Gald you guys loved it. That ending has to be one of the most satisfying and rewarding endings in film history, especially after all of the heartache the film puts you and these characters through. Such a timeless classic. It's often revered as one of the greatest films of all time nowadays and it's definitely earned that label

As satisfying as it is to see them reunited on the beach, I feel like the ending would have been better if it stopped when Red was on the bus, saying all the “I hope…” things. Just dialogue-wise, it makes sense to leave it there. Hope is a good thing. But I also understand the Hollywood aspect.

One of my favorite movies, and one of the best endings I've ever seen.
To me, Andy's most impressive achievement is this: shortly after he was imprisoned, he started working on his escape attempt. He spent 19 years falsely imprisoned, enduring brutal conditions, helping his fellow inmates, enabling the warden's scams, etc. He planned his escape, changed it, refined it, and finally executed it flawlessly, getting the perfect revenge on top of it, and getting away scot free.
And in all those 19 years, he never said a single word or even hinted at his plan to anyone, not even to Red.
Thanks for the reaction and the video.

This movie is a homage to the patient and persistent. When you know your road you don't have to move quickly, only steadily.
Since you mentioned it, I find it very meaningful how the parole board members don't release Red until they could be sure that his spirit was broken or that he had become comfortable with staying in prison. As long as he had the hope of returning to a somewhat normal life, they assumed he had not learned his lesson. It is like they wanted to punish these people one last time.

One of the best movies you guys reacted to, I really enjoyed your commentary and reaction to the scenes you showed as they were some of the most iconic parts of this movie :))

Other movies that will give you an emotional roller-coaster ride :
"The Green Mile" (Tom Hanks), "Misery" (James Caan, Kathy Bates), both of which are taken from books by Stephen King (as is "The Shawshank Redemption").

Those that do Shawshank are always advised to do "The Green Mile" next (and vise-versa) because both are Stephen King stories made into movies directed by Frank Darabont, and excellent. Definitely do The Green Mile soon and don't research it to avoid spoilers. ✌😎

It was fun watching you See this. What a great movie.
I didn’t notice until a few times watching Shawshank that when he opens the Bible, there’s a note telling the warden that yes the salvation did lie within…. And then when he opens it to the Rockhammer page it’s Exodus. Talk about chef’s kiss!!

It is absolutely one of my favorite movies as well. One of my favorite things is Morgan Freeman's performance . A subtle example is when he was first rejected for parole , when he was walking back up to the yard, he paused to put his cap back on. He began to walk up the steps. It was as if he was putting his armor back on with each step. By the time he was at the top step he was in full swagger mode.

So happy y’all loved this movie but many people don’t know whom the Shawshank Redemption was about. It was about Andy, right? No, if you remember, in the beginning it was Red telling us about the time he met Andy Dufresne. This film was about Red all along. Red had to redeem himself, not Andy. Andy was never guilty so there was absolutely nothing to redeem. Red admitted to himself and all the other inmates that he was guilty. Red knew he deserved to be there & he needed to make things as right as he could, he served his time honorably. Red was the one whom needed to redeem himself and he did. The short story that this was based on is called, Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption. Written by Richard Bachman aka Stephen King.

I wonder when we will get to the point when young people don't get that reference. In the 90's when the movie came out, they were already on a downhill slide.

I can honestly say this is a top 5 best movies ever made. However in your video you missed the top lines, and most quoted lines. “Hope is a dangerous thing” and “Get busy living, or get busy dying”
This movie still brings me to tears after watching it for almost 30 years…
Also the escape scene where he times the rocks to the thunder strikes, was even more genius, which I wish you had included
