The next NBA superteam could take shape this offseason. The Houston Rockets have gigantic plans but some of it is out of their control. If they have their way then James Harden and Jaylen Brown will be in Houston next year but there are other options for the Rockets to build a contender overnight.

@@GARIONN1 no it doesn’t, KD was a full on unrestricted free agent and the best team of all time just magically was given all the cap space for a max slot to add to their existing team in one summer. That little piece is something that will never happen again, the nba realized what. Ridiculously stupid mistake it was and came right out and said nope never again, our bad. Jay,en brown isn’t eve; free agent of any kind this summer. There is actually absolutely zero way he just joins Houston this summer, especially in this videos scenario where Houston isn’t giving up their best assets to get him since it would have to a trade…. A trade that would have. Massively super competitive market with multiple suitors, and a trade that Boston can flat out say no to. And all of that is even the least likely scenario anyway bc brown is almost a lock right now after early voting results to be named all nba. Which triggers the supermax extension that he is in no place to say no to (losing $120M, flat out losing it in guaranteed money) and no one in their right mind would say no to. Which will add 4 more years to his contract WITH BOSTON UNDER BOSTONS CONTROL. Literally no way for him to just walk like a free agent and go where ever he wants with no other factors. And Boston can just say cool that you want to leave but you have no leverage or say, we will see ya at work buddy you’re under contract locked in for at least 4 more years (5 if the final yr isn’t a player option, which if giving him this insane supermax I doubt he will be able to get a PO, but regardless it’s 4 more years under complete control of Boston even if he does get the PO for year 5). There’s essentially zero chance of this happening and actual zero chance of this scenario here where brown is somehow a free agent joining where ever he chooses for zero loss of major assets and players, this summer

Trading Jalen green is a horrible idea, shouldn’t even be considered , he’s off limits. He was a 20 yr old why wouldn’t he be inefficient? Playing in a horrible system also made his play inconsistent which Udoka will change, trading a future scoring leader would be the worst move possible.
If none of these 3 things happen it means nothing, this team will be way better than last season just off having a real coach finally and the players will improve going into their 3rd seasons + a top pick from this upcoming draft + a ton of cap space sitting for the future. Rockets will be fine regardless

Teaming up with James Harden at this point in his career is a bad move for a younger star like JB. JB will likely have to take a LOT less money to leave the Celtics, but if he really wants to leave why not sign to play with Lillard, or maybe go to the Kings to play with Fox and Sabonis. Or the Mavs with Luka. But if Brown wants to be the #1 guy on a team, I guess playing with Harden would get him that. They arent winning any titles with that duo though. Brown is in a win/win situation with the Celtics, get the money and contend. Webanyama is raw and will need a few years to get up to NBA speed while he bulks up, I disagree with thinking of him as some instant superstar. The track record of guys that tall, nevermind that skinny, isnt good. Wembanyama needs a patient coach like Popovich in my opinion, someone who won't rush him and play him huge minutes right off the rip. If Wembanyama has a few years to bulk up and get more durable he'll have a better shot at a great career. Id hate to see another injury prone talent who cant stay on the court.

This is so weird. Rockets aren't even close to being competitive right now, so seems absurd to overhaul a large chunk of the roster to, what, become a low seed in the playoffs? The OKC approach is best IMO - accumulate good young talent, grow it, wait until it's just about at a boiling point - and then top it up.
Like, this is the kind of move that OKC should potentially be making, not the very lackluster Rockets. It's going to be a Nets situation all over again, where a team tries to force it, fails, and ends up in a worse position (though to be fair to the Nets, they were injuries and a Durant shoe away from having a very good chance at winning a chip).

Of course it would be great if Wembanyama came. But it should not be forgotten that Al-P is in the team. The trio of Harden, Brown and Al-P are scary enough!

Wembayama going to the Spurs and becoming a boring bank shot machine would make his numbers insane and would make his career last way longer. Not the most fun option but my favorite as a Spurs fan

i like the rockets plan since they have been rebuilding for quite some time and since they hired a good coach have young players they need to develop them to go win now mode. and bring in players with experince to help reach the playoffs and win a championship. but at the same time it risky cause no free agent will go there if they can,t be a good team and if they make such horrible roster moves like failing the trades for any of these players mentioned. and if they miss in the draft it might effect them down the line. and if the ocach fails with houston then it is a bad look for them.

