I had the original 1978 issue of this when I was a sophomore in college. Got this and the large x-wing at a Woolworth's (what's Woolworth's?) and in all honesty, for their time , these were outstanding kits. Yeah, Darth Vader looked like he was on the toilet but the room in that cockpit was pretty cramped, so looking down into it through the hatch was still pretty cool. There was no internet back then and really great photo reference just didn't exist. Also, modeling in the late 70s was pretty barbaric by today's standards and all the paints and glues we have today were still 'in the future'. Can't wait to do this one again. You got me all fired-up with nostalgia! Thanks Chris!
Imagine being a model maker for Star Wars. What an awesome experience. With all the CGI in movies today, the old ways are a dying art. So glad Peter Jackson went with practical effects and models for LOTR. Nice one Chris.
NICE - you have provided "scaled Lord Vader" with a finely detailed vehicle. While shelf bound he will, never the less, spend many a joyous hour pretending to mess with his adversaries. Dig the build - thanks.
OH yeah! I am so glad I ordered this one. I finally got it and I am gonna use your video as a guide. Excellent job on the build and the paint. Thanks for the inspiration and the ideas!!
“I enjoyed doing it that way” “I had a good time” And for me, that is why I work on models… To enjoy the build, and have a good time. Again, Thank You!
I had the original kit from 1977. This really brings me back! I love the fact that they updated the kit to make it more accurate. I would have to scratch build a control yoke for Darth Wheezer. LOL
Chris+ this brings back a lot of mories from the late 1970s for me this and the x-wing kit bought these kits when they first came out along with the Battlestar Galactica kits and the monogram Buck Rogers star fighter along with the Dracona murder
Uauuu...!!! Enhorabuena!!!
So awesome Chris 👌 👏 😎 so enjoy your videos 📹 😀 please keep them coming 🙏 😀 and here to help get your videos 📹 😉 out to everyone to enjoy 😉 😀 have a great day buddy 😀 😊
Thanks for the great review and build. I built this when I was a kid in the 70's and it was one of my favorite kits. I just ordered the new release, looking forward to building it on my channel as well. Have a great day Sir. -David
Beautiful kit. Everything in these kits is just wonderful. Great assembly. You have really done a great job on this one. Love how you painted the Star Wars emblem. As always, thanks for sharing.
Great video. Thank you for actually SHOWING the build process, and the paint process. Actually seeing HOW something is done (or at least, one way of doing it) allows us to practice. Showing the actual products you use is also great (although a few didn’t show the complete info, ie the ‘liquid chrome ‘ pencil..what brand/color?) And please show the brush make/model also! That way I have a guide to a ‘good’ brush! If i follow your technique, and use the same product (glue, paint, brush, etc) and my result is terrible, then I know that should concentrate on the ‘craft’, and not wonder if the ‘tools’ are wrong. Thank you. And an especial big THANK YOU for showing your ‘FumbleFinger’ Ooopsie with the paint brush and windows…. If even a Master can Fumble, then a mere Student can accept our own Fumblies. Oh, one ‘Thank You’ for the list of the music.
Made this back in the day Darth's fighter can give you a edge on a X wing...funny how you mentioned Lord Vader squatting on a potty..then the lights went out welcome to the darkside baby Woof! Woof!
One of my first ever model kits! Fun fact: ILM used the "wings" from these actual kits when they built the studio models for the TIE Bomber. They added panels around the edges to make them a bit bigger, but otherwise didn't change them much at all.
I love that they have a new Darth Vader mini figurine and replaced the old original 1970s MPC version. Fun fact: ILM used the wings from this model kit to construct the wings for the TIE bomber craft, briefly seen in the Empire Strikes Back when the imperials are looking for the Millennium Falcon in the asteroid.
@hpiguys workshop where did you get your paint pens you use for the buttons and whatnot on the control panels? Excellent work btw. Use your guide for my Slave1 build.
Excellent build! I really like this larger size compared to the Bandai kits. I have one of the 90's kits that mount into a clear circle to replicate the Tie Fighter in flight but I like the improvements to the new kit. May have to get another one. Tom S.
It's important to note the discrepancy. I just received both kits and was disappointed that Vader's seems about 1/2-2/3 the scale of the awesome new 1/32 T.I.E. The box on Vader's T.I.E. does not indicate the scale. It is only online where the product description incorrectly states 1/32 scale.
Hi Chris love your channel. I saw your build of the Autocar A64, can you mix gliserine with any paint and how long does it take to dry. I have five or six semi tractor kits I would like to add this detail to
I am in the process of building this same model but my kit has extra parts that I have no idea where they go. Maybe landing gear or guns? Not sure. I would like to put them on. Any ideas?
Your Tie fighter looks just like a movie prop! I hope you dont pack it full of explosives and run it along the close line to recreate the Death Star trench run scene!
I remember the very first run gave us Luke's X-Wing and Vader's T.I.E. Advanced (but no standard T.I.E. Fighter and no Y-Wing, which I believe were specialty kits that first came out in Japan), followed a little later with the Millennium Falcon. The X-Wing and T.I.E. Adv. were pretty decent kits (other than the horrible Vader figure), but the MF was a friggin' mess.
People forget when Star Bores came out they didn't put a lot of thought in it. Nobody expected it to be anything more than a decent money maker. They were "solar panels" and lasers and "shields" on the big ships were plating and such, not Star Trek energy shielding. The ships traveled at light speed, or very slightly faster. All the rest came much later, mostly thx to fans.

