  • What problems await you after buying a used Mazda 6 GH 2007 2012.
The Mazda 6 GH is a mid-size car that was in production from 2008 to 2013. Like any used car, there are several potential problems that you may encounter when buying a used Mazda 6 GH. Here are some common issues that you may encounter:
Engine problems: Some Mazda 6 GH models have had issues with the engine's timing chain, which can result in a rattling noise and potential engine damage if not addressed. Some owners have also reported issues with the engine's oil consumption.
Transmission problems: Some Mazda 6 GH models have had issues with the automatic transmission, including slipping gears, rough shifting, and failure of the transmission. This can be an expensive issue to fix.
Suspension issues: The Mazda 6 GH suspension is known to be prone to wear and tear, particularly on cars that have been driven on rough or poorly maintained roads. This can result in issues such as clunking noises, rough handling, and uneven tire wear.
Electrical faults: The Mazda 6 GH has a relatively complex electrical system that can be prone to faults, particularly in older models. Common issues include problems with the central locking, windows, and dashboard displays.
Rust: The Mazda 6 GH is known to be prone to rust, particularly on cars that have been exposed to salt on the roads in winter. Rust can form around the wheel arches, the sills, and the floor pan, which can be an expensive issue to fix.
It's important to have a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic or specialist who can identify any potential issues with the car. Additionally, it is wise to obtain a vehicle history report to check for any past accidents or maintenance issues. By doing your due diligence, you can minimize the risk of encountering problems with your used Mazda 6 GH.

2009 Mazda6: 221,000 Miles or 336,000 KM and I spent less than $1100.00 USD in repairs, including replacing the front strut once and the rear shock twice. Engine warning light came on twice, replaced upper o2 sensor and cleaned EGR valve. Replace CV axle passenger side.
2.5 i 4 cylinder with automatic transmission. I did all the repair and service by myself. I bought a CD service manual on EBAY.

Well mate my 2011 Mazda 6 Sports Hatchback (2.5 litre gasoline) bought from new has only had to have the power steering unit replaced due to pot hole damage because the roads here in Australia are in many cases disgraceful. I have to say that I have had the car serviced regularly and sometimes even before a service is due. I find this car just about the best car I have ever owned and I have had many cars over 50 years of driving. It has a great body and mechanical build quality still has enough power for me and returns great fuel consumption figures averaging around 38-40 mpg after 165,000 kms travel plus I do like the not overly complicated setup of the controls which in some cars of today (2024) that are in my mind so complicated, convoluted, and frankly distracting for any driver while driving those vehicles.

Shutter valve sticking at 140,000 miles. Part is only around $50. Dealer might want to replace the intake manifold also.
