The 8th mission, aptly titled Blitzkrieg, returns to an Axis perspective where the objective is to take 10 territory points with limited forces, fourteen if going for the bonus. As you progress throughout the mission and earn experience, you will be granted access to call-in abilities to help aid your forces: Panzer tactician to deploy smoke from your vehicles, rapid movement (sprint) for all infantry, and finally anti-tank stuka support. Your starting forces are two Panzer IV F1 medium tanks, two Scout cars (unupgraded), two half-tracks, and of course two squads of Pioneers and Panzer Grenadiers each. Keep in mind you need at least one squad of infantry alive in order to capture territory, so if all four squads are destroyed you will lose. Everytime territory is captured, you gain additional munitions and manpower to recover any losses. Keep in mind, the AI cannot retake any points so it's fine to ignore them after taking it hence why I rushed to secure the Southern portion of the map early on. Everytime points are taken, response forces that escalate in difficulty will respond and move to engage your forces. Out of all obstacles to be on the look out for, Guards Rifle equipped with PTRS rifles will shred your light vehicles in seconds so be aware of any groups at all times. I've found the best way to deal with infantry is upgrading at least one of the half-tracks with a flamethrower to even the odds. Obviously support it or it won't last long when going to to toe. The best way to deal with hostile vehicles is let your Panzer IVs take the brunt of damage whilist supporting them with captured AT guns and flank with the upgraded scout cars. Do not forget to utilize the smoke screen ability once available to help pull out of a sticky situation. One popular method is to go straight for the Tank Depot to secure as many of the unmanned vehicles as possible to amass a fleet of tanks, but I figured I'd challenge myself by leaving it for last. Enjoy! Edit: there was a video/audio error in the recording for the episode so I had to splice in separate footage to keep it as fluid as possible. Didn't want to reattempt on an otherwise solid run. Hopefully I'll catch any future errors to save myself the embarrassment.

10 years ago, yes that long ago time sure flies, this mission used to be quite a pain in the neck on General Difficulty. Panzer 4 F1 was the shittiest tank in the game, even worse than the light tank which was effective in their role, with very low penetration value and even worse explosive power against Infantry compares to 222 Scout Car. Flamethrower Halftrack was a must-have to deal with the enemy infantry quickly. Especially after you captured 6 territories which enable more guards unit to spawn in to reinforce the remaining objective. And then there's the then-unnerf T-34-76 which SOMEHOW had the same exact armor as their 85mm counterpart. So imagine the shitty Panzer 4 F1 with a short 75mm, which also somehow inferior than their Stug 3 counterpart, against a T-34-85 with 76mm gun. It was a real hell. Truly a 1941 Wehrmacht experience.
@@Heylanda-fb9xb I've noticed the Panzer IV F1 is still terrible at long range to pen a T-34 unless rng is on your side or it vets up a little. I agree though the difficulty modifier plus MP patches affecting the theater of war mode really throws things for a loop.
@@StarMarshal All things considers, this "shitty" Panzer 4 F1 have come very far since then. I mean, just look at how it squad-wipe the Guards in 1 shot. @Heylanda-fb9xb I think the Vet 3 T-70 does that level of damage, but the regular not so much. I think I'd use the Panzer Grens more if the ptrs upgrade wasn't forced into you. The officer assassination mission? It's actually pretty easy once you know the map layout. Or do you mean Schildkroteberg?
@@StarMarshal Yeah. I meant Schildkroteberg. I genuinely forgot Officer Assassination exist before it. That mission really highlights how much of a bastard child German faction was for Relic back in the day. Stuck in Tier-1 while the Soviet already deploying Tier-2 units against you. @@filiptrescec indeed the sneaky buggers. I should've used the smoke screen on all the light vehicles. You hardly get any time to react given how busted the PTRS Guards are here.
