19: The Making Of Number Five

This is the approach they should take for making Johnny 5 in the remake. Animatronics have advanced greatly in the 25-or-so years since the original film, and full-on CGI would not seem quite right.
Plus, an actual robot would give the actors something real and actual to work with, instead of just forcing them to rely purely on imagination.

they are Gods for me.. to makeing this robot.. Johny 5 - was the best movie robot ever - most funnyst most powerfull and with so many feelings.. - this film was super.. a had my lego copy of J5 for 3 years - in one piece on my desktop when i was 12..
I loved this robot and remeber cryed when they destroying him in Short Circuit part two.. Its to bad - that this film isnt in dvd.. Best film ever of s-f..

Both Short Circuit 1 and 2 are available on DVD. I have them both.

That was one of the original designs created by syd mead the scfi guy his original design was more ball shaped, he was asked to make it more anomorphic im not sure if thats the correct spelling or word, but he was asked to make it look more like a creature or like man ie to have a head neck arms etc and a base to lower and raise, so that was the drawing they where given to base the work of the character on, Yes they made im look abit more friendly softed him up abit..

i built a smaller version of johnny5 out of the gear legos its almost movie accurate it took me 5 years to make and get right the most difficult thing was the torso part i could never get it but something fell out of my closet and hit me in the head and a prototype i made before in the past with a few changes came to mind and i made it and applyed it and now here i am
also where can i find the music thats in this video
