When our oldest daughter was around 8 or 9 her dream was to marry Jake the snake Roberts, it took about 4 years before she outgrew that dream lol. I started watching wrestling back in 1966 when I was an 8-year-old little girl. I remember Smith, Bruce, Dean, Wayne, Keith, Owen and Bret Hart wrestle, Bret and I are the same age. I saw Bret once at the old Colosseum in San Diego and I remember telling my grandma someday when I'm older, this little Indian (Native American) girl is going to marry that boy from Canada and I pointed at Bret she just smiled and said ok, if you say so and she laughed. If you wanna discuss same time period's, Hogan didnt beat Bret in really any PPV numbers, or tv ratings or MERCH sales! RRumble 1993 (Bret champ) Buy rate 300,000, RRumble 1992 - 260,000 (Hogan)
WM 8, (Hogan champ) 390,000 / WM9 (Bret Champ) 430,000.
KOTR 1994 (Hogan champ) #s - 245,000 (Down from previous 2 ppvs). SSam 93 (Yoko champ) 250,000. SSeries (Yoko champ) 180,000.
1994, it went up every PPV besides KOTR 1994. RR 94 - 200,000. WM10 - 420,000. KOTR 1994, 185,000 (Hogan beat bret there) SSlam 94 - 300,000. SSeries 254,000. So as Bret was champ, numbers rose up and beat hogan's in 1993.
I think that speaks volumes esp in 1993. Hogan didnt beat Bret in same time period'of scandal era. Neither did anyone in WWF! You cant use post scandal era to Brets time as he was the one picking up the craps from fall out. Thats not fair. Hogan drew the best in a time where no sandals happened and he deserves it!! As I said he was biggest draw in USA, dont get it twisted from outside of USA tho. Actually as per Prichard show, Hogan went over sea's as champ to work with Yoko in 1993 and failed MISERABLY to sell out arena's. Bret would sell out every arena outside usa by his name a lone!