I think he should be free to coach again. But I don’t think it’s a good idea for him to be handed a young, impressionable roster that has so far had no real structure or veteran leadership in place - at any level.
“My coach misbehaved once in Boston, so why can’t I?” Udoke is more suited for the Toronto job IMHO. Houston is a recipe for disaster.

Harden is a Great Regular Season Player but a Horrific Post Season Player 💯
Rockets don't need Harden but Jaylen Brown joining his old Head coach Ime Udoka in Houston can actually happen. Middleton has been linked to the Mavs. That makes more sense to me. If they get Wemby then I can see Jaylen Brown joining the Rockets. Porter Jr. Green Brown Wemby Sengun that's a scary starting 5 with Smith Jr. 6th man.

for those wondering why theres brown and tatum group? let me explain
imma a neutral celtics for 15 years until recently i hate the new joke fanbase.
brown has been so consistent over the years in fact last 4-5 years. doesn't have alot career high but always gives you consistent points on pretty solid fg%.
    tatum always has career/season high.
brown would outscored tatum on most nights that's why both of them wasn't far in ppg for last few season. (short ver: tatum is inconsistent)
not to mention brown defense especially in playoffs was outstanding.
the media of nba and boston celtics media has done everything and anything they can to promote tatum(same treatment lemelo ball has)
tatum has been given the silver spoon ever since he got into nba, the media, the team. making all the mistake he can make to grow while brown was on the bench trying to earn every minutes.
catch & shoot- slashing. out performed every single task brad steven given him to the point they have no choice but to give brown more minutes and touches on offense.
brown earned every minute on the court.
despite being only a year older than tatum.
brown was consistently bashed by celtics media and especially fake fans.
tatum can be averaging around 4-17 fgs and the media and the fans keep saying "hes only 19, hes only 21, give him a break" double standard
while brown gets "why is brown playing? he should be on the bench, trade him, brown peak is at best 3rd option"
plus kyrie-morris-smart toxic inner team conflict against brown.
that was the lowest we had been since we had tatum and brown.
since toxic kyrie and morris is gone. team got better.
    now hard facts.
tatum has been underperforming in playoffs in elimination games and he gets no blame or any form of accountability until only last year finals where all eyes are on both gsw and celtics. then people outside of celtics fanbase start paying attention to brown because media did not promote him.
in ecf 2018, tatum showed up for only 2 games and dunk on lebron.
brown and rozier showed up for 5-6 games however nobody ever mention them and tatum gets all the credit because he dunked on lebron.
had tatum just played a little, just a little better in any games that celtics lost(close game), celtics would have made the finals.
2019 celtics vs bucks playoffs? it's just kyrie-tatum taking turns to bricks. brown showed up and well no credit again.
2020 ecf vs heat . tatum only showed up for 2 games. brown played well for 5 games. again tatum gets all the credit and brown gets none from new celtics fan. we even have heat fans praising brown and asking why brown doesn't get more touch.
2021, brown gets injured out for playoffs. celtics got 1-4 by nets.
2022, brown gets more involve in offense. in playoffs. we revenge the heat, the bucks and the celtics sweeped the nets.
and the famous 2022 finals of tatum performance.
so for us true celtics fan who actually watch the game. tatum underperforming in elimination game and brown performing is nothing new.
so yes, we hate tatum because of all this fake casual celtics fan that recently jumped on the boat that holds the highest double standard i've seen in any fanbase.
this is what divided us. the media and the double standard fake celtics fans.
i sincerely hope brown goes somewhere he can be appreciated.
don't get me started about 2022 all star voting when brown was playing better than tatum before all star game and yet tatum was voted in and brown wasn't.
this shows you how low this celtics fanbase has become.

If you go for Harden, Smart, Middleton, the Rockets would be tanking again 2 or 3 seasons from now. Jalen is the face of the Rockets, he is untouchable and they are rebuilding around him that's why then tanked in the first place. Jalens development is their priority, not to mention Sengun, and Jabari. If they develop properly after getting Ime, then theyve hit the jakcpot. Harden might come back but he'll be just a vet and pg for Jalen, Jabari, Sengun.

Rockets fan here. I didn't think of the Udoka signing as a permanent thing. His stock is low so to me it makes sense that he'd spend a couple of years creating big improvement on a bad team, getting his demand back up, before jumping ship to a better job on a better team.
