This is a super interesting board. I think your setup is definitely an option and it worked out but it's a bit risky cos you are entirely relying on the 6. I think 4th has a LOT of options here but it's super interesting cos the 4/6/9 4/5/8 5/6/9 picks block out so much space on the board so it's quite likely that red and blue get forced onto coastal spots like 9/10 and 8/10. With this in mind I think I would pick 5/6/9 (road up) and 3/4/8 (road left). If you get on the 3:1 port you are in an amazing position. Downside is that black has a choice between 9/10/11 trying to go wood port (but I think red takes it) so probably more likely they go 3/6/11 and you could be in a race for the 3:1. A lot of other options as well. Think it's a really interesting board to analyse
Red made a huge mistake not building on the 3:1 port.
Yeah, a 'General Port' could've really helped them this game.
I think it's hard to visualise all of the expansions at the start of the game, but I can see how from their perspective the 8/3 looks great vs. building an extra road to the port. And then taking away the 6/3 from me makes sense vs. taking the 3 Wheat with the 3:1 port.
Very interesting point to think about.
Really appreciate the comment.
👍
At 29:20 should you have played an ofensive knight to get ahead in army? Since red has two devs and 1 knight played
Maybe moving it to 9 brick
Yeah fair point. I probably should have just played one but I think once I drew 2 more knights it felt like I was always going to be able to win/overtake the army race, so there was no harm just holding them for long-term defensive purposes.
With that said, since I had 3 in my hand it probably makes sense to just push forward...
👍
gg ziggy, playing with no wheat and no ore for fun is maybe not the best idea...
Cheers my friend.
I think the other 3/6/11 (with the Wheat) was probably a little better for you but not sure it's a winning setup either. I think we all had somewhat strange setups this game and I just got a bit lucky to have a wheat monopoly in the start + produce enough of them to be able to trade them off.
BTW, in the end of the game you mention something about me having a VP. Just to clarify, I thought it was obvious that I had one from the very beginning and was talking about how all I kept drawing from the deck were knights.
@@TryNiceGames oh yes i know the wheat was better, but I just wanted to do a wheat is for noobs game, because its all fun and games at the end of the day!
