Castlemaine XXXX was brewed in Burton on Trent, not Tadcaster. Allied Breweries had the licence, not John Smiths. However, he cans were brewed in Perth Australia....initially. I sold tje stuff when it was launched in tje mid '80's

Grew up in the UK, moved to Oz in 88-92 from 10yrs to 14yrs. Been in Blighty ever since. Pretty sure I only saw these ads in the UK. Due to my age at the time it's difficult to recall what was popular in Oz when I was there, but I do remember VB being VERY big. But I do recall this long running campaign, just can't quite be sure if I saw it ONLY in the UK or if some of it at least was in OZ! But as others have suggested Crocodile Dundee (as well as other Australian exports like the ever present _Neighbours_ and Prisoner Cell Block H) might have influenced the campaign in the UK. Great adverts though! 🤣
