    Current day filmmakers take note, you can convey a sense of night without making your scene completely unwatchable.

      In the books, when Eomer meets the three hunters, Eomer insults Giladriel. Gimli would be ready to throw down with him. Shows how Gimli developed a connection with the Elves. Leogolas would then defend Gimli's honor when Eomer threatens Gimli which we would see in the film.

    Fun facts:
    1. The Elves were high-school/college students hired as extras and had to be drilled to march in formation for the scene, which wasn't easy and took the work of several people from the military.
    2. The Uruks stomping the ground with their spears wasn't really planned. The actors playing the Uruks just got bored on set and started it at random. Jackson liked it so much that he used it in the movie.

    • @aidynoconnor582
      @aidynoconnor582 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      That's part of why I dislike the fact that Jackson brought elves into this scene. He is basically forced to give them cheap deaths, otherwise there's nothing for Erkenbrand and the Rohan to do when they arrive with Gandalf. Also detracts from how bleak it looked for them, as in the books you have barely a thousand preparing to defend against an army more than ten times their numbers.

Eldrond trusts him blindly, legolas is his brother....he was what every man should be
    edit : hollywood writers note every detail in this scene and see how you're reversing cinema. legolas : im sorry to despair. aragorn : nothing to forgive, legolas. after all they went through together, and then just as your eyes get teary gimli arrives with the very logical situation that is hilarious. now every sentence has. to be a quip because of Marvel. man us, the gen Y born in the early 90s late 80s have standards in cinema that we will never accomplish again. pacino, de niro, viggo, bloom, the classic movies : apocalypse now, goodfellas, law abiding citizzen, liam neeson, waltz, the departed, shutter island, alien and aliens, terminator 1 and 2 ONLY training day, this awesome trilogy, de caprio, matt damon, brad pitt micheal bale....name me 1 actor today that can outshine any of those names.....honestly CGI really ruined everything, entitlement gave them reasons to be entitled, little brats....the ridley scott inaccurate but awesome epics, cameron working WITH lucas and spielberg and coppola.....like the godfather...we all know it by heart....kids and young adults will have the marvels, rings of power, endgame.....which honestly....only thanos saved it.... because he was right lol. but it's not a movie....it's green screens with people wearing puppets to play the role....i mean damn vin diesel made how many millions saying one word in different tones.....it's ridiculous and embarrassing, specially disney

If the inhuman army of iron-clad orcs wants to stop right at the 90 yard line, let's see if we can't find an extra post or two to push into that main gate.

    The three volleys of arrows are well thought out: as the orc army closes in, the elves atop the tower fire first as they can hit the furthest and have the best aim, second as the orcs get closer, the Rohan archers as they are not as strong or as accurate, and then finally the elves behind the wall as they are firing blind but they go last when the mass of orcs are closest. Also the archers respond to their respective commanders: Elves to Aragorn and Rohan archers to Theoden

    I always thought the elves arriving was pretty badass, but I also felt pretty sad for them bc it appears that most of them died. The elves were pretty much on a suicide mission, solely to fight alongside men again, just like Haldir said. I remember reading somewhere that there were 500 elves at Helms Deep in the film, and while the movie doesn't really show the aftermath of the battle in detail, I'd be surprised if even 50 elves made it, considering that they took the brunt of the assault. Still, were it not for Haldir and his elves, the keep wouldn't have made it over the night, and Gandalf would've arrived too late.
