilia 👍🏻👍🏻
2HELNBAK I always had high hopes they would (in the last refresh) drop in the 1200cc Triple engine from the Tiger Explorer with maybe a lighter crankshaft, better head, cams, hi C.R, etc and finally give the SpeedTriple some massive Testicular Fortitude. Here's hoping to happen in the next revision or refresh. 🙏
Best bang for buck here in the US for me was the MT10 , I paid $9,200 US for a new one at launch , 160 hp,15 less than the factory but quicker 0-60 so it's all good.
Will you guys do reviews on the electric motorcycles like the zero S?
Best bike! Thinking about trading my gsxr for one.
Moto Monkey Madness Don't do it.
GSXR Accumulated Reward Squid Points cannot be transferred to your new "Bike Account". 😁
JIGA BACHI are you telling me I can't stretch the tuono?!?! blashemy!
Moto Monkey Madness You're a good sport, unlike half of YT commenters. 😎👍
When you're talking about taking a corner you ponder if you can 'back it in'. What does that mean?
he was using the rear brake to slide in the corner a little. in this case the bike oversteers to get a better line through the corner.
please do an MC commute on this bike..
Damn it Zack, every bike review i shit my pants watching you drive. Your skills are freaking amazing.
What gloves are those? I need 'em.
Do they come with rear seat cowl ?
Where'd you get that sweet shirt?
this or the new superduke 1290 id have the hardest time picking, if you had to have one which would it be ?
I do have one, it's the Tuono. Puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.
Depends on u, Lamb Chop Rides does a comparison on the factory and superduke and their both such great performers but so different. Factory is a track weapon u can commute on ,superdukes are loved by tall people , Jsut comes down to what u want it for how much priority is on comfort , some people hate the more forward position. On the tuono , some hate the supermoto position on the SD, to each his own. I LOVED both but went MT10 and saved $9,000 US.🙂. Factory was a dream of mine but couldn't justify twice the cost.
what's up with your pinky on your left hand?
I have one on order to replace my 2012, just waiting for it to arrive at my dealer.
Nick P I hate you...let it be known. 😕😆
how to do those back in Zark?
proper proper dream bike... maybe i have to sell my 16' 939 hypermotard sp...
That's it i'm getting one.
As a daily commuter, which would be better - this Tuono or the new Super Duke? Comfort is the name of the game.
The Duke has a more upright seating position.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
This is literally an RSV4 with a flat bar, superduke will be more comfy, lol. Go to Lamb Chop Rides channel, he does a comparison on the superduke and tuono factory
