      Legend has it, also, that he reads all these comments, and whenever someone talks bad about the way he looks, he hunts them down, and he does things to them that can only be described as “vicious.” Apparently, the one thing that makes him especially angry, more than anything else, is to be called scary looking. He also hates being called a dude.

    • @TheRedWaltz24
      @TheRedWaltz24 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And Ric Flair, Steve Austin Scott Steiner, Triple H, and Jesse Ventura also were heavily inspired by Billy. Flair was so "inspired" by Buddy Rogers that he took his name. Sting was so "inspired" by the movie "The Crow" he basically cosplays as the lead to this day. Wrestling is full of people taking heavy inspiration of those who came before and other popular cultural things. It isn't what you are inspired by, it is what you do with it. People just like to trash Hogan because they don't like him, not because he is deserving of it. He may not be the best individual, but that doesn't change the fact that he was one of the most impactful wrestlers to ever enter the ring; he accomplished more than Billy Graham ever did.

      @Cherokee outlaw 2.0 While that’s true, the extent to which Hogan took his character goes beyond lifting. It turns out, he told the higher ups that his shtick would blow up huge if he could be a baby face, but I guess they thought they needed to start new, since they always used him as heel. So they gave Hogan all his characteristics except as baby face, so Hogan got to blow up big. And yeah, he is humble now, but dude went off the edge with drug addictions because he couldn’t handle his character being given to someone else and himself made irrelevant.

    I was there at RR92 live, it was my birthday present. The fans were mixed on the Hogan elimination. There were many WCW fans in the crowd happy that either Flair or Sid was about to win the WWF championship. Hogan fans far outnumbered Flair/Sid fans. However, the majority of people did not like Hogan's reaction after being tossed out. Point is Hogan's time was far from over and it wasnt the majority cheering he was out. WWF clearly did not expect Flair to bring as many fans with him as he did.

      Melvyn Singleton except those other sports were not predetermined or choreographed. Vince made the conscious decision to make him “the guy” and he took the opportunity and made the most out of it. Unfortunately his ego ran wild and he stood in the way of pushing the business past himself on several occasions not allowing others to be bigger than him, even when he was older and past his prime. Which leaves us wondering if he did more harm than good.

Nash and him talked in a hotel parking lot for over an hour, with Nash explaining how Hogan was keeping the other guys down and not letting them get the right opportunities, and to Hulk's credit he sat there and listened to Nash say his piece, but in the end he just said "Brother, what you're proposing will cost me money." What Jerry Jarrett said stuck out to me because it applies to most guys today. Most guys today are wrestlers but they don't think they are wrestlers and don't see themselves as such, that's why they don't put the extra effort into their characters. Roman Reigns immediately popped into my head when he said that and to a lesser extent Drew McIntyre too. Brock Lesnar is an exception. He KNOWS he's a wrestler but doesn't really want to be one so he wishes he could pretend to be one but he's a natural! Roman really isn't.

    I think, especially in the 80s and 90s, that there was only a certain amount of money WWF was willing to pay out to all the wrestlers. And it wasn’t as much as the superstars make today. So Hogan wasn’t going to help bring new talent in that would dilute the amount of money being paid out to everyone. Of course he was looking out for himself, but he had been screwed over by promoters in the past and wasn’t going to let that happen again.

    Terry Bollea owes a hell of a lot to many people. There would’ve been no Hulkamania without guys like Superstar Billy Graham, Hiro Matsuda, Mike Graham, and Terry Funk taking him under their wing. Bollea is a lucky man, and he should have been more professional at least by paying it forward to others.

    As a fan. There is no denying what Hulk Hogan was to the wrestling business and his fame and popularity..
    But seeing how he was to his other fellow wrestlers and especially in my opinion the worst thing Hogan ever did in preventing the wrestlers from being unionized by rating out Jesse Ventura prevented many from receiving the necessary healthcare they could have gotten..so Hogan was obviously a much different person as a businessman vs the fictitious hero that fans like myself grew up and emulated...
    Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Scott Steiner, Bruno Sammartino, and his first wife Linda to name a few and many others all knew the piece of shit Hogan was as a person and businessman, and yet while all of this is true, there is no denying his performance and what he was to the fan base..
    I suppose the same can be said about many of our favorite actors and people throughout history. What you and I as fans who emulate and like them, behind the scenes, who they are as businessmen and spouses and other roles they take on in life are completely contrary to the hero and admiration status we put these people on..

    • @Doniedaff
      @Doniedaff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that is the thing I would hold against him too. Jesse was/ is good people. I am still a Hulkamaniac but when I heard that story I lost a lot of time for Hogan. He was a company man and he fucked Jesse over when he was only trying to do good, not cool. But the truth about Hogan is so much more complicated than anyone on either side wants to admit. Hulkamania was a myth, it was kayfabe, but the Hogan that many people these days want to portray as a universally hated slimeball out to screw everyone isn't true either. Hogan took the AWA faces to WWF and made WWF a massive success. Those same heads followed him to WCW at a time when WWF had been kicking its ass, and they turned it around. Hogan made wrestling what it was, but he was slow to know when to change. How he treated Brett Hart seems unfair and I say that as someone who never cared for Brett's character. But you have to understand this. Hogan told Vince that putting the Warrior over would be a mistake, Vince was determined and he played along. He put warrior over big time At Wrestlemania VI and Warrior proved him right, so he wasn't going to put someone else over again that he didn't believe in. I think that is fair enough. But listen to Angle talk about Hogan. He was in a panic because he heard all these horror stories about working with Hogan and feared Hulk wouldn't put him over, but he says they worked perfectly. Hulk would put you over if he thought you were believable. Most of the guys on this video did not speak particularly badly about him. Jake was just recalling an incident and it was neither of their faults. It is a pity as Hogan and Jake were/are my two favourite wrestlers, I would have been all over that feud. Terry Bollea is a complicated man with good and bad in him like most of us. He certainly isn't as virtuous as the Hogan myth but he is not the great Satan some make him out to be either. But for sure the way he stopped wrestlers unionising would be a massive black mark against him for me.

Then instead of paying attention to their mistake, WCW bought up allot of these old guys, and did great with the nwo, but overkilled it, instead of naturally ending it, and buried that young talent, that brought allot of Superstars to the wwe
