    I'm crying watching this. My son is going in tomorrow to get checked for this. It is torture as his father to watch what this is doing to him and my wife. I'm praying for a diagnosis and the surgery. Wish us luck.

    This made me cry! So glad you got help! So many Drs know nothing about this!

    This made me cry. I can SO RELATE to this mama! My 6 month old exhibits the same symptoms and was diagnosed after a dentist visit. Our revision is scheduled for the 14th of February and I'm praying we have the same results! I know this isn't my son and he is in pain. His sleep is poor, he cries and arches his back and spits up after feedings, and he's developed eczema most likely from being improperly nourished. He scratches constantly and most of the day is spent fussing and crying 😭 We're treating the eczema and hoping when his surgery is done, it will not correct his feeding but will help his digestive tract and help heal his skin. This video has given me hope!

      How is your baby doing now? Did he improve?

    • @jbnaturalsskincare
      @jbnaturalsskincare 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Juana Viveros He did! But we didn’t see a real improvement until he was over a year old. It’s almost like he just outgrew everything. We moved into a new house and within a few weeks, he started sleeping through the night, his skin improved and his overall health. He is now a rambunctious loving two year old and I thank God every day for his healing. I don’t know if it was maybe an allergy at the old house since he started improving after we moved or what happened but he’s healthy and growing perfectly normal now so I doubt his tongue and lip tie had anything to do with it now, since his revision was in February but his health was the same until September of that same year. Thank you for asking!

    What kind of pain does this cause? My baby might have it and he’s 12 months now. My instincts have told me he may have it but I was told “he doesn’t”. He’s always been under 20% for weight.

      Many times from air taken in while nursing. The lips and tongue provide a seal. Tongue and lip ties prevent proper seal and allow babies to swallow air. Many times babes are then diagnosed with reflux or colic, when in reality it’s just ties/tethers

    My son had a tongue tie, he got operated in hospital when he born,but it seems still he has problem pronouncing some words,do u think i should check it out with specialist?

      It could be that it reattached. If you don't do the exercises after it was done, it can reattach. I've seen it. Go do a Pediatric dentist in your area and have them look at it.

    • @avakate7747
      @avakate7747 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have your pediatrician look at it and if he cant give u a definite answer ask Dr for a PD reference in your area

    What really amazes me is that this was never heard of 30 years ago? Now, it seems every baby has tongue tie? What is the real story here?

    • @brunswickkidds
      @brunswickkidds  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The real story, Gina, is that traditionally tongue ties were only associated with speech problems, so for years they were treated much later in life (or never at all). The last 10 years or so, moms have decided to be more proactive, escpecially with breastfeeding, and as a result we are seeing a lot more babies for an evaluation, and harldy ever see an older child or adult with untreated restriction. Your are right, though: only around 10% of babies are affected. (but those tend to be the stories you see on the Internet).

      I asked a Doula and she said midwife back then would do the procedure with a long pinky nail and clip it that way when baby was 1st born so they can nurse

    I don't get it. What was making this little boy crie? Does a tongue tie hurt?

    • @HarrietBeaumont
      @HarrietBeaumont 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am tongue tied. No. I don't get this either :P

    • @brunswickkidds
      @brunswickkidds  8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      No, tongue ties don't hurt, but the inability to feed properly was introducing a lot of air in his stomach. "Aerophagia" is one of the reasons for the abdominal pain and discomfort in Andrew's story.

      23respectme No, he's a preemie do he's just not getting enough milk to sustain him so baby is very unsettled he's growing but he's not getting enough milk to satisfy him and his needs so it makes him a miserable frustrated little man. ☹️

    My son was dognosed at birth the midwife pointed it put straight away but we did see his tounge looked strange like a snake. Anyway I didn't waste any time I asked them to book him in for a division .. there was a waiting list and a hiccup but he's going tomorrow and he's 10week, unfortunately due to not gaining weight I stopped BF and went to fully formula bottle fed and he's still same falls sleep during feeds not drinking enough and waking every 1 to 2hrs ... won't suck a dummy.. clingy... short naps in the day... etc... can't eat for it to be done. Hes 10week old

      @@olanmagracie1648 same here! He dropped only 3% but by two days went ablive birth weight. Hes had it done a week now the tie and he's so much better he eats more sleeps so much better and gaining weight faster, seems much happier too! Still don't like a dummy lol but I'm ok with that.

    Is Frenulotomy same as laser??

    • @100FoldFarm
      @100FoldFarm ปีที่แล้ว

      A frenulotomy is when the frenulum (in this case a lingual frenulum or tongue frenulum) is cut to create freedom of movement for the tongue. The way is it cut doesn't change the name of the basic procedure. Some kids have gone under anesthesia and had it cut with surgical scissors and some have gone to the Dentist who uses the latest and greatest technology (so far) to almost painlessly release the frenulum of the tongue by "cutting" it with laser. So, as long as the frenulum is being released...it is a frenulotomy....no matter what way it is being accomplished! Hope this helps! I used to assist with surgical ones. I am so glad the in office laser technique is a reliable option!