I built this the first time around, actually, I still have it. That thing is rock solid!
Had this as a kid... It sat on my dresser right up until I grew up and moved out of my parents house.
OMG! This is a Very Good Imperial Lord Darth Vader's TIE~Fighter indeed! Thank You So Much for this Relaxing Modelling Tutorial! 🌷🌿🌎💖🇬🇧🇺🇸

Hopefully they'll reissue the R2-D2 kit and retool it as well with a better middle leg.
The Force IS with you Chris 🚀
OMG I JUST FINISHED ONE OF THESE!
I painted it '57 Chevy red, Looks pretty cool, too.
Your enthusiasm in regards to scale modeling is infectious, my friend.

Enhorabuena!!!
I truly love these Star Wars models!
This is a wonderful model kit Chris, shout out to Round2 for this release!! Your build was perfect 🥰, and as always, an excellent presentation!!
They have done a great job retooling all the kits they have come out with. Cudos to round2. And keep up the builds awesome work as usual
Bought the original in the late 70s, happy memories
So awesome Chris 👌 👏 😎 so enjoy your videos 📹 😀 please keep them coming 🙏 😀 and here to help get your videos 📹 😉 out to everyone to enjoy 😉 😀 have a great day buddy 😀 😊
This looks great - thanks for another fun build.

Very Cool! 👍
The box art in original style is super cool.
Right!
I've got an original one I built way back in 1978, still looks good.
Really want a studio series of this...
THAT'S 1BIG MUTHA Of Kit ‼️‼️ It LOOKS AWESOME Chris, Thanks For Sharing n Have a Blessed Rest o The Week/Wknd Ahead Buddy 🤗🤗, Gary.
Kit would be weathering dream. Great job.

Superbe réalisation 👍
You did this classic kit Justice Sir.
Love your style.
more please.
Love seeing the "mistakes", you know pick up a paint brush only to see it spin out of your fingers. Love seeing the human touch.
I remember seeing this box when I was a kid 😃
i remember building the mpc millenium falcon when i was a kid
Made this back in the day Darth's fighter can give you a edge on a X wing...funny how you mentioned Lord Vader squatting on a potty..then the lights went out welcome to the darkside baby Woof! Woof!
Outstanding video and presentation.
Thank you kindly!
Well I have to pick this one up for sure, I built lots of these in soda pop can art style I plan on doing the entire set as it’s released
Those updated parts are real nice touch since Starship Modeller no longer carry the Blue Moon updates.
Brilliant mate👍
I've still got my Original I wish I could show you it's to quote the mam Impressive most impressive

I have the original but like what they have done with the new tooling
Nice, i just bought this one and Boba's.
May the fourth be with you Chris!
this will look great with the new AMT 1/32 tie fighter that just came out!
Yes, and I just built that as well.

@@hpiguy Please Show us both of these together! the vader and the new tie! - new tie fighter is sold out everywhere!
@hpiguys workshop where did you get your paint pens you use for the buttons and whatnot on the control panels? Excellent work btw. Use your guide for my Slave1 build.

Tom S.
If its one important thing they should have added are the hull panel lines, I guess i will need to scribe them myself.
Very nice work
😀 Awesome
It would be cool to put some flames on it! Maybe some Moon eyes. LOL Moon eyes! Get it?
Great vid.. BUT .. as you know that is NOT in 1/32 scale.. the New TIE fighter that just came out is in 1/32.. and it is bigger.

@hpiguy it would be nice to update this video with a text overlay correcting the scale that is stated.
Nice job 👍

"The Universe's most dangerous asthmatic" .......nice😜
Thanks!
Awesome video as always! Painting that monster barely fit in your booth!
I have one, need to get another one
aside from the super glue, what glue did you use?
I am in the process of building this same model but my kit has extra parts that I have no idea where they go. Maybe landing gear or guns? Not sure. I would like to put them on. Any ideas?
Your Tie fighter looks just like a movie prop! I hope you dont pack it full of explosives and run it along the close line to recreate the Death Star trench run scene!
LOL, thanks!
what glue do you use?
I have a Kenner Darth Vader tie fighter. Would u paint in like u did this model. If so how much ???
May I ask what color did u use on this model
I built the original of this when I was 10 years old.
ボンバーもカッケー👍
Big news: THE TURBO TERRIFIC IS NOW AVAILABLE! No kidding!
I've got to ask - why using Superglu on this kind of kit?
its official name is the TIE Advanced X1
All I hear is Vader's theme as you were showing off the parts, too bad you would get a copyright strike for using it though lol.
May I ask why u won’t respond to my message about painting my Vader tie fighter like u did that model
I replied to you on the Facebook page a long time ago, I don't do commission work. Thanks.
Original kit had an undercarriage.. Two ski type pads....
As you can see in the unboxing those parts are all there, and now they include the nicer Polar Lights dome stand as well.
If I painted something like that it would look terrible!
this is gorgeous! awesome job. i'd love to do one of these. i love the details in the cockpit too. yes, the box art is badass!
