Finally someone gives accurate information on the results of this mod. Adding the front inlet to the airbox simply allows slightly cooler air in to the intake versus the air coming in from the bottom. It doesn't increase air flow or density.
It's not an oiled filter for the paper filter. It's the PCV system that gets them real dirty. So please lol. Do not oil the paper filter or you'll ruin you intake sensors 👏🏻😅💯
That’s bad ass bro but watch a lot of dirt and bugs can get in it and it willl get dirty quick because of the headlight and when your ganna wash it don’t get water in the air intake bad ass video !!tho 💯💯
I have the hellcat lower box and headlight pass-through on my Challenger GT. Anyone use this setup in the winter/snow? Wondering about road spray, slush and salt buildup in the box.
What did you end up doing? I have the same setup and it's raining pretty hard right now. I'm wondering if water will make it's way to the engine from it
@@jminkvihubyb actually it's my 3rd winter come to think of it. Like I said, clean the filter every spring and do full synthetic oil changes in spring and fall. No issues at all.
Bro, air adds horsepower. Not much. But it’s definitely a gain. That’s the whole point of cold air intakes, splitters, spoilers, and even exhaust systems. The whole point is to manipulate air flow for higher gains.
OmegaGreed yeah, the Hellcat throttle-body should’ve been put on the moment you put in the Hellcat air filter box. You can also order the tuning kit from Diablosport if you want a quick pre-programmed tune. But still, anything you add to it to manipulate air flow will still add horsepower. The intake probably adds about 3-4 HP. That’s not a noticeable difference. But when you add the throttle body, a new exhaust system, splitters, etc. then that could easily give you a 20+ horsepower gain even without the tune. The tune is just icing on the cake. But I wouldn’t even get a tune until I fully modify it to my liking.
@@heatlifer3640 not sure if you should needs a tune. The oxygen sensor should detect the colder temperature and adjust the system accordingly. Just like it had to adjust to weather temperature changes.
@@OmegaGreedAK47 Hi Omegagreed, Buying a new challenger gt 2020 very soon. What do you think should be my first modifications? I was thinking of an ecu tune and hellcat airbox installation.
Thanks for the video, have you been on a line (Like at a fast food restaurant) and seen your temp spike closer to 200 degrees? I wonder if this setup keeps it cooler?
Stock doesn't pull from the engine compartment, there is a duct in the bottom of the box that pulls outside air. The hellcat headlight tube just allows additional air through the headlight opening. It will further reduce intake air temp at road speed, good mod, either Mopar CAI or Hellcat box/tube. Hellcat not as much cool factor, but much less expensive.
Did you upgrade the throttle body air intake? i think that is what it is called (new to the car scene lol). I've heard that upgrading the airbox alone you wont see much if any difference.
Sean O'Connor I didn’t get, I’m waiting to do anything else until I get a PCM swap with a custom tune. I think I want to go with wider tires as well for the summer. So many options to do next!
@@OmegaGreedAK47 What size tires you think you will get? I'm getting the wide-body so it'll be 305 for me just not sure if I wanna swap to summers or just keep the all season.
Swervin' With Sav I thought about that too, but it would be really hard for water to travel up the bottom section of the airbox through the air filter and through the intake tube to the engine. Unless there is a rain storm where water is being pumped all the way in the hole I think it should be fine.

I have a 2017 RT and Amazon is saying it doesn't fit...

I have to agree with you that this is the better option than having an open intake. Glad I found this video.
The point is lowering intake air temp which affects fuel ratios
Bro you have perfect timing, I’ve been wanting to do this and I look at your channel and your installing one 👍🏾

I just subbed you should be at 5k congratulations
Thank you!
With all the technology that these cars have you would think they could make the blinker quiter
The challalenger blinker is damn near silent compared to my 16 wrangler
Its not thr most techy car the Challenger. The backup cam is ughhh. My Rav4 2024 thinks like a robot lol.
Great video ! Like your style honest and straight forward!
Do you have an actual part number because all the ones I find it says it's not compatible to my '17 rt
I got a question, I got a 2012 challenger but I got some newer style headlights with the removable lenses will a conversion kit fit?
I thought you were going to install the blower and supercharge. I saw it somewhere on TH-cam. A guy put oil on the filter to catch dust.
Good video brother
How is the headlight air flow with rain water or car wash water?
How did you get your R/T to display intake air temp? thanks
It doesnt add more power, it allows some cars to get rid of wide lung/asthma
agreed! It didn't add HP but it made me think it did lol
@@OmegaGreedAK47 In a way it does allow the car to use more of its self. like taking off a gasmask you can breathe easier so you run longer/harder
I’m trying to do this to my 2015 challenger rt how can I go about doing that ?
It's probably the same method.
Bro how did you increased your exhaust sound of this car?
Mid muffler delete
Did you have to pull or reset any fuses? No engine light?

Get a tune done
by adjusting the air flow to the car wouldn't you have to change the tune because it would start to run lean
Check the manufacturer! Some upgrades are Non-ecu tuned! it'll say!

No Tune = very little gain. I still need a Throttlebody upgrade and tune to really take advantage of the more air flow.

Splitters and spoilers don’t make horsepower
so my problem is that on my 2019 rt I have a cap that you have to twist off or there are screws on the side of them and I can't get my caps off.

Did you get the non silencer tube or no?
Did the check engine light ever come on?
Parker Abrego nope, never came on for me.
Where did u get the inlet tube
Nice work!
U have to get the car tune
No
is the headlight opening a concern in heavy rain ?
No it isn’t I done the same thing to my R/T

Bro what k&n filter is that (part number)
I tried to find it but this is the air box, it came with the this kit. amzn.to/2xcbtHi
The oil in your air box is Blow by your old filter is a Fram air filter and is not supposed to have oil on it the k&n is supposed to have oil on it
A Oil catch can will take care of that, don't know for sure but I believe it's under $100 and extremely easy to install 👍🏻
