I am super happy with my Cammus C5 and it is obvious that the engineering and desing of the C5 is way ahead than their 15nm base. You are right about the ffb, most users have now realised that they are happier with more detail and less power, unless they want a retro experience. I hope new models will reflect that. Sadly the LP8 apparently is not good with detail either.
I have the Moza KS ($279) and it requires the Moza Universal Hub ($50) to work (that hub takes 2 usb ports, 1 for power, 1 for data) paired with the Cammus DDWB Nm15 seen in the video. It's a great pairing but the initial setup for the Moza equipment was rough! I got the bundle with wheelbase, wheel w/button box, and pedals and shipped it by sea to save on shipping. Under $1000. That wheel w button box is pretty good for the price, cheaper buttons but functional.
Just Picked it up at a Reseller here in Germany. I´m sitting at a weired Place. Not that big of a budget at the moment. With the CSL DD you need to add the new QR wich is like an additional 130€ with the Mclaren wheel and the Boostkit you are looking att 770€ for 8 Nm. Moza R9 with the KS wheel is about 750€. The Cammus was 770 with the formula wheel. Assatek is 1050€, Alpha Mini with a wheel is 1k. Correct me if im wrong but the cammus seems like a solid choice or am i wrong?
Yes, for the price so long as you don't need a large ecosystem, because the Cammus doesn't have very many options (but you can get any wheel rim and use a QR which is good). You were smart to go with the F1 wheel rim, now you can just pick up any round rim and a QR and you are in a really good starting spot. You can only tell the FFB detail differences by being very picky and going back and forth between another DD base. Overall, it has some really solid features that I think for the right portion of our sim racing community is a really good deal. Make sure to double check your usb cable going from the base to the PC, might need to upgrade with a better one as I mentioned. Also, dialing in the FFB can be a bit trickier then with Fanatec just due to the smaller community online and not a lot of resources on forums. I'd love to hear back on how you are enjoying it in a month or two.
@ACasualRacer Well good thing that its going to be my first DD base. I used a T150 for the last 7 years. So I,m not planning on buying 10 diffrent wheels like you said just a round one but that will be in the future. And I,m not planning to buy a new wheel base every year or so that's why it was important for me to have one with enough power so I don't have to upgrade that often. By the way, I feel like going fanatec would have been a bad option because I already have the csl v 2 pedals and don't need the extra and without pedals you pay extra.
Cammus really lets themselves down with a small a lackluster ecosystem. It's great they're tailoring their bases for the budget minded, but you kinda get locked into their tiny ecosystem. You might be able to attach any 3rd part rim that can be plugged into USB, but those rims generally aren't budget friendly. They need to introduce better quality wheels for their bases to make more sense. Hearing about a lack of FFB detail too really scares me away from them.
The FFB detail difference is very minor and only really noticeable when directly going back and forth between bases. The bigger issue is the lack of an affordable ecosystem to pair with the wheelbases and the poor quality of their button plate, which is one of the few things in their ecosystem.
That's definitely the more pressing issue. I think this base sits in a weird place because of that. If you're buying a base with the intent to purchase aftermarket wheels then you'll probably land on a more refined wheelbase. If Cammus had a more varied lineup of decent quality rims then that would certainly make their whole ecosystem a lot more appealing. @@ACasualRacer

Good to hear it works great together.

@@UpTownBoy09 from a T150 you are going to be blown away! Enjoy!
@ACasualRacer I,m as confused as you are that this poor flimsy thing is still going.
Will do put first few round will be trying not to lose my hand :D
Could you do a video about how to setup your FFB? Newbie here so not sure if iam doing thing right!
Yeah, that is a good idea. Obviously a bit more of an involved video to make, but its now on my list of video ideas!
Turn damper off in cammus I know that much. I use fanatec personally, but I've seen people say they turn off damper
