@@hyek2.0 that's the most unfun, boring and utterly shitty way to view the story. You may as well say that the prequel never existed, and then we're right back at square one with giving RDR1 context. If you're going to remove every instance of rdr2 adding extra context to rdr1 that wasn't accounted for in 2010, it'd be a really really (good game but a) shitty prequel that would add very little to the original game If you went and said "John didn't learn to run and not look back from Arthur, his life wasn't saved by the guy who Dutch betrayed and he didn't learn to love and embrace his family over time", you have literally done NOTHING in the prequel to explain ANY of the characters or their motivations and traits, at that point it's barely even a prequel aside from it sort of connecting to the first game, and the first game stays entirely the same

I remember being apprehensive about playing as Arthur in rdr2 when it first came out, but after 2 minutes I was in love with him. Absolutely phenomenal writing for this game
He didn't. But Arthur didn't sit around and pout. He didn't whine or give up. Arthur knew this was unfair, and despite all the unfairness and cruelty of the world Arthur rose above it all and chose to do something good anyway, with the time he had left. In this, we should all aspire to be like Arthur 🫡 (no I'm not crying as I write this)
i absolutely love it how john still follows what arthur told him to do years ago, to run and don’t look back. he never talks about arthur because arthur told him to not look back and to keep moving forward. absolutely amazing. edit: i apologize for saying it twice, i was really high when i originally made the comment but i think it’s to funny to change 😂
John going after Micha was the precise paradox about "not looking back." John tracks Micha down, kills him, Ross finds Micha's dead body and then finds John's homestead, leading to the events of the first game. If John actually listened to Arthur, he would of been just fine.
This game teaches you many things about life honestly. If you sit back and think on a lot of it. It’s a masterpiece. I’ve been obsessed over it the last couple days. I somehow am just now getting myself to play the story of the second game. Finished the epilogue last night and since, I have been watching videos on the first games story since I forgot much of it since I last played. And man. It’s so much to take in. I forgot the key roles the gang members played in the first game. Hunting Dutch. Javier. Bill. Seeing uncle die. It makes everything make so much sense. And it really changes how you see John. I always saw him as THE big badass of the gang. But you see in rdr2 he was the “little brother” in a sense. He always had dutch and Arthur and everyone else to protect, teach, and save him when need saving as dutch and Arthur would say haha. And then seeing Arthur’s death, change him into a combination of what he once was, with his new self. It really shows you how he got to where he is. I really wish they’d make a story dlc for Sadie and Charles tho. Even tho we know they likely moved on with there lives and did what they planned in the mission killing Micah. I have so many yet so little words. I play on PC, so for my second play through I have decided to download some quality of life mods to make the game even more of an experience! And last but not least. Lenny.😪 it made me cry. Happened so fast and has no time to say goodbye😢 probably one of my favorite characters in rdr2. I think the thing that hurts the most about RD2 is that we’ll never get to play such an amazing character like Arthur again. At least with John we got to see/play him again in RD2. I’ve never cried over a game or game character before, but here I am. Sobbing. Crying. This game, I became emotionally attached to this game. We all miss Arthur.
He was a criminal
I reccomend cyberpunk then, its also sad as shit
Am I the only one who didnt end up like that? It might have something to do with the fact that I was spoiled to that Arthur was gonna die before even starting to play the game

I love how they created a game where most of the characters in the game loved Arthur as much as we do. He was more than just someone who saved them once; he was so much more.
I remember when people were upset they wouldn’t play as John in the 2nd game but rockstar knew better and made the better choice by far as letting us play Arthur Morgan who I think is the best rockstar character ever by far
Trevor Philips is the best Rockstar character imo 😂

Heh. Nah. I bet Arthur would be on John's kill list in RDR1 if he existed in that game. Just like what he did to Javier.
@@supremedealer6697 absolutely not 💀
“you have forgotten people far more important than me partner.”
hits way harder after you realize he didnt even mention arthur a single time in rdr
Nah, wasn't working on rdr2 yet but had it in planning but still decided who was going to be the main character.
That's why he never mentions him in rdr1.
So stop pulling fake stories that rockstar didn't even knew.
@@hyek2.0 rockstar still had the idea of john having a very close friend that was like a brother to him while rdr1 was in development, while they didnt know who it was they still had the idea of it, just because they didnt know the name of the character doesnt mean theres no way to mention him, they couldve done something like god of war where kratos refers to atreus as “boy” because they hadnt made a name for atreus yet
@@hyek2.0 that's the most unfun, boring and utterly shitty way to view the story. You may as well say that the prequel never existed, and then we're right back at square one with giving RDR1 context. Example: Dutch in rdr1 repeating the same speech he did in rdr2 has so much weight and implications about his regret and guilt over what happened with the gang, the speech was given extra context while still making complete sense for his character. If you're going to remove every instance of rdr2 adding extra context to rdr1 that wasn't accounted for in 2010, it'd be a really really (good game but a) shitty prequel that would add very little to the original game
If you went and said "John didn't learn to run and not look back from Arthur, his life wasn't saved by the guy who Dutch betrayed and he didn't learn to love and embrace his family over time", you have literally done NOTHING in the prequel to explain ANY of the characters or their motivations and traits, at that point it's barely even a prequel aside from it sort of connecting to the first game, and the first game stays entirely the same
@@JaxxMCC Jesus why did you write a whole article?
Apparently that's supposed to be in reference to the girl that Dutch shot on the boat

John going after Micha was the precise paradox about "not looking back." John tracks Micha down, kills him, Ross finds Micha's dead body and then finds John's homestead, leading to the events of the first game. If John actually listened to Arthur, he would of been just fine.

@@Dogwater68probably just you
This game teaches you many things about life honestly. Just going to see his grave in game brought tears to my eyes
And it's even more beautiful when you realiser that Arthur is that he wanted his grave facing the sunset and Charles accomplished that by putting his grave I'm the top of a mountain facing the sunset.
I think the thing that hurts the most about RD2 is that we’ll never get to play such an amazing character like Arthur again. At least with John we got to see/play him again in RD2. I highly doubt Rockstar will ever bring Arthur back, and by the time they decide to make another game it will most likely have different characters/main character. Arthur really is one of the greatest video game characters of all time.
