The 2-5 wood port was much better than the 11-12 3 for 1 port. Since you had such high wood production.

Interesting game. At 7:18 I would have definitely chopped Blue's road if I was Green. The 12-5-6 spot may have low value resources, but it's worth 10 points of production nonetheless! As for the juicy 11-9-10 spot in the center, I would happily let Red, Blue and Black fight for it, blocking and stealing each other during the race. 😃

I hear you. I think if the positions are reversed I probably do the same thing.
What I was banking on is the fact that the 9/10/11 looks more attractive since it increases Green's Brick & Wheat production, which are the two resources he'd generally like to find more of in this game. He is pointed towards the Brick Port after all.
I pointed left thinking I'd rather not race for the 9/10/11, and leaving it completely open was like dangling a "carrot", making it just that little bit less likely for me to get chopped.

You had the 5 and 6 wood tiles, I was wondering why the wood port was never considered during the match.

Haha I’ve been yelling at my screen ever since he settled in the 5-6-12; glad I wasn’t the only one. Did you see the wood port there Ziggy? Obviously your setup gave you more range and setup the sprint win, but I was surprised as well

TBH, my mind was "preset" to go to the 3:1 and I wasn't really looking in the other direction. Even still, I think the 'General Port' is somewhat better for my setup because (depending on the rolls) I could theoretically overproduce Wheat & Sheep as well.
Taking the Tree Port means that I'll probably start overproducing Wheat since I'm doubling up on the 5, so yes, I'd be able to 2:1 the Trees but with the 'General Port' I can 3:1 them + every other resource that I might suddenly produce "Too Much" of.
It's probably a close call from a theoretical / statistical perspective. I wouldn't say either of the moves incorrect.
